12:34 am
spatialbean
Brandyjack left us a gift.
12:35 am
mab
Hurrah brandyjack!! Lucky us!!!!!
12:36 am
Debs40ish
Pressie....where where....lol
12:36 am
mab
Is it made out of chocolate?
12:37 am
spatialbean
No chocolate just letters. Wow I could use some chocolate. Yum.
12:37 am
GreyWoulf
Woof Woof
12:37 am
Debs40ish
I've still got loads left from Xmas....
12:38 am
mab
Dark, slightly sweetened chocolate is a powerful anti-oxidant. Woof, griff!
12:38 am
mrpresident
se8/45
12:39 am
Griffums
Well, this'll be fun. I have a stats chart but only green where the grid is. I've been *saying* we needed to use wild cards!
12:39 am
mab
Brava mrpres.
12:39 am
mrpresident
Thanks mab.... typed forever!!
12:40 am
mab
It will be fun. It's much harder if you have to guess the letters.
12:40 am
Griffums
Or easier, I don't know. But anyway I can use the letters in the little yellow/gray boxes...and a magnifying glass
12:41 am
mab
When I figure out what it is, I'll try real hard not to post it in the log. Promise.
12:42 am
mab
Refreshing doesn't help, griff?
12:42 am
Griffums
Hasn't yet.
12:43 am
mab
Oh, looking back, brava Debs, x 2!
12:43 am
chic
Nite All, time to crash and burn, I can't keep up with you morning ones ;-)
12:44 am
Griffums
and what do you mean EEYORE isn't a valid word!
12:45 am
Dspanda
Can someone explain how the letter and number clues work, such as the clue se8/45?
Thanks!
12:46 am
mab
The word begin with se, has 8 letters, and is worth 45 points.
12:46 am
Debs40ish
se = what word begins with 8= how many letters 45=how many points...
12:47 am
spatialbean
maybe reboot griff?
12:47 am
Dspanda
Thank you, thank you. :)
12:48 am
Griffums
Don't want to reboot while I'm actually still getting words, but yeah, I think that's the answer. If it's still blank when I get back, I will know you all are pulling the green felt over my eyes.
12:48 am
mab
Also, Dspanda, if you click on Babblers Anonymous under friends of babble at the right, you will find a listing of how many words, first two letters, etc., under Stats. Copying and pasting the list is very helpful once you can no longer find words on your own.
12:49 am
Griffums
oh wait - there they are!
well, some of them
12:51 am
GreyWoulf
Well I just nodded off in front of the computer!
Will go to bed now -- -see everyone tomorrow!
(*Hugs to All*)
12:52 am
Griffums
night gw!
12:52 am
mab
By all means! Night GW.
12:53 am
Dspanda
Thanks for all the helpful info Mab.
12:54 am
spatialbean
Nite GW
12:54 am
mab
my pleasure.
12:56 am
Griffums
ok, there's the 7's and 8's, now it's time to start my backward plod through the alphabet...
12:56 am
Griffums
(I'm not boring and predictable, I'm consistent and reliable, yeah that's it)
12:59 am
mab
At least you have a method. I go along hither, and yes, thither.
1:00 am
Griffums
And yon as well, mab? I do that too - pick off the big ones, do a quick pass of whatever I see, and then I just start working it like a berry patch. Almost as tasty.
1:03 am
mab
Well... yes, yon as well. high and low, wide and far, stern to stem, etc.
1:11 am
mab
For some reason, possibly stupidity, I don't see the se. Just a wee cluey?
1:12 am
mab
I see the lipstick tree.
1:13 am
Griffums
Starts with that prefix for partial, end rhymes with the thing in the middle of your face x2 (which would look pretty weird)
1:13 am
mrpresident
Excellent little game this one!
1:14 am
Griffums
(er, with apologies to anyone here who has two of those in the middle of their face, in which case it looks incredibly distinguished...well, distinguishable)
1:14 am
mab
Thanks, grif. Eager to look that one up. Not that there's anything wrong with partial multiple features.
1:19 am
mrpresident
I keep typing newsmen!!
1:19 am
Griffums
Ha! I tried newsreel!
1:21 am
mab
My least favorite word and its plural, sn4 and 5.
1:22 am
Griffums
Really mab? Guess you won't be visiting me soon!
1:24 am
mab
no, not soon soon...
1:24 am
mrpresident
n7/32 is a great word to find!! monkey typed to get it though!
1:25 am
Griffums
Someone left a clue for that earlier - something about foes not friends, that's where I got it.
1:26 am
mab
Athough, think about it. Jan is nearly shot, Feb is a short month, March has warm moments, and then it's April. We're practically into Spring! It's just around the corner. Get out those seed catalogues.
1:27 am
Griffums
Oh, people here already have them out! We give our stuff a long head start indoors since can't usually plant outside until after Memorial Day.
1:29 am
Griffums
I hate, hate, hate, the RE's. I hate them and REhate them.
1:30 am
spatialbean
It's practically Thanksgiving!
1:30 am
mab
By the time we see the first crocus here in mass, it's nearly azalea season in DC. Where's the justice?
1:31 am
Griffums
tee hee spatial!
1:31 am
Griffums
That's your next novel, mab - Justice in the Azaleas
1:32 am
spatialbean
Yeah DC intrigue
1:33 am
mab
I'm polishing the menorah now. Just so I don't fall behind.
I'll bet I hate the re's more than you do, Griff. Enable is utterly random with its re's.
1:38 am
mab
We need to mobilize all the peoples of the world and help them relocate to their preferred climate. Climate Justice for all. All the coldblooded people, like my exhusband, could live in cooler climates and use less heating energy. People like me in hot areas, etc.
1:39 am
Griffums
Wonder what the population center of the planet would be then?
1:40 am
mab
Ok, I'm boring myself. must sleep as kitty progress report will be telephoned early in the morning. Later, wordies.
1:40 am
spatialbean
I think that's really a good idea.
1:41 am
Griffums
good luck with that, mab - looking forward to good news for the wee one. 'Night.
1:41 am
spatialbean
Nite Mab. YOu and the kitty are in my prayers.
1:41 am
mab
It could be a plank in a green party platform. hmmm...
1:42 am
mab
Oh, that's so sweet. Thanks.
1:42 am
spatialbean
I know how worried you are. It's gonna be fine.

oh, dachef, I loved Richard Gere in the adaptation . . . you know, he started out on Broadway in Grease, right? Re the adaptation itself, it was definitely a "Lite" version of the musical.

yeh - but its not the same as being live on stage. its difficult to make a musical into a succesful movie - by taking it off the stage you lose the magic!
does anyone have the en7/32?
8:08 am
EvaNadine
thanks Ouwachita and baggo!
8:08 am
Uneaixoise
film adaptation of Phantom of the Opera . . . let's not even go there . . . groan

i absolutely love the new job, theres lots to learn, and i am amazed every day by the things people do to get themselves in the er...had a girlfriends husband die, while i haven't been on much. her kids and relatives all would play under my name...
8:08 am
Uneaixoise
I DID like the film adaptation of Evita but then I melt over Antonio!
8:10 am
Ouwachita
Antonio does nothing for me...but then I am not that kind of guy
8:10 am
lola100
baggo, great news about the job...you are going to have to start telling us some of the funnier stories! Sorry about your friend though : (
8:12 am
Dachef
I avoided the film version of Evita cos i saw it on stage and it was beautiful - I didnt want the illusions to be shattered. Then one day I came home and my flatmate was watching it - I joined her and cried my eyes out!!1
8:13 am
Dachef
ouwachita - got it, thanx! Talk about obvious! Got all the dodgy m words straight away and then miss that one!
8:13 am
baggo
thanks lola...my husband says do you realize that you find humor in other peoples misery..which is kinda sick when you think about it. :-) i'm truly amazed so far at what adults will do while drinking...chainsaws and alcohol don't mix...but what's amazing is that they leave after stitches. none have had to have surgery..
8:14 am
Uneaixoise
ahhh, i can imagine . . . on a different note . . . that is, adapting film for stage musical--just saw Spamalot in NYC and would see it again and again and again--witty, hilarious, clever, charming--I'm not a big laugh outloud kinda theatre person but I howled thru the whole thing!!!
8:15 am
lola100
baggo, I guess so but I always think if you're gonna be that stupid you deserve to be laughed at! : D
8:17 am
baggo
very true....we're serious while we need to be...but man...and the people with animals where they should not be...that one freaked me out a bit...lets just say a woman with a gerbil....
8:17 am

Hi, kids. Hope this puzzle is a little less gnarly than yesterday's. For some reason, that one gave me fits.

baggo - defo tell us all the humorous stories - esp when people insert things into places they were not supposed to go. Always hilarious.
8:18 am

Hi circe! : )
bubbles, me too! Although I didn't think I was that good... ; )
8:22 am
Dachef
I have a friend who works in a hospital and he relayed to me one day the hilarious tomato sauce bottle escapade.
Basically, this guy was admitted with a bottle of ketchup where no bottle of ketchup was designed to go. Apparently the conversation with the doctor went something like this:
Doctor: how did it happen?
Man: I came home with the shopping, only to realise that I had locked myself out. I climbed a ladder to the first floor, where there was an open window, and slipped. I fell onto my grocery bags, which had a bottle of ketchup inside, and thats how it happened. Honest."
Doctor: fair enough. So how did the bottle of ketchup have a condom on it?
Priceles.
8:22 am
lola100
You let her take it home with her??
8:23 am
lola100
dachef- LOL!!! : D
8:24 am
baggo
it was hers...they guy took his chainsaw blade home with him too...
dachef very true they all say they "fell" onto objects...this girl wouldn't say a word as to how it got up there she told us to think what we wanted just please get it out...
8:25 am
baggo
legally she or he could've sued the hospital for not returning their property if they wanted...so unless the cops want it (murder etc) then they get their stuff back...
8:26 am
Norad
Good morning babblers...*waves sleepily*...I started the grid too late last night, but of course didn't finish. Any clues for the ey 7 or the oy 7, last of the big ones for me... p.s. baggo, was she very drunk or high?

8:32 am
Jacula
Hi folks. Have been splitting my sides reading Baggo and Dachef's hospital tales. I've saved them to notepad to show Paul later end entitled it 'Baggo's Adventures in Casualty'. Baggo - glad you're enjoying your new job. I think you should start a blog on BabAnon with the title I gave the notepad stuff.:-))))
8:33 am
Norad
Thanks lola, got them both...
8:33 am
circe
waves to Jacula and Norad - morning..
don't gerbils BITE??? *still shaking head over that one*
8:33 am
lola100
Hi jacs! What a good idea! baggo, you could do it in the form of a diary : )
8:34 am
Jacula
Hiya Circe. My aunt & uncle both work in a hospital and, believe me, the gerbil tale is not uncommon! As for biting, I doubt the poor thing can even breathe, let alone bite, when trapped in a place a gerbil was never meant to be!
8:35 am
EvaNadine
missing a 7 -- i have:

8:39 am

Baggo - Please do! It doesn't have to be all funny tales, of course, but I think it would make fascinating reading.
8:40 am
circe
oh yes Baggo - do please.
(received a much needed but very unromantic vacuum)
8:40 am
EvaNadine
thanks!
got all the biggies now.
:)
8:40 am
baggo
I went a searching on the internet after this episode...and just ignore if you don't want to read...but lets just say that the said person wants the animal to "panic" cause that is where they get their pleasure from most times it is the other orifice that one puts the "gerbil" in...
8:41 am
Jacula
My icon scene is one of our holiday photos from 3 years ago - a wonderful silver sunset as we took our nightly walk along the beach. There's also one of that scene with me in a bikini standing in the middle of it but I'm not putting that one on!
8:41 am

8:44 am
Dachef
Im 29, and Ive just managed to hold 23 raisins in both nostrils at the same time. Do I win a prize?
8:44 am
Dachef
Hold on, 24.
8:44 am
baggo
dachef you take it...do you need help getting them out....i would gladly volunteer..
8:45 am
Jacula
Baggo - If you continue in that job you will expand your capacity for amazement. People insert all manner of things where things should not be inserted. Then they get them stuck and have to think up 'plausible' reasons as to how the things got 'there' when they have to ask for medical help. I must ring my aunt and uncle and ask them to refresh my memory on some of the things they've seen.
8:45 am
lola100
dachef...24?? What would you like?! : D
8:45 am
circe
so, is that 17 raisins before the parent even notices that the child has placed foreign objects up his nose, or before the child screams so much that the parents need to have the child attended to?? Is this some sort of predictive behavior - perhaps the 2 yr old is a future gerbil patient???
8:45 am
Jacula
Dachef - Whatever you do, DON'T SNEEZE! LOL.
8:46 am
baggo
lol jacula...or inhale too deeply...
8:46 am
lola100

8:47 am
Jacula
I could sit here all day enjoying this wonderful log conversation but, sadly, I must away at 101 words found... do some work. I will return! Thanks for the laughs, and the clues, folks.:-))xx
8:47 am
baggo
the parents weren't watching the child...football was on...that was dad's quote...and the mom said she knew there wasn't enough time for the child to have eaten them...and she saw one...and freaked...did i mention that kid came in by ambulance???
8:47 am
Jera
Lovely conversation I got here just in time for... Sprite once shoved a pokemon counter pebble up her nose... actually had the sense to come & tell me... she sneezed it out just as the ER doc was coming at her with the pincer thing to shove up her nose... she NEVER put anything up her nose again...
8:48 am
lola100
Thanks dachef...never going to be able to look at a raisin the same way ever again. Probably won't be able to eat them anymore either!
8:48 am
Dachef
baggo - do you do house calls? I can only find 22.
8:48 am
baggo
why not put them on the menu at your restaurant dachef...

8:53 am

8:53 am
Dachef

Anyone got a clue for the er6/30?
8:53 am

8:56 am
Jera

8:56 am
lola100
baggo, not yet but I think this week is the start of some serious looking : )
8:57 am
Dachef
got it - thanx baggo and Lola.
All words begiining with vowels should be banned. Thank God there are no a's today.
8:57 am
baggo
el + the first thre letters of em4/5
8:57 am
lola100
jera, the first four letters sound like the beginning of what you call primary school and then add the 'me' vowel : )
8:58 am
baggo
i agree dachef...i'm not very fond of those nasty little vowels
8:58 am
Jera
Well, of course, why didn't I see that? Why, I use that word every day! *laughs hysterically*
8:59 am
baggo
here is the real def but i didn't think that it would help...cause i too use it everyday...lol
Any of various oily resins derived from certain tropical trees, especially Canarium luzonicum of the Philippines, and used in making varnishes and inks.

9:39 am
Dachef
en7 = arch en***** - such as batman and the Joker.
em6/21 = The Joker and the Penguin where Batman's ne7/32. Take that word and drop the n for the em6/21.
9:39 am

Jacula - will I need to cover the eyes of farting snoring one - she is back on my lap for a very limited treat - she got use of her back legs back today for a bit - think I will rename her lucky though, Diagnosed with glaucoma and cataract yesterday, may lose they eye....

To deliver us from the evil of haggis and dog farts, I invoke the names of holy gourmet chocolates: Godiva, Lindt, Toblerone, Valrohna, etc. etc. Yea, tho I walk through the valley of wretched and demented food creations, I shall fear no evil. For my cross is made of chocolate.

A sensible one for once! You have made my day. A woman in UK died a couple of years ago - maternity unit was too busy with routine inductions (on 40 year old dodgy evidence base) so she and baby died of eclampsia while waiting for attention. Ind. seems to be used to shut up litigationists rather than in cases of necessity. Arghhhh. Guess what my soap box is!

7:27 pm
mamabear
good nite snowy!!!! and yet ANOTHER member of the coughing club!!!! I am in same boat..... take care!
7:28 pm
mamabear
what is Drocera, Jac?
7:30 pm
Jacula
Drosera is mainly a cough remedy and is especially useful in whooping cough. Drosera was used by physicians in the sixteenth century for treating tuberculosis.
It's made from an insect-eating plant.
7:31 pm
Jacula
Drosera's key uses are for the following:
* Violent, hollow, barking coughs
* Difficulty breathing
* Growing pains and bone pain
7:32 pm
speedfreak
Jacula: can you get that Drocera without a Dr. I have had a horrible cough for over a week now....also anyone have a clue for the first m7 word down to 5 all M words
7:34 pm
mamabear
et tu? speedfreak?????? That settles it - everyone disinfect your keyboards - we are being attacked!
7:34 pm
Jacula
Speedfreak, you can get it without prescription here in UK from Health food shops. I don't know if the same applies in the USA.
7:35 pm
mamabear
speedfreak - the m 7 sounds the same phonetically as the mi 6/21
7:35 pm
speedfreak
This has been the worst season for nasty cold symptoms, just get over one and get another!!!
7:36 pm
Jacula
Mama - THANK YOU! You've just given me mi6/21.
7:37 pm
Jacula
A clue for mi4/7?
7:37 pm
speedfreak
THANK YOU! Been after that for awhile
7:37 pm
mamabear
*mamabear humbly bows*
7:37 pm
mamabear
mi 4/7 - same as mi 4/5 above it, remove last letter and add sometimes vowel
7:38 pm
speedfreak
ok need the me5/12 and me6/21 before the one where you make a me-- of your room.
7:38 pm
Jacula
Thanks, Mama. Do you know, I could swear I tried that earlier. *Tuts*
7:39 pm
mamabear
me 5/12 - me + a male offspring (not daughter, but..) and me 6 is the plural
7:40 pm
Jacula
me5/12 & pl. 6/21 - sounds like the French for house OR 'this is myself (short word for that) and my male offspring.
7:41 pm
speedfreak
Please don't hate me now missing the me5/12 right above that last clue Thanks for those got them!!!
7:42 pm
mamabear

7:44 pm
Jacula
I'm after the me4/5 & me/12 after the cat calls and before the body of water, pretty please?
7:44 pm
mamabear
Jacula is right! In fact, I think it is a proven fact that if you try to enter "hate" in the word box, it comes up with "oops - that is not a valid word in Babbleonia" LOL
7:45 pm
LUCKY
me 5 /12 the one after the me5/16
me 5/12 the next one in the list and the following

speedfreak
LOL Jacula
Lucky think your clues are right below you post Mama Bear and Jacula just gave a lot of me for me:)!!!

7:47 pm
mamabear
for the next me 5 & me 6 - see my post at 7:39
7:48 pm
mamabear
Mr. Haggard's first name and the plural
7:49 pm
speedfreak
Jacula It could be the one that means blackbird or
________ Haggard Country singer
7:49 pm
LUCKY
jera please help since you're don
me 3x right after me 5/1 6 M.. Christmas
I'm on my knees !
7:49 pm
Jacula
Got those too, Mama. Now I'm getting confused! It's the 8th & 9th or 10th & 11th me's in the list that I need.
7:50 pm
Jacula
Mama & Speedfreak - Gottem! T/y.
7:51 pm
mamabear
there are 3 in the Haggard family - one 4 letter and 2 5 letter - one plural and one with an Ending vowEl
7:51 pm
mamabear
Lucky - I'm not sure which ones you are asking for...
7:53 pm
Jacula
It was getting the blackbird one (that I know as a type of border collie, a blue me***), that confused me. I got that right at the start of the day.
7:53 pm
mamabear
Lucky - if it's the 3 after the M**** Christmas word, then see my posts at 7:39 and 7:42 for those clues
7:54 pm
Jacula
*Jac scans the grid in hope of finding the first ri4/4 and 5/10.*
7:55 pm
Jacula
She shoots! She scores!
7:55 pm
mamabear
ri + **evator going up! and plural
7:55 pm
mamabear
sorry for the premature clue!
7:55 pm
Jacula
8 words to go...
7:56 pm
Jacula
Don't be sorry, Mama. Even if I didn't need it, others might!
7:56 pm
mamabear
I am finished, Jac, so if you would like a clue, say the word!!!!!
7:57 pm
Jacula
Yes please, Mama. The le5/10 ad le4/4 following it (after the yellow fruits) are eluding me.
7:58 pm
mamabear
le 5/10 - your meat is not fatty, but le** (spelled phonetically)
le 4 - the last name of a male evening talk show host
8:00 pm
mamabear
oops sorry - throw a squiggly letter on to that meat clue word
8:01 pm
Jacula
Mama - Got the 4 now (wouldn't have done if I didn't have SKY tv though!) but the 5's still eluding me. It's the 5/10 straight after the plural yellow citrus that I need.
8:03 pm
mamabear
take your le 5/10 that means your contact le*** and change the letter order around
8:04 pm
Jacula
Got that. It must be the 5/10 after the chat show host I need! I really must pay more attention to how I write my words on my paper list.
8:05 pm
mamabear
oh that is easy - just plural your talk show guy
8:05 pm
Jacula
Scrub that! More than one chat show host. Got it. Thank you!x
8:06 pm
mamabear
Lucky - are you still there and hunting?
8:06 pm
Jacula
It's very quiet in here right now, Mama, isn't it?
8:07 pm
Jacula
I guess it's changeover time when most sane Brits and Europeans are sleeping and the other side of The Pond are busy elsewhere.
8:07 pm
mamabear
yes it is...... *tumbleweed goes rolling through Babbleonia and the wind gently whistles through the leafless trees*
8:08 pm
mamabear
Is it around 2 am-ish by you Jac?
8:08 pm
Jacula
Yes. Mama. 2:08 to be precise.
8:09 pm
LUCKY
Mamabear thanks got the male offspring but do not understand 7: 4 2 me + **eze the ticke in the nose
please another clue for that one?
8:09 pm
mamabear
I normally would not be here either on a Wednesday nite - it is a choir nite but this coughing is preventing that
8:10 pm
mamabear
Lucky
me + the first three letters of the word ***eze (achoo!)
8:11 pm
Jacula
Lucky - if something irritates your nose, you expel the air violently with a sn****. Those 1st 3 letter of that word give you your last 3 letters of the word you seek.
8:12 pm
Jacula
Mama - I'd check with your health food store about the 'Drosera'. It may help.
8:12 pm
mamabear
Thanks, Jac - I will try to do that!
8:12 pm
mamabear
how are you doing on word count, Jac? Lucky?
8:13 pm
Jacula
Oh!:( Just checking what em's I need, I discovered I don't have er6/30.
8:13 pm
Jacula
6 words left to find here, Mama.
8:14 pm
mamabear
er 6 - er + second vowel + don't do it later, do it ***!
8:15 pm
LUCKY
thanks jacula and Mama got it
mi 5/12 amd mo 6/21
8:15 pm
Jacula
Words still to find:
em5/12, 1st em6/21, 2nd em6/21, last em4/5.
er6/30
Last se4/4
8:16 pm
mamabear
mi 5/12 is plural of 4/5 above it
8:17 pm
LeslieAnn
er 6 - er + vowel + at this moment
8:17 pm
mamabear
mo 6 - there are 2 that work off of the mo 4 that is the green stuff that grows in the shade, commonly found at the base of a tree - one of the 6's is the plural and the other is one who would care for it
8:17 pm
Jacula
Thanks for the er6, Mama. LOL. That's something I often hear young mothers yelling at their small children these days, preceded by 'ger'. Translates as, 'Get away from there, dear, and come to me.' Hmmm.
8:18 pm
gwenski
1st em5/12, em6/21, and last em4/5 are all related. Think prince or ruler in middle east.
8:18 pm
mamabear
em 5 - em + the appendage on the side of your head that allows you to hear, spelled with a double first vowel. the next 6 is the plural
8:19 pm
mamabear
second em 6/21 - add es to the em4 above it
8:20 pm
LUCKY
Down to my last three wordss total
mi 4/5
mi 5/12
mi 6/21
Mama I have a mi 4/5 but cannot pluralize it...
is it maybe the other one I still need?
8:20 pm
mamabear
last se 4 - think of the movie "To *** with love" but change the vowel to an e and plural it
8:22 pm
mamabear
the other mi 4/5 - mi + my boyfriend just gave me a ring and now we are **gaged! (add the ** to the mi) and then plural for the mi 5
8:22 pm
gwenski
mi6/21 = me7/32 minus the e
8:22 pm
LUCKY
Mama I have the one mi 4/5 which means slimy soil
8:23 pm
mamabear
mi 6/21 - mi + the romantic flowerS that you give for ValentineS Day - minuS the firSt letter and plural it
8:24 pm
mamabear
Jac - last em 4/5 - is em + 3rd vowel and consonant (vowel and cons together sound like appendage on side of head once again)
8:24 pm
Jacula
Gwenski - got all but the first em5 & 6 from your clues. You helped me get my written list in order. Thanks.
8:26 pm
Jacula
Anyone got a clue for the last se4/4 while I struggle with the Eastern ruler related em's? (Got the Eastern ruler already, btw.)
8:26 pm
gwenski
Take your last em4/5 and replace the middle vowel with a double vowel. Different spelling for same thing.
8:27 pm
Sushi
I am new and will have to learn but you are using codes I cannot yet understand. What is ri4/4 and 5/10? Newbies!
8:28 pm
Jacula
Gwenski - Gottem. Thank you!
8:28 pm
gwenski
ri5/10 means that the word starts with ri, contains 5 letters, and has a point value of 10.
8:28 pm
LUCKY
THANK YOU ALL PLURALIZED
I HAVE FINISHED FOR THE SECOND TIME EVER
WHO WANT A GIN AND TONIC TO CELEBRATE??
8:29 pm
Jacula
Sushi. Welcome to Babbleonia. 're' means the word begins with the letters 're' 5/12 means it is 5 letters long and worth 12 points. To see how all this works click on 'Babble rules'.
8:29 pm
Sushi
thanks Gwenski! So far I have 327 points so not too bad for a novice!
8:30 pm
gwenski
Congrats, Lucky! Just pour me a diet cola or plain bottled water, please.
8:30 pm
mamabear
Jac - clue for the se 4 at 8:20
8:30 pm
Sushi
Thansk Jacula. Rules, smules, it is more fun to chat.
8:30 pm
Jacula
Well done, Lucky! A G& T sounds lovely, thank you. Want a slice of lemon to go in yours? *Jac hands the lemon bowl over.*
8:31 pm
gwenski
I'll take a lemon, too, please.
8:31 pm
mamabear
Good job Lucky - but gin and I don't get along.... make mine a rum & coke!
Hi Sushi - sorry - I stepped away for a minute and missed your entrance! Welcome to Babbleonia!
8:31 pm
Jacula
Mama - wil check back for the se clue. Thanks.
Sushi - Chatting is fun but knowing how the scoring works DOES help! (See Babble rules.) LOL.
8:31 pm
Octarine

Jac - do you really think you should be using that particular citrus fruit today???? LOL
8:33 pm
gwenski
Oops. Sorry. I did it too.
8:34 pm
mamabear
It grows on ya, Octarine, just like mo 4/5 on a tree!
8:34 pm
Jacula
Mama - OOPS!
8:34 pm
Jacula
Mind you, it makes a change for a Babbleword to be one in everyday use!
8:35 pm
mamabear
you're both in luck - this happens to be "no time outs for listing grid words Wednesday!"..... yeah, really!!! It's on MY calendar!!!!
8:35 pm
LUCKY
Drinks are on the house tonight and I toast to everyone

I'm off to bed LOL cheers!
8:35 pm
Sushi
mo4/5 on a tree... Now I get it. Ha Ha. Ok I am up to 341 points. This is fun. I am attracted to the gin-lemon talk tho.
8:35 pm
mamabear
good nite Lucky!!! Thanks for the drink!!!
8:36 pm
gwenski
Thanks for the reprieve, Mama. Now I can sign off with a clear conscience.
8:36 pm
LUCKY
bye bye hug for mamabear!
8:36 pm
mamabear
oh yes, gwenski, it t'would be a restless sleep with something like THAT on your mind!!! LOL
good nite - sweet dreams!
8:37 pm
mamabear
(((((Lucky))))))))
8:37 pm
Jacula
Goodnight Lucky. Sweet (Babblefree) dreams.
Mama - my calendar says it's my best friend's 49th birthday (tee, hee) and another friend's son's 25th birthday. (Good grief! I remember him 5 minutes ago when he was still 'a lump'!)
8:37 pm
mamabear
Jac - you all done too?
8:38 pm
Jacula
Grant - Thanks for the clue but I haven't been able to work it out.
8:39 pm
Octarine
does anyone else print out the two letter combos on a single page and strike them out as you solve them?
8:39 pm
mamabear
se 4/4 - Yes *** that's my baby, no *** I don't mean maybe," Only change the vowel to an e and add an s at the end
8:39 pm
aknitter
raises hand high, that is how i solve, with a list
8:40 pm
mamabear
Oh yes Octarine!!!!! Couldn't do it without it.
8:40 pm
aknitter
oh please no singing tonight
8:40 pm
Jacula
Octarine - I write the bloody words by the combos, never mind strike them out! LOL. Thing is, I don't always write them in the right order - hence the confusion at times. :-(
8:41 pm
mamabear
hi ak - sorry. will try to control myself *mamabear hums quietly to herself*
8:41 pm
Octarine
yeah Ihavent figured out the order thing yet so I just keep plugging away.
8:41 pm
Jacula
Oh, yet another case of me writing it down wrongly... It's not the last se4 I need but the one before it. *Sighs and slaps self with a wet fish.*
8:41 pm
mamabear
so Jac, do we have our se?
8:42 pm
Jacula
No, Mama, 'we' don't!
8:43 pm
aknitter
evening mamabear, just got in. i am off to a late start tonight!!
8:43 pm
Jacula
Hi AKnitter! Don't you want us to serenade you as you Babble? *Looks hurt and cries quietly into keyboard.*
8:44 pm
mamabear
the se 4 above it is se + the joint in the middle of your leg minus the first and last letters
8:44 pm
aknitter
oh don't cry into your key board it will short it out!!!! -- Hands tissue to jac
8:45 pm
mamabear
besides, if I could sing tonite, ak, I would be at choir rehearsal. Hope this infernal coughing isn't annoying you nice people.
8:45 pm
LeslieAnn
i am having issues with these ho's... any help?
8:46 pm
Jacula
Got it, Mama. A regular Babbleword and I didn't see it! *Slaps self with large frozen fish.*
AKnitter - Thank you. *Blows nose noisily after wiping eyes.*
8:46 pm
aknitter
hot tody for your cough??? holds out a cup
8:46 pm
mamabear
LOL LeslieAnn!!!
when a boy goes through puberty, his ho****** are running rampant.
8:46 pm
Jacula
LeslieAnn - Issues with ho's? Maybe the police could help?:)
8:47 pm
aknitter
lol jac, i was thinking the same thing
8:47 pm
mamabear
thanks ak - never turn down a toddy!!!! mmmmmmmm
8:48 pm
Jacula
I've still got a stack of mulled wine mix left over from Christmas. Shall I make a pan up for us all? We can have oranges and le6/21s in it, too.
8:48 pm
LeslieAnn
seriously... yesterday i was trying to give someone a clue for "hoofs" so i said "these are the ho's that horses clomp around on" which looking back was hilarious
8:48 pm
mamabear
is tomorrow comic day? I am an icon behind. Here I am the one that suggested flowers and scenery and I am not participating .... bad mamabear
8:49 pm
aknitter
mulled wine please! i have a large glass here
8:49 pm
mamabear
what is mulled wine?
8:50 pm
aknitter
oh mulled wine is yummy, better than a hot tody. spices and fruits into your simmering wine. i get all gooshy thinking about it. the warmth starts your toes and quickly rises
8:51 pm
mamabear
sounds heavenly!!! COUNT ME IN!!!!
8:52 pm
Jacula
Mama - Yes, it's scandalous that you are not participating in your own icon day!
Mulled wine is a good red wine that's heated (not boiled!) with spices like cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, and has citrus fruits and perhaps apples (sliced and chopped, all) in it, too.
8:52 pm
Jacula
LeslieAnn - Oh dear! I now have a vision of 'women of the night' being stomped on by horses.
8:54 pm
Jacula
'Stirrup Cup', traditionally drunk before Winter Hunts, packs more a a punch as it also contains port and brandy or the like.
8:55 pm
mamabear
farbeit for me to be scandalous.... please REFRESH
8:55 pm
Jacula
Mama - I meant to put some Christmas drinks recipes into BabAnon but I got caught up with making gingerbread houses and mince pies, and so didn't have the time.
8:56 pm
Jacula
Mama - That heavenly looking beach has redeemed you!:-)
8:56 pm
mamabear
put it on your to-do list for next Christmas!!!
8:56 pm
Octarine
flowers and scenery...my icon even matches in a way! Its light on water
8:56 pm
mamabear
That is Ormond Beach on the east coast of Florida. I vacationed there 2 years ago... was beautiful.
8:56 pm
aknitter
what is today's theme anyway?
8:57 pm
mamabear
today is scenery pics, ak!
8:57 pm
aknitter
oh, brb, i must go and change!!!
8:57 pm
Jacula
My icon, as I said earlier in the day, is from my photo album. It was taken on holiday 3 years ago in North Wales - a silver sunset that occurred as we took our nightly stroll along the beach. I chose NOT to put up the version of it with me in the middle in a bikini (despite Paul's pleas for me to do so!)
8:58 pm
mamabear
you're right, Octarine! your icon is very relaxing!
8:59 pm
mamabear
LOL Jac!!!!! A beautiful sunset.... I absolutely adore the ocean
8:59 pm
mamabear
done with grid Jac?
8:59 pm
Octarine
what is this..."sun"... you speak of? Its been grey for weeks here in Chicago, at least its not freezing anymore
8:59 pm
Jacula
Octarine - you saying light on the water has now got me humming Deep Purple's 'Smoke on the Water'.
9:00 pm
aknitter
i'm back, refresh for japan
9:01 pm
Jacula
Goodness me, AKnitter, you got to Japan fast! Did you resurrect Concorde?
9:02 pm
Jacula
Mama, yes. Sorry, forgot to say I AM ALL DONE WITH THE GRID.
*Checks back. No, I didn't forget to say. I said so at 8:46.* LOL.
9:02 pm
aknitter
i did dig up that old relic of a plane
love that sunset in wales. it is on my must visit list
9:02 pm
mamabear
Octarine - yes the sun was out here for about 10 minutes yesterday and about 2 minutes today..... we desperately need a sun filled day to raise spirits and heal viruses.
9:03 pm
mamabear
Sorry, Jac, must have missed it!!!!
9:04 pm
mamabear
Octarine - are you vacationing here in Illinois from Ireland? Or relocated?
9:04 pm
Jacula
AKnitter - my Dad worked for Lucas Aerospace and was in at the start during the French collaberation over Concorde. Incidentally, there was no fault with the plane itself. Debris on the runway caused the final fatal fire in the wing.
9:05 pm
aknitter
i would have love to have flown on it, love to fly. have passport and will travel anytime!!!
9:05 pm
Jacula
Concorde's fuel was stored in the wings, you see. The debris hit the wing. Nuff said.
9:06 pm
aknitter
might there be a clue lying about for the en 7/32?
9:06 pm
mamabear
I'm with you, ak!!!! All I need is the time and the money!
9:06 pm
Jacula
en7/32 - what you call your foes.
9:06 pm
mamabear
en 7/32 - not your friends
9:07 pm
aknitter
ty jac, i always miss the obvious
9:07 pm
mamabear
OR plural of the boards you use to file your nails
9:07 pm
Jacula
If someone is not your friend they may be your en***. (Then plural it.)
9:08 pm
Jacula
Grant - I think it was either nail files or 'anti-allies' in this case.:-)
9:08 pm
JeeWhiz
Hi Everyone!

JeeWhiz
Sorry Tiffany won't go away. She is still stuck on 80's day.
9:09 pm
aknitter
nite mamabear
9:09 pm
Jacula
It's no good. I've been bursting to ask this for months. It's only something I see folks from USA use... what does 'ack' or 'ak' mean??
9:10 pm
Jacula
Nite Mamabear.
Hi JW.
9:10 pm
mamabear

9:10 pm
LeslieAnn

9:11 pm
Babblephish
ack = acknowledge
9:11 pm
Jacula
JW - I see a palm beach.
Grant - em*** boards. Like sandpaper.
9:11 pm
Jacula
Babblephish - Thank you!
9:12 pm
mamabear
when I said "ak" I meant aknitter
9:12 pm
Jacula
AKnitter - I think, in Mama's post, the 'ak' was you.
9:12 pm
Jacula
LOL! I just knew Mama would have to come back for a last look.:)
9:13 pm
aknitter
ak = me ack = sigh, disgust, arghh
9:14 pm
Jacula
Octarine - I think the 'ack/ak' you describe is probably the meaning I was seeking. Lianakate (where is she lately?) used it a lot. Is it a Jewish expression? It sounds it.
9:15 pm
aknitter
er 6 --- if you were from the u.k and your frien just arrived you might say he was h*** *** as opposed to being here later
9:15 pm
Octarine
no particular ethnographic basis afaik I think it is most likely from a comic or cartoon
9:15 pm
grant
Yup, they're both e 7/32's, but 9:06 asked about en
9:16 pm
Octarine
weird, I could have sworn I tried that to no avail earlier thanks!
9:16 pm
Jacula
er6/30 - take an he4 word meaning 'in this place' and remove the first letter, then add a three-letter 'no' word meaning 'right at this moment'.
9:16 pm
aknitter
minus the h octarine and with appologies to those in the u.k.
9:17 pm
Jacula
Well, AKnitter, us lot in UK always say it as 'heretofore'. Yeah right!
9:18 pm
aknitter
ah the english language, such a strange creature
9:19 pm
Octarine
got that right. I remember being struck by my German Teacher telling us there are no spelling bees in Germany...if you can say it you can spell it.
9:20 pm
aknitter
i might be able to say it, perhaps even spell it but type it?? forget that. my delete key is worn out
9:22 pm
JeeWhiz
Thanks for letting me know that Tiffany left the building. She wasn't going away easily. Glad to lose her finally. Now I will have to stay awhile to enjoy everyone's beautiful scenery.
9:22 pm
Jacula
The English language is a wonderful, ever-changing mongrel of a language and I love it. Without it, games like Babble, the unmentionable other game that sounds the same, and crosswords would be barely possible.
But for beautiful languages of other kinds, one need look no further than Gaelic and Welsh.
9:24 pm
GreyWoulf
And a wonderful good evening to all!
9:24 pm
aknitter
my grandmother was from scotland. i loved her words for different things. i still often use them ... anywhoooo
9:24 pm
Jacula
You know, once you know the alphabets for those last two I mentioned, they're not so hard. Well, not until your teacher says, 'That's what the book says but, actually....'
9:25 pm
Jacula
Flowery Wolfie! HELLO! *HUG* How's the mum-to-be?
9:25 pm
Octarine
I loved the old Onion article "Clinton deploys vowels to Bosnia"
9:25 pm
JeeWhiz
Hi Grey Woulf
9:26 pm
GreyWoulf
(*JAC*) -- she's doing fine -- just had to run out to the pharmacy to pick up her meds :)
Hi JW!
9:26 pm
Jacula
Octarine - That's not a version of the English to German joke is it?
9:26 pm
Octarine
mamabear, sorry didnt see the ? From Eire orignally and I like the flag better next to my name:-) Ive been in Evanston for the last 30 years
9:30 pm
GreyWoulf
So I see I just missed Mamabear :\
9:31 pm
harpjane
re 5/10? NOT the plural of re 4/4, the other one.
9:31 pm
Octarine
you mean like Mark Twains' essay on German? No, they mention sending vowels to places like Tygzhr and Shplxyx
9:32 pm
GreyWoulf
re5/10 -- to view again
9:32 pm
GreyWoulf
Has there been any word from doxy1 about her daughter?
9:33 pm
harpjane
GW-thank you! Too many r's and e's in the grid!
9:33 pm
GreyWoulf
Anytime, harp :)
(*hug*)
I agree!
9:33 pm
Jacula
LOL, Octarine.
Sorry for delay. I've learned Welsh but I just went off on the Net looking for Irish Gaelic phrases. Made the mistake of clicking on 'The Alternative Irish Gaelic Dictionary' and found some stuff I'd rather not know! *Blushes*
9:35 pm
Jacula
Wolfie - by my clock it's 12th Jan now and it's YOUR themed icon day - comics. Is that comic books or comedians?
9:36 pm
GreyWoulf
Jac -- comic strips -- specifically I was thinking web-based comics :)
9:36 pm
Jacula
That wolf looks ever so nice and fluffy amid those flowers! LOL.
9:37 pm
GreyWoulf
Doesn't he though, Jac? ;)
9:37 pm
Jacula
Web-based? Means I can't to The Beano much then. Weebl & Bob maybe?
9:38 pm
harpjane
sn 5/10? um, what are web-based comics? How would I find them? Will I be offended? bored? Or will I have another addiction? Should I proceed cautiously or throw caution to the wind?
If you can't answer all of my questions, perhaps you can try at least answering the first one?
9:38 pm
GreyWoulf
Jac -- use which ever you want -- when I suggested it, a lot of folks said "what are web comics?" so Babbler widened the scope --- not everyone has the time or twisted friends I do to find them ;D
9:39 pm
GreyWoulf
sn5/10 -- to address in a condescending manner (usu. with a curled lip)
9:40 pm
LeslieAnn
ack, much trouble with me 7/32. does anyone have it?
9:40 pm
Octarine
Think Snidely Whiplash stadning over fiar maid on the railroad tracks
9:41 pm
Jacula
I'll bet that Wolf's a bit like my cats and will bite eventually if you stroke him! Mind you, a wolf is a canine, and they don't tend to do that. You can watch tv and stroke a dog and not worry he's gonna bite through your wrist while your attention's away. A cat? Not so! They get so much pleasure out of being stroked that their survival gene kicks in and tells them to stop being blissful and be AWARE! Then they have to either scratch or bite! They're sorry afterwards, but they do have to do it.
9:41 pm
Octarine
and no, I cannot type to save my life
9:43 pm
Jacula
Octarine - for the life of me (though I have the word) I cannot see how the fair maid tied to the railway tracks clue works?? She's yelling, 'Save me!' I guess?
9:43 pm
GreyWoulf
Web based comics are a hit or miss proposition, harp --- some are very cool and some can be quite offensive -- one that fits both categories is "Something Positive" --- it is so over the top that you can only say "Man I wish I could do that for real!" I highly recommend it :)
9:43 pm
harpjane
so 6/18?
9:45 pm
GreyWoulf
But basically, web comics are just that -- comic strips that are only published online
One of my other personal favorites is "Two Lumps" - The adventures of Ebenezer and Snooch
I've mentioned it before -- the main characters are kitties :D
9:46 pm
harpjane
kitties? oh boy! I'll check it out!
9:46 pm
Jacula
me7/32 - think of a small child, forlorn after losing a race on school sports day. He or she might say 'me lo***' (present tense of to mislay something). Change the 'l' for the 3rd vowel in the vowel list.
9:46 pm
GreyWoulf
sorry Leslie -- don't have the me7 yet
9:47 pm
LeslieAnn
'sok i got it! done! hooray and thanks!
9:47 pm
GreyWoulf
so6/18 -- a gala event, a ball
9:48 pm
Jacula
Was it my clue that got it for you, LeslieAnn? Was it? Was it? LOL.
9:48 pm
GreyWoulf
looks like a misspellling of an apology
9:48 pm
Jacula
WELL DONE, LA.
9:49 pm
Jacula
so6/18 - French evening 'do'.
9:49 pm
GreyWoulf

Kathleen H - are you going by another name?
9:51 pm
Jacula
JBSAnno - Mama's been quiet for a while now, so I do believe she has really gone to bed, cough and all.
9:51 pm
GreyWoulf
Hi JB and ren!!!
(*Hugs*)
9:52 pm
JBsAnno
{{Hugs}} back. Sorry I missed your Mom, GW!
9:52 pm

9:53 pm
JBsAnno
It's a bear being sick in the winter.
Pun not intended!
9:53 pm
JBsAnno
I bet it'll be a hoot, GW!
(sorry, I'm just punny tonight...)
9:53 pm
Jacula
Ren - that was the crumble-topped one. I suppose you'll be wanting a chocolate-topped one next?*Jac grins evilly, seeing a way to transport the choc from her own home to Ren's, seeing as there's a 'revised eating programme' going on in her house right now.*
No! Don't anyone DARE say the word 'diet' or Paul will panic and feel hungry.
9:54 pm
JBsAnno
Hey, do you guys like my rainbow? Our apartment during school in Center City in 2001 had HUGE windows, great views.
9:55 pm
renfield

9:55 pm
renfield

9:56 pm
Jacula
The 'd' word isn't in today's grid. It's been in about 3 grids since Xmas though! HUMPH!
9:56 pm
GreyWoulf

*Jac grins as she now sees a money-making idea coming from JBSAnno's post about jumping high to catch the pie. 'Get Your Figure Back - Exercise With Jack! Jump High. Catch the Pie! Look good in the sack!'* (That's the chant, and also the name of the video, book, tv series. You saw it first here, folks! ROFLOL.

10:05 pm
harpjane
GW--Bill Clinton is a fo**** president. Drop the first letter.
10:06 pm
Jacula
Ren - sitting at the end of a rainbow is something most people never get to do. (Though rainbows are circles, you can see that in the air.)
10:06 pm
SueL
se + se 4 5 + os 4 4
10:07 pm
GreyWoulf
thanks ren -- two down, two to go
10:08 pm
Jacula
Wolfie - oy7. A realy silly word that puts an 'o' in front of your plural affirmatives. I said earlier that it probably describes Meg Ryan's famous scene from 'When Harry Met Sally', after which the old lady told the waitress, 'I'll have whatever she's having!'
10:08 pm
harpjane
ne 4/4?
10:09 pm
GreyWoulf
Got that from harp, Jac -- I meant the other 2 or's :)
10:09 pm
Jacula
ne4/4 - the name of the Scottish loch in which the Monster resides.
10:09 pm
GreyWoulf
ne4/4 -- Loch Ne**
10:09 pm
renfield
jacula - i know - it was during my running away and finding myself period of adjustment...made me fell special...
10:10 pm
harpjane
Thank you jac
10:10 pm
Jacula
Ren - you can design the costumes for my classes. E-mail me the results.
10:11 pm
Jacula
Ren - feeling special is a precious thing. Hang on to any moments like that.
10:11 pm
renfield
thank you mistress.... i will...8)
10:13 pm
Jacula
*YEUCH! Jac spits a mixture of white wine and soda water onto her monitor.* Okay, folks, I tried it in the name of our 'revised eating plan'. What a DREADFUL thing to do to a good wine! From now on I wll stick to my former plan of one glass of wine then 2 glasses of water...
Splutter, splutter...
10:14 pm
harpjane
Last word, and I'm dizzy, can't see es 4.
Too many possibilities for monkeying...
10:14 pm
Jacula
Harp - Have you got es5/10? If so, take an 's' out of it.
10:15 pm
GreyWoulf
Yay -- only 29 left!
Booo! -- they are all E's and M's
;D
10:16 pm
Jacula
Sorry folks, still choking over that horrible wine/soda mix here.
10:16 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Jac: Forget the soda!! Just drink the wine.
10:17 pm
renfield
jb - we can run away and become rainbow hunters!!!
10:18 pm
Jacula
JoJoFunLvg - That's all very well, but what about my calorie count for the day? Oh, sod it! I know you're right!
10:19 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Jac: So you are trying to lose weight?
10:20 pm
Jacula
JoJo - Not trying but doing so! I'm an old hand at this one. Thing is, as I've got older, I've got to appreciate the taste of a wine more. So, anything that depreciates that is abhorrent!
10:20 pm
harpjane
Thank you Jac, that did it!
10:21 pm
torgone
How does adding soda affect your calorie count? Just drink the wine and enjoy it. Add a little moderate exercise and you're good.
10:22 pm
renfield
hey torg!!!
10:23 pm
Jacula
Torg - have you any idea how many calories there are even in a dry white wine?
10:23 pm
torgone
Hiya ren!
For some reason, I just got the ho7 & ho8!?!?!?
10:25 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Jac: We have all gotten older. But, I have lost 75lbs in the last 8 years. Kept it off too. Tor is right. Excercise is the key. But, counting calories was also a key in my success. Forget the low carb thing, you gain the weight back.
10:25 pm
renfield
ok all of you wonderful people...i'm going home in about 5 minutes....byeeeee!!!
10:26 pm
mab
hi rennie, jacula, gw, jojo, jb, torgone. Jacs, judging from your pics, you don't need to lose weight, do you? I will not finish grid as have been sick today and now keep getting tossed off line. Quich hello and oh no. I'll go rainbow hunting, ren.
10:26 pm
brandyjack
90-110 calories in a dry white wine. something my wife won't listen to.... bitches about the size of her butt until I use the recipes from Truestar, then eats double portions and sucks back at least two glasses of wine with supper...
10:28 pm
Jacula
BJ - You're not wrong there! Re the calories, I mean.
10:28 pm
renfield
oh mab...i was just about to log off - i'm so glad to see you. how are you??
10:29 pm
mab
hmmm. relationship not going well, brandyjack?
I'm so lucky to not have to lose weight; I get deathly ill any time I actually reach normal weight! It's like aversion therapy for eating!
10:29 pm
torgone
I know, I know. I like ale myself. But I don't try to water it down. That would ruin it. I TRY to either drink less, or work it off with exercise. I'm not preaching. I'm way overweight, and I don't exercise enough.
10:29 pm
GreyWoulf
mab -- sorry to hear that -- on all counts
(*HUG*)
10:30 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Hi Mab: Sorry you are sick. I think I need to lose weight, but my husband thinks I am anerexic. Not even close.
10:30 pm
mab
thanks gw. I'll live. I think.
10:31 pm
renfield
ok love to you all....logging off and driving home...8)
10:31 pm
harpjane
how's this, GW? *F5*
10:31 pm
torgone
Bye bye ren. Be safe. Be cool. Be back.
10:31 pm
GreyWoulf
I hope so, mab -- it would be lonely around here without you!
REn -- safe journeys (*HUG*)
10:31 pm
Jacula
Drive safely, Rennie.
10:32 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Ren: **hugs**
10:32 pm
mab

10:33 pm
Jacula
Anyone here still need any clues for the grid?
10:34 pm
torgone
57 of them, Jac.
10:34 pm
GreyWoulf
Well, let's see.... yep -- still have 27 to go now, still figuring out what I need -- spending too much time chatting again :)
10:39 pm
JBsAnno
AAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEWWWW WWWWW!
Cat in the butter!
Jazz - get off the table NOW! (licking her chops)
See what I get when I ignore the chores for Babble? I hunt rainbows and jump for pies (and type in the occasional word on the grid, got 79 left to go), and the cat sneaks up on the table behind me and gets her licks in. Sigh.
ho 7/30, anyone? Buehler?
10:39 pm
brandyjack
ocular items + a small number of any item.
Wierd word.
10:41 pm
Niamh
ho 7/30, they kick in when your in your teens, and stop working when you hit menopause
10:42 pm
Jacula
JBSAnno - ROFLOL. That sounds like one of my cat's to a tee! The other can't be bothered to expend energy jumping up to nick things, she just waits with her mouth open below when anyone is preparing any kind of food. She's have loved being around when my kids were little - the dog used to do what she did beneath the high chair!
10:42 pm
brandyjack
That was for the ey7 which i just got (after being made aware of its existence). The ho7&8, well you've heard the old joke about 'how do you make a prostitute (sub much smaller word) ****, don't pay her". Or a condition that most teenage boys suffer from: ho***** poisoning.....
10:42 pm
mab
ever notice, jb, how cats never feel contrite? She knows the butter on the table is not for her, but if she thinks she can get away with it, well, there she is. feline delinquency.
10:43 pm
JBsAnno
TY, Nia, got it! (and losing them, at the same time. It's the dreaded "M"!)
10:43 pm
mab
thanks brandyjack for the ey's.
10:43 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Nia: My list, I have no ho7/30. I have a ho7/36 and a ho8/50.

brandyjack
i've still got 85 to go....
10:44 pm
JBsAnno
I keep chuckling at the log tonight! "No ho" ...better not go there!
Good clues, BJack, thanks!
10:44 pm
brandyjack
ho 7/ 36
ho 8/ 50
are all the ho's....
10:45 pm
Niamh
you're right JoJo, I just copied and pasted from the request...
10:45 pm
Jacula
BJ - you naughty man! Why am I not surprised that you didn't hold back from telling that 'ho7/8' joke?
10:45 pm
JBsAnno
mab, is it delinquency if they don't think they're doing anything wrong?
It's only wrong if they get caught!
10:46 pm
brandyjack
hey, someone asked.......... always give in to temptation, It may not pass your way again....
10:46 pm
Jacula
Dogs have masters, cats have servants.
Who are the fools in both cases?
10:46 pm
JoJoFunLvg
BJ: Sounds good to me!
10:47 pm
GreyWoulf
that's a philosophy I can embrace, Brandyjack!
10:47 pm
brandyjack
rice pudding with rum soaked raisins....... excuse me while I go get some more....
10:47 pm
JBsAnno
boo hoo! It's 11:45 here, and another 5:30am wake up call. Have to leave the party, folks! Jac, take a big swig of wine only to wash out the soda. ren, I'll be looking for rainbows in my dreams.
Oh, and I missed the pie!
10:48 pm
JBsAnno
It's worth the purr, Jac!
10:48 pm
Jacula
JoJo - at this time of night/morn here in UK I daren't even try to comment on your post of 'BJ sounds good to me!' I can only thank the Lord above that my other half isn't signed in here to reply to that post.:)
10:49 pm
JBsAnno
Jac, she did have a colon in there after BJ...
(eats shoots and leaves)
10:49 pm
torgone
Nyuk nyuk! BJ Sounds good to me too!
Nitely nite JB.
10:50 pm

10:50 pm
GreyWoulf
G'nite JB -- sweet dreams!
10:51 pm
GreyWoulf
Jac -- you naughty girl! ;)
10:51 pm

brandyjack
not a blessed thing.......... (ok, so I'm dense)
10:53 pm
Jacula
JBS - Yes, that reminds me - the talk of those who show up on the chats but not on the stats - where is Chessy? Chessy has been vying with me for weeks now on the stats.
10:54 pm
72 Temple Owl

10:56 pm
Niamh
later JoJo
10:56 pm
Jacula
Mi6 is part of the UK Secret Service. Oh, yes, I see, you want a clue for an mi6 word... I gave one earlier. It didn't seem to work when I talked about a small child lamenting over losing a race though. Try mi + red flowers often sent in dozens by lovers. Then take the first letter off and add the 2nd vowel in the vowel list.
10:57 pm
GreyWoulf
So long, JoJo -- Kirsten gets the same way every now and then as well (*hug*)
10:58 pm

Wolfie - All partners get like that, even me, as a seasoned 'on-liner', if their partner spends too long chatting to 'those faceless people on the computer'.
10:58 pm
72 Temple Owl

11:02 pm
Jacula
Wolfie - you do have 3 cat sounds, I hope? The first and second are the obvious ones, and the last, a 4/9, means stable buildings but sounds like a cat sound.

ri6/21 multiple people in a room, each of whom like to make simple poetry where the last word of each line sounds the same. bunch of ri****......
11:04 pm
Jacula
ri6/21 actually means 'Full of chinks, cracks, or crevices'. However, think of the edge of a cup or something, the ri*, and then add the lovers' flower and take off the 'r'.

Folks - I am gonna be a bit quiet for a few while I bring my mom up to speed -- not ignoring, just focusing :)

11:10 pm
72 Temple Owl

11:10 pm
Niamh
Temple Owl, I think she wants to know if you collect owls... my grandmother did, she's past on now, put I keep one of her owls on my computer table to watch over me
11:11 pm
Jacula
Harp - seriously, one day you must make a sound file for us and post it in BabAnon.
11:11 pm
hootowl
Sorry Temple Owl - Woulf said you said hello so I did too. Trying to IM him, do the puzzle and keep up with messages. Pain!
11:12 pm
harpjane
I will, Jac. I promise. It's one of my New Year's
Resolutions.
Others: lose 25 pounds, learn to make creme brulee, don't make any mistakes at work....
11:12 pm
72 Temple Owl
i did when i was in school- school mascot - and i will still pick one up now and then...to go with my pussycat collection
11:14 pm
Niamh
learn to make creme brulee hun harpjane? I hear tell that involves fire...
11:14 pm
Jacula
HootOwl - I know just what you mean! Get Wolfie to give you my messenger addy.
My son used to like owls and collected them. My fave owl ornament, one I got myself, is 3 owls in a tree. 2 are upright but one is hanging upside down. The motto on the ornament is: 'No one is always right.'
11:14 pm
72 Temple Owl
harp - speaking of creme brulee, you've reminded me - one of my friends is raving about a recipe for creme brulee french toast - a make-ahead for special mornings - i intended to post on babanon the day it went down
11:15 pm
Jacula
Creme brulees require a blowtorch for the finishing of. Not too much fire really.
11:17 pm
hootowl
I will tell him jacula. Temple owl I have to try and concentrate on the info woulf is trying to feed me so I'm going on the side for a while
11:17 pm
72 Temple Owl
night, hoot. nice to meet you...
11:18 pm
harpjane
Well, my husband knows how to weld, so I figure he can handle the creme brulee torch if I get too nervous!
11:19 pm
Jacula
Hoot - I've just told your son a thing or two, so, hopefully, between us, we'll get there. LOL.
11:19 pm
Niamh
my friend is an excellent chef and she was talking about needing a torch for creme brulee...
I'm not so sure she should operate a torch :)
11:20 pm
72 Temple Owl
no torch in french toast recipe - just oven : )
11:21 pm
hootowl
Night Temple Owl - I make my french toast in a frying pan - cast iron!
11:22 pm
Niamh
you should post that recipie Temple... maybe she'll be satisfied with that and not try to use a torch... she's very accident prone
11:23 pm
72 Temple Owl
lol niamh - i can definitely relate!
the oven comes into play to make a large amount at one time - and when you do that and soak bread overnight, it takes a different kind of heat to get it fully cooked.
11:24 pm
Jacula
French toast is fine, as are oven chips, if you have an electric, fan-assisted oven. If, however, you still like cooking with gas, like I do, then the recipes don't work!
11:25 pm
Niamh
it sounds very good... *wonder what kind of yummies I have in the kitchen* you're making me hungry!
11:25 pm
chic
Evening all, down to the last few, need clues for
ye 6/24
re 6/30
tu
11:26 pm
Jacula
ye6/24 - more than one affirmative.
11:26 pm
72 Temple Owl
really? i did not know that. can't remember if friend has gas or electric. she made it for christmas morning gathering.
11:27 pm
Jacula
re6/30 - scatters the seeds again.
11:28 pm
Jacula
Temple - gas heat is a moister heat than electric heat, and then fan-assisted dries things out faster.
11:28 pm
Jacula
Hence all the different instructions in my recipes in BabAnon.
11:29 pm
72 Temple Owl
i had electric once - and it was once too much - burned everything top of range
11:29 pm
chic
Brilliant, thanx, jacula and c'est fini....
