12:01 am
mrpresident

12:01 am
EasternBlue
chic - who is YOUR Walton??
12:02 am
Jacula
EB - fast? I'll have you know I am a Good Girl! ROFLOL.
12:02 am
JBsAnno
The Waltons had a cat named Calico, so I just guessed at the image...
12:02 am
cybernan
Hello again, everyone.
12:03 am
JBsAnno
181 words today, and I have to work, too!
12:04 am
EasternBlue
Jac - I meant POSTING so quickly...
tsk! tsk! your mind is in the proverbial gutter!!
ROFL!!
12:04 am
chic
He's Bill Walton of the Portland Trailblazers (basketball) now a coach somewhere and most important a huge Grateful Dead fan.
BTW, S 8/45
12:05 am
Jacula
EB - That's exactly what my OH loves about me! LOL.
12:06 am
Jacula
Chic - It's meant to be The Waltons (the mountain family from the UK/Canada series). We have a set of Waltons with 6 kids here in UK, however, they live in Liverpool.
12:07 am
Sushi
Oooh this is my first experience Flipping Over to New Puzzle at 1:00 am EST. Cool.
12:07 am
JBsAnno
Good morning, and good night, everyone! I'll look for you on the log later, have to go to bed.
It was fun on the previous grid, lots of vroom-vroom.
12:07 am
EasternBlue
chic - I like your take on the "Walton" theme...
I didn't watch the Walton's much either...I was more of a LHOTP fan...
12:07 am
JBsAnno
Sushi, trust me, you'll regret it around 11:00am. Especially if you're updating ACGME stats like me!
12:08 am
chic
Jacula, it's the rebel in me; see my 12:01 post...:-0
12:09 am
EasternBlue
JB -
Sweet dreams...catch you later!!
12:10 am
chic
EB, that translates to what..?
12:11 am
EasternBlue
chic -
LHOTP = Little House on the Prairie!
12:12 am
JBsAnno
<blowing kisses all around>
*bleary eyed tearful grateful expression on face*
"Good night, sweet Babblers! I want to thank each and every one of you...wha????"
<unceremoniou sly jumped on by hungry cats demanding food and why the heck are you up so late anyway?>
12:12 am
Jacula
33 words so far for me, just idly meandering through the new grid. How are the rest of you doing?
12:12 am
chic
I watched that for Michael Landon but I couldn't stand Melissa Gilbert...
12:13 am
EasternBlue
JB - nightie nite!!!
12:13 am
JBsAnno
*quick wave*
Night, everyone!
12:13 am
mrpresident
wa8/80
12:14 am
Jacula
JB - chuck a chicken carcase or a tub of margarine at the cats. It'll keep 'em happy. You may have some cleaning up to do later, though.:-(
12:14 am
EasternBlue
chic - he reminded me of my father...I liked to pretend to be Laura...read all the LHOTP books when I was in first grade!
12:16 am
Jacula
Damn! When the flip comes, I am half-asleep, I keep trying Welsh words.
12:17 am

12:22 am
brandyjack
Only 43 here....
12:23 am
GreyWoulf
Hi everyone -- gonna do a mad flurry of typing and then turn in early(for me) tonight --
Though, I just want to know -- who got the E's and R's on discount today? ;D
12:23 am
EasternBlue
mab - maybe you've turned into a bear!! I love sleeping when it's cool under warm flannel sheets & big ol' comforter!!
12:24 am

12:27 am
Jacula
Excuse me?? 'Yorker' isn't allowed? It is a cricketing term!
12:28 am
brandyjack
not very cricket of them eh?
12:28 am
EasternBlue
I thought I was a New Yorker...I must just be "New"!!
12:28 am
Jacula
Indeed not, BJ!
12:29 am
Jacula
EB - No! It seems you will be forever 'new'.
12:30 am
Jacula
Wolfie - glad to see you're taking some experienced parent advice and getting some sleep in now, before the birth.x
12:31 am
GreyWoulf
What's sleep?
12:31 am
mab
Polished off the R on the right.
12:32 am
Jacula
Mab - I've got rid of that 'r', too.
12:33 am
Jacula
Wolfie - sleep is the state of unconsciousness a brain reaches about 5-8 hours in every 24. Well, it does when you don't have babies in the house.x
12:33 am
mab
I'm so proud of myself. (ha)
12:33 am
EasternBlue
...or Babble to play!! 8 D
12:34 am
brandyjack
In other words, sleep is like my memory, a figment of someone elses imagination....
12:35 am
GreyWoulf
5-8 hours? are you sure? I'll have to give it a try some time ---- 4 hours of downtime is my typical :)
12:35 am
brandyjack
I like the little reminder Dr_God put up there to refresh after chagning your icon...........
12:37 am
Jacula
Not sure of your age, Wolfie, but if you're in your late 20s to 30s - 4 hours is okay. Before and after that - 8 hours! Dunno about after 48-years'-old, 'cos I haven't got there yet!
12:37 am
Jacula
Yes, I saw that, BJ. Do you think he's catering for the older and the drunken and sleep-deprived ones?
12:38 am
Blaze
Hail and hello checked the grid first tonight... LOL
Also where is the icon change list posted ?? thanks guys
12:38 am
GreyWoulf

12:44 am
mrpresident

12:44 am
Blaze
Jac thank you very much I saved it in word.... is there a section in Bab anon for this list ?
12:45 am
brandyjack
Babbler has a themse entry under other interests on Bab Anon but it hasn't been updated lately.
12:46 am
Blaze
thank you brandy jack... I did not think to look there...
12:47 am
Jacula
Blaze - Like BJ said, it has not been updated in there.
12:47 am
GreyWoulf
lots of fun Y and K words today :)
12:47 am
Blaze
got to go.... see you later.... a job interveiw tomorrow... want to be fresh and energetic.... good night/day to everyone
12:47 am
EasternBlue
I think themes are 'archived' after a little while...but they are subject to change here & there....so I think Babs waits until they've come & gone....
12:48 am
EasternBlue
Goodnight Blaze!
Good Luck with the interview....
12:48 am
JeeWhiz
Another month half over....sure went fast.
12:48 am
mab
Good luck, Blaze!
12:48 am
GreyWoulf
Good luck, Blaze! Rest Well -- see you tomorrow!
(*Hug*) and an extra (*hug*) for luck!!
12:50 am
Jacula
All the best, Blaze.
12:51 am
Jacula
I don't know about themes being archived. I've asked repeatedly for 70s glam rock (not Gary Glittery) icons but not got them yet!
12:51 am
Jacula
(62 words here right now, btw.)
12:52 am
brandyjack
68 here, including only one of the 8's.
12:52 am
GreyWoulf
75 here Jac ;D
12:52 am
cybernan
Good night, Blaze, and good luck! :)
12:53 am
EasternBlue
Jac - I think the 'archive' is for themes past...not ideas presented...usually Babs asks in the chat log & gets ideas in batches...you could always request the next time you see her on...I'm sure she'd add it (it looks like it would be in Feb. at this point!)....
12:54 am
mrpresident
the darn st8 is eluding me and I am sure it is staring me in the face (nah nah nah nah nah!)
help if possible?
12:55 am
Jacula
st8/45? Past tense of double-speakered in hi-fi.
12:56 am
mab
mrp: past tense of what we used to call a re6 player?
12:56 am
mrpresident
Jac, I swear I tried that!! aarrghh!!
12:57 am
Jacula
Weird thing is, I've got that word, but it's not showing up as ticked off on the 8-word stat list.:-((
12:57 am
mrpresident
Jac *refresh*
12:58 am
chic
65 words will have to do for now. I'm going to see the Harry Potter movie tomorrow finally! So nite all...
12:59 am
EasternBlue
Night chic...
sweet dreams!!
12:59 am
GreyWoulf
Enjoy, chic!! I did! :D
Sleep Well! (*hug*)
12:59 am
Jacula
MPres - I have and it still doesn't show with a red tick! I guess if I signed out and then signed in again it would. Can't be bothered to do that right now though.
12:59 am
mrpresident
My husband just handed me potato crisps and white wine!! :))
1:00 am
EasternBlue
Jac - are you sure you have all the 8's??
1:01 am
mab
That's one studly roo, mrpres. Looks like he should be smoking a cigarette.
1:01 am
EasternBlue
mrpres - I thought the hubby was away??
1:02 am
Jacula
Chic - sleep wel and enjoy the film. As Wolfie said, 'I did!' Next one's due out Xmas 2006 with a £2 million break for Harry and Hermione (the actors) to take their exams, AS levels for Harry and GCSEs for Hermione. I'm glad they are keeping their heads on and doing them.
1:02 am
mab
Oh, I'm sorry - is that a pic of mr. mrpres?
1:02 am
mrpresident
Thanks, that is my hunky-roo!! I had to *edit* out the rough bits for this rated-g forum!!
Husband was in bed all day... he is alive and well now!!
1:03 am
Jacula
EB - The stats say there is ony one 8. If that is so, I have it.
1:03 am
mrpresident
eastern, yes, he was away but came back... they always find their way back! 8@
1:03 am
JeeWhiz
Jacula, my stats say there are 8 8's.
1:04 am
EasternBlue
Jac - my stats show 8 8's...(sorry to be the bearer of bad news!!)
1:05 am
Jacula
Jw - oh sh (smelly stuff)! You are right.
1:05 am
EasternBlue
mr pres...it helps when they drop breadcrumbs to find their way back!!
1:05 am
GreyWoulf
I haven't seen it yet, so t7/36
1:06 am
mrpresident
eastern LOL
1:07 am
mab
I don't remember a kangaroo on the Waltons, but there could have been. Actually, I don't remember MLK and Rosa Parks being on either.
1:09 am
mrpresident
Oh, that's not a kangaroo, that's grandpaws (runaway-returned in the last season) dingo-horse! This baby makes him alot of money!!
1:11 am
JeeWhiz
I thought okey dokey should work. Guess not.
1:19 am
Tella
Shall I VIEW your PROFILES????
1:20 am
mab
knock yourself out.
1:21 am
Tella
excuse Me!!!!! any answers?????????????????
1:24 am
Jacula
Tella - yes, you can view the profiles any time. Excusde me for not bbeing here to answer when you questioned, I was off watching my fave Hurra Torpedo set again. Ever watched them doing 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' whilst destroying kitchen implements?
1:29 am
GreyWoulf
Well -- T's are done!
1:30 am
Jacula
Oh well, I guess not! It's the total answer to teenaged/middle-aged/old-aged frustratation about life and its so-called restrictions. You should watch it. It's brilliant (if you are mad, which I am). LOL.
1:30 am
mab
Wow! That's great!
1:32 am
Jacula
Mab - waht's great? Wolfie finishing the t's or Hurra Torpedo?
Wolfie - get back on line, man!
1:33 am
mab
I meant GW, but I like the idea of the other a lot. Smashing kitchen implements is what I would like to do, being quite mad also.
1:35 am
mrpresident
any clue for ro7/36 please? (blind)
1:38 am
GreyWoulf
Stuck on that one myself, mrp :)
1:40 am
judierae

1:41 am
Jera
*Yawn*
Mornin' all!
1:42 am
mrpresident
re7/36 clue please!
1:42 am
EasternBlue
hi Jera!
1:42 am
mrpresident
Hi Jera!
1:43 am
judierae
ro/7 when you bake in the oven
1:43 am
GreyWoulf
judie -- thanks but that was for the 7/28 :)
Having just figured out the 7/36 -- it is r + shellfish often consumed for its aphrodisiac qualities
1:43 am
GreyWoulf
Hi Jera!
1:43 am
judierae
oops sorry
1:44 am
Jera
Greetings, {{{GW}}}... did you enjoy your Moon??
1:44 am
judierae
same word, change the 3rd letter
1:45 am
GreyWoulf
no prob, judie -- done it myself a time or three ;)
1:46 am
mrpresident
thank You!!
1:46 am
GreyWoulf
Indeed I did, Jera -- and it was just wonderful when Kristianna looked at it tonight and said "That's a wolf moon!" with no input from either of us :)
1:46 am
EasternBlue
Woulfie - from the mouths of babes...don'tcha just love it!!
1:47 am
Jera
*wiping a tear*
That's simply precious!! I had a proud moment a few weeks ago when Gwyd spotted an extremely pale moon in the afternoon sky...
1:50 am
GreyWoulf
EB -- they are indeed a marvel to behold -- It is still amazing to me how much better she is at communicating than just a few months ago!
1:51 am
Jera
Ahhh... I miss preschool communication... Gwyd is usually more of the strong, silent type...
1:52 am
mrpresident
Oh Grey... aren't they beautiful!! That is sweet!!
1:52 am
rosalind230
morning all
1:53 am
Jera
Sprite is crocheting butterflies for Imbolc... can't believe January is half over...
1:53 am
mrpresident
did I tell you all about the obsenities my daughter yelled!!
1:53 am
Jera
Mornin' Rosalind!
1:53 am
mab
They are so keen at that age -- so ready and eager to absorb everything. Such a joy to behold, Kristianna and Gwyd, I should think.
1:54 am
EasternBlue
g'mornin' rosalind...
1:55 am
Jera
Sometimes I get flickers, that he is taking in & understanding everything... I'd just like a bit more output reassurance... people are getting a bit worried about him...
1:56 am
EasternBlue
Jera - a friend was telling me about their son...he didn't speak for 3 years...then once he started, it was full sentences (now he's 8 & doesn't stop talking!!)....
1:59 am
Jera
My husband was like that, but now Gwyd is 4 & still not stringing more than 3 words together at best... just started a testing process... hoping for the best...
1:59 am
GreyWoulf
EB -- that reminds of the old joke about the young man who didn't speak a word for the first 18 years of his life, much to the consternation of his family. Finally, one day he shouts to his father, "WAtch out for the Bull!" which was running towards him, thus allowing dear old dad to jump out of the way.
When confronted over his silence over the previous years, his explanation was quite simple ---"Well, gee, Pa, I never had anything important to say before now"
2:01 am
EasternBlue
Jera - speech therapists can do wonders too...hopefully the testing, etc. works well...
2:01 am
mab
Generally speaking, it seems kids are too much watched (by teachers and other pros) and probed to see if they've met the age-appropriate milestone. Some children just take a slightly different path, like the boy EB just mentioned.
2:02 am
GreyWoulf
Can anyone clue me in on the re6/18 and the w8?
Those are the only ones I have left in the last 3rd of the alphabet and I need to go to sleep :)
2:02 am
Jera
I agree, mab... 40 years ago (with my husband), it was merely anecdotal, like streaking at church (funny for a toddler, but not much beyond)
2:03 am
mrpresident
re6/18 add er to the end of the re4/4
2:03 am
Jera
I have 2 re6's they are both doing co4's again... you probably have those, though...
2:03 am
mrpresident
can I have a clue for the re5/14 please!
2:04 am
Jacula
I have 72 words. Haven't even looked yet for how many there are.
2:04 am
Jera
OOps, sorry, those are 24 points.. (my re6's)
2:04 am
GreyWoulf
mab -- I agree with you -- as soon as a child expresses the slightest variation from the books, there is always at least one Negative Nellie telling parents that they need to see a specialist
2:04 am
EasternBlue
wa 8 -
first part = opposite of 'peace'
second part = boats might be considered a water _ _ _ _ _
or witch _ _ _ _ _
or arts & _ _ _ _ _s....
2:04 am
mab
That sounds good, Jera, but I'm not sure that at four he's even close to missing the window for language acquisition. I hope everything works out well (and I bet it will).
2:04 am
Jera
I don't mind checking things out but I don't want him labelled or unneccesarily medicated...
2:05 am
GreyWoulf
mrp -- I should have just typed it in -- I didn't see how it twisted so discounted it's existence
2:05 am
mrpresident
wa8 is a ship that carries air***** for the airforce and they have wa* games
2:07 am
mrpresident
can I have a clue for the re5/14 please!
2:07 am
GreyWoulf
you can tell vocabulary is our most common form of game with this group -- Because all my friends play it I would have just said:
Worlds of Wa8 -- currently the most popular online MMORPG
2:07 am
EasternBlue
Jera - that's the good thing about speech therapists...they work on pronunciation, words in general...
2 of my nieces/nephews had them...
I don't think they can prescribe medicine as they are not doctors...
Keep reading & talking to Gwyd...asking questions & giving him 'time' to answer...some kids process words differently and think longer about responding than others...
We'll keep you in our thoughts too!
2:09 am
GreyWoulf
mrp -- to make a second attempt, like when we re*** a word that we got an oops message over cos we don't see any other options :D
2:10 am
mrpresident
thank you!! Didn't see that through the forest!!
2:11 am
Jera
I suppose if he is autistic, he would need some form of meds, so he can concentrate & function in school... I am prepared to homeschool if necessary, though...
2:11 am
EasternBlue
Jera - more of us should be like Gwyd...they say we have 2 ears to listen twice as much as we should speak with our 1 mouth!!
(I have trouble with that one...I'm a talker!!)
2:12 am
Jera
So am I & his big sister... I'm still not absolutley sure he's simply gotten in the habit of not being able to get a word in edgewise, LOL
2:13 am
Jera
I msu look really sick... my husband is up doing dishes at 3 am...
2:13 am
mrpresident
my darling daughter (7) and I were driving along and happened apon my son & husband walking along the side of the road.
I said to my daughter "Yell obsenities our the window at them"
She poised herself at the open window and yelled "OBSENITIES!"
2:13 am
GreyWoulf
ROFL, mrp!!
2:13 am
EasternBlue
Jera - there are so many alternative therapies aside from meds...I think for austistic children too (I'm thinking back to the days I worked at a summer camp for 'differently abled' children...). We had some kids who were 'fine' without their meds - but different structure, etc....
I don't have any schooling/background or a good path for info...but if I come across anything, I will send it your way....
2:14 am
mrpresident
the innocence of our babies!!

mr pres -
tee hee hee hee!!!! That's a RIOT!!! 8 D
2:15 am
GreyWoulf
I just had a similar experience tonight --- Kristianna has a scratch on her nose that I have no idea where it came from -- so I asked her, "Where did you scratch your nosey"
Too which she responded in a bright tone, "Like this!" and proceeded to scratch her nose with her finger :)
2:16 am
mrpresident
lol grey!! very cute!!
2:17 am
EasternBlue
Woulfie...

2:18 am

When my daughter was about to have her birthday (4th) a friend of ours was making a fuss about it... he said "so, if you are 3 now, what are you going to be on your next birthday?"
To which she replied "REALLY EXCITED!"
2:19 am
GreyWoulf
And on that note, I must go to bed -- should have turned in an hour ago, but can't seem to pull myself away ;)
Will be back tonight to find my last 43 :)
G'Nite and (*HUGS*) for all!!!
2:20 am
cybernan
I was going to bed an hour ago -- but got on a roll. 24 for tomorrow, see you then! :)
2:21 am
EasternBlue
mr pres...hopefully you've written these down to save as memories...too funny!!
Well kids...as Woulfie says...
I've reached the 1/2 way point and now must bid adieu...my eyes are getting sleepy...should've gone to bed at the flip...but resistence is futile!!
HUGS to all....
Nightie Nite!!!

mrpresident
Goodnite grey, cyber, eastern!!
2:25 am
Jera
Just got caught up from when I wandered a=off to shop at eBay... LOL @ mrp's daughter... that's what you get when you try to corrupt youth...
And tyvm EB, if you are still here....
2:27 am
mrpresident
Jera, I was half expecting her to tell me to 'get lost' but it didn't occur to me she didn't know what 'obsenities' meant!
2:29 am
Jera
I might have to try that on Sprite... she's nearly ten... I try not to cuss too much around her, so I usually say "expletive deleted" ...
2:30 am
Jera
What time is it in your part of the world, mrp?
2:31 am
mrpresident
it is 7.30pm (Sydney)
2:33 am
Jera
I still find that amazing, here we are chatting & it's such different times of day in different parts of the world...
2:38 am
mrpresident
sorry, was just on the phone to said daughter... my kids are 300km north having a wonderful beach holiday!!
2:39 am
mrpresident
any clue on the or6 ??
2:40 am
Jera
That's so cool, mrp! We go to the beach every other year, alternate with the mountains... this summer we are going to a gathering of the clans (Scottish) in the mountains
2:41 am
Jera
Sorry, I haven't gotten that far... just passed halfway & am getting my list in order so I won't get confused towards the end...
2:43 am
mrpresident
Scottish clan gathering... sounds like fun!! We seaside and flat plain holiday every year.
2:44 am
mrpresident
I start from the bottom of the grid and work my way up so I don't get confused either... I pen down what I am unable to find and keep going!!
2:44 am
Jera
I'm a huge Aussie-phile (must have been one in a former life)... I need to get my hands on some Vegemite for my Girl Scout Troop... we are celebrating Australia Day
2:45 am
Jera
I kept messing up & wasting paper, so now I just copy & paste the list onto windows & shrink the screen so I can see both... type in what I have more or less in order...
2:46 am
mrpresident
vegemite... my kids go through 800ml jarfuls at a time! Have you had it with avocado and cheese melt!?
2:48 am

Jera, if you use firefox browser, ther is an extension called Quicknote that you can open within Firefox. no need to minimize windows with it.

It's raining a bit here also, Ferrari. My son's just brougt me a cuppa. I was also, just looking out of the window, with my headphones on, going to say, since I saw daughter's b/f get into her car, say ,'Has she gone out without kissing me goodbye?' Seems she has, since car has now gone.:-(
5:17 am
mrpresident
LOL mum, cooking/ cleaning/ answering questions/ giving commands/ repeating questions/ challenging arguments/ feeding the animals...... and the list goes on and on and on!!
5:18 am

5:20 am
mrpresident
jac... I feel for you!! I am hating my daughter growing up... they forget us!!
5:20 am
SunnFlower
they'll understand one day jac
5:22 am
mrpresident
jac, I ban my family from going one step anywhere when I am feeling that way... they have to give me 'attention' and understand I love them, then they can move!!
5:22 am
SunnFlower
my eldest has just gone away until May, Seattle, Mexico, Guatemala and Bolivia and i doubt if I will hear from her
5:22 am
Jacula
Yes, MrPres., sometimes they do! Esp., if we've been through hell with them. These days, I don't know what face to expect from her. Doesn't really matter wehat I do or say in the meantime though. Last thing I did that made her hug me a lot was lose a few pounds of weight. Not much fun that, considering she has anorexia.
5:23 am
mrpresident
Jac!! Not a healthy situation for anyone!! I am sorry!!
5:23 am
Jacula
Oh, I'm sorry! Too much! Sorry, it just got to me.

5:24 am
Jacula
I think I'll just shut up now and look for words.
5:26 am

Jac, hope you get/got help for yourself and the rest of your family... eating disorders are horrid, horrid and painful! I feel so much for you...
5:27 am
mrpresident
Ok, help with the co8 please!! eluding me!!!
5:28 am
Jacula
MrPrs - the so-called 'help' for the rest of the family consisted of laying all the blame on 'The Mother' - so, as we all felt, not much bloody help. We've worked it out though, as best we can.
5:28 am
SunnFlower
why isn't yorker a word? babble obviously doesn't play cricket. don't get upset jac' easier said than done I know
5:29 am
Jacula
Sorry, haven't looked at BJ's list yet, sso don't know scores, but don't have a co8 yet here.
5:29 am
Atalante
bable certainly doesn't play cricket - there's at least a few cricketing terms it doesn't accept ... *sigh*
5:30 am
SunnFlower
mother's are an easy target aren't they, so grossly unfair
5:31 am
Jacula
Ferrari - Indeed they are! 'Blame the mother!' the easy way out for everyone, it would seem.
5:31 am
mrpresident
Jac, it's always our 'fault' . We did give birth, survive, then manage to feed and cloth them, give them love/warms/education/more love, care for them when they were sick, sacrifice every cent we have.... and we are still to 'blame'.... tell them to FO and shut their pie-hole!!
5:32 am
Jacula
MrPres - you might be proud to know that on behalf of all we mothers, I did just that!
5:33 am
mrpresident
COOL JAC!!

Originally it is French, Jacula. 'Ne me quitte pas'.
I know Nana Mouscouri has sung it, among others. The english version has known a lot of different artists bringing it. The Afrikaanse version is by Herman van Veen and almost made me cry, to tell the truth.

babble babble, your grid is a mess
babble babble, you have no regrets
babble babble, your words are so sad
hot dog babble, that fart word is bad!!
6:39 am
Jacula
Hiya Yoink! That song has distinct possibilities. There are so many that could though. Do you think I should e-mail Jamie to as for his top 3 or 4 that we should parody?
6:41 am
Jacula
MrPres- the David Bowie one is good so far.
6:41 am
Yoink
Heh, I had thought of "Your grid is a mess" too!
6:42 am
Jacula
Never mind what Dr_God replies, 'Your grid is a mess' goes into the Babble archives!
6:42 am
SunnFlower

"I want to ride my bicycle, but babble holds me here...
I want to ride my bicycle, but I won't get it done I fear..."
6:44 am
Jacula
Oh, you wear exercis bikes out, Ferrari? I won't boher putting our on e-bay then! Just ask for a virtually unused price before you bid! LOL.
6:45 am
Yoink
Bye Ferrari, and I have to go too, just a flying visit.
6:45 am
SunnFlower
that's the story of my life sprite, exercise the brain with babble then the body
6:46 am
sprite
Sounds like a very healthy life style to me, ferrari!
6:46 am
Jacula
Damn! Someone else on the exercise bike? I'll have to replace the drive belt YET AGAIN!
6:46 am
SunnFlower
I've had at least 6 jac I like to 30 miles or an hour don't always manage cos I'm too lazy

6:47 am
mrpresident
roddick is slapping lammer all over the court!!
6:48 am

6:49 am
mrpresident

6:50 am
mrpresident
ferr.... I agree!
6:51 am
Jacula
Teenagers with Tyremarks! That has a certain 'designer' ring to it, does it not?
6:51 am
mrpresident
Jac, next time those little angels say that, grab them by the handle bars and show them what a real wheelie is like!!
6:51 am
SunnFlower

6:52 am
sprite
Got to go... thanks for the fun, guys, and happy hunting.
6:53 am
SunnFlower
bye sprite, really must go now lol
6:53 am
mrpresident
then give them a super wedgie and perch them on the seat "removed for their ultimate comfort", and tell them to FO and shut their pie-hole!
6:54 am
Jacula
A yea! A real wheelie! I'd rather show them that little baby on a motorbike or in a car! Now that would have them sh8/55 themselves!
6:59 am
mrpresident
Oh Jac... I haven't had a good laugh in such a long time! Thanks!!
7:04 am
mrpresident
edited my song (sung to 'rebel rebel')

7:11 am
Molecule
Hello everyone!
7:14 am
Molecule
Hi Molecule!
7:15 am
Jacula
My friend, Aileen A - a well-known novelist is so blind she has to have just 2 to 3 letters at a time put up in largest font possible on her keyboard. This does not prevent her from writing romantic sagas that sell!
7:16 am
FMitch
Hi Molecule - you've come back for more then? :)
7:16 am
Molecule
haha! yeah... it's kinda fun I guess..
7:18 am
FMitch
you'll be fully addicted like the rest of us before too long!! It's quite a good grid today - enjoy!!
7:18 am
Jacula
Keep on with that for the whole song through, Mr. Pres. It's a winner!
7:18 am
Molecule
will do, how many words?
7:19 am
Molecule
whoa, didn't expect that many!
7:19 am
Jacula
181 words in total today.
7:20 am
FMitch
Hey Jac, love the idea of the parody song - can you done one on the ZZTop song you mentioned earlier - we can start a section on BabAnon!!!
7:22 am
Jacula
FMitch - I could do one one the ZZTop song I mentioned, but I'd like Dr_od to give us a title to go for really.
7:23 am
FMitch
:) have you emailed him?
7:24 am
Jacula
Dr_od? LOL! And Roflol. (Listening to Alice Cooper's 'Poison' which could also apply to Babble! right now).
7:25 am
Jacula
FMitch- not yet, no. Will do shortly.
7:25 am
granadan
first I was afraid, I was petrified
when you said 181 words I think I almost died....
7:26 am
FMitch
certainly would be appropriate for a couple of the grids we have had recently.
Good one grandan!!!!!
7:26 am
granadan
go on now go, walk out the door - youve finished the whole grid and you wont help us anymore...
7:27 am

7:56 am
Jacula
miya - has your bedroom door been relocated now and did the insurance pay for it? I hope it did!
7:57 am
granadan
pass that tissue again, the farting dachshund is on parole and on my lap for half an hour - and is being sick....
7:57 am
Miyavi_fan
aaah, it is lovely to have my door back ^_^ So now I can get on with all that I do in peace...no more family members watching me air guitar :D
7:58 am
Jacula
Look Miya -I once stayed up a whole night, as a mother, in your defence. I don't want to see you playing silly victim now! Sorry! You don't know about all that.
7:58 am
Miyavi_fan
Granadan...?! The farting dachshund?!
...I didn't know you knew my Grandpa :D
<<silence, brain!>> *passes box of tissues and stands well back*
7:59 am

8:05 am
lola100

*one more circuit of the tank and the brain graduaslly goes back to zero*
8:06 am
lola100
Hi Fmitch! : )
8:07 am
FMitch
Hey lola - is the icon from SA?
8:09 am
lola100
FMitch, yes. It's the Drakensberg (Dragon's mountains)...or at least a few of the peaks along the range : )
8:10 am
Miyavi_fan
wow! My icon's a little less imaginative, but it's becautiful to me :D
8:11 am
lola100
miyavi, I'm just lazy, that's all! We had scenery day last week and I still haven't changed it : D
8:11 am
Jacula

8:12 am
granadan
Awww Jac
*throws cushion at Miy and sulks*
8:12 am
Miyavi_fan

8:12 am
FMitch
Just been looking up where that is Lola - not a part of SA I made it to mind you I've only been a few times and that was on business but did have one great w/e at Sun City.
8:13 am
Miyavi_fan
hey hey hey! I'm of a fragile mental state, Granadan! I just lost something on an e-bay auction, that is :)
Must...take...vengeance. ..
8:14 am
granadan
must...kill...high...bidder
I hate it when that happens!
8:14 am
periwinkle
clue for the de8 anyone?
8:15 am
granadan
someone who de5/12's
8:15 am
lola100
FMitch, did you do the valley of the waves?? I've never been to sun city myself. I did most of my holidaying in game reserves and up in Zimbabwe : )
8:15 am
FMitch
de5/12 and then turn it into ther person that does it.
8:15 am
MissyMe
Peri de8
This is the actual person who stops someone from doing
de5/12 above this word
8:16 am
Miyavi_fan
Me too! butchering spree time. We're looking for a rabid X Japan fan carrying a CD like the one in my icon ^_^
8:16 am
marigold
de8 - To prevent or discourage from acting, as by means of fear or doubt
8:16 am
periwinkle
I have tried making the de5 into de8 and must be spelling it wrong cause it won't accept it :(
8:17 am
MissyMe
Peri...add some extra "er's" at the end
8:17 am
FMitch
Lola it is the most amazing surreal place wonderful, extravagent and actually given the inbalance of £ in the country a bit obscene but I loved every min. I have nothing but v happy memories of SA.
8:18 am
periwinkle
got the de8, it needed an extra consanent added in the middle
8:19 am
granadan
double consonant
8:19 am
Miyavi_fan
Why won't it accept 'froat'? Chav language for throat?
8:19 am
MissyMe
Peri I forgot to mention that...
8:19 am
lola100
FMitch, that's great to hear! Would you go back then?
8:21 am
FMitch
Lola - oh yes for sure, there si so much more to see and the people are wonderful, want to see Durba, and Cape Town and well the list is pretty long ... and so is the flight.
8:21 am
periwinkle
anyone have a clue for the co8/45
8:22 am
lola100
peri, add the ro6/18 : )
8:22 am
periwinkle
don't have the ro6/18
8:24 am
lola100
FMitch, tell me about it! If you go to Durban remember to head up the north coast....some very unique ecology and beautiful game reserves that way....*sigh* very homesick now! : (
8:24 am
MissyMe
ro6/18 You turn something around in a circle... you ro**** it
8:25 am
Uneaixoise
the earth ro****** around the sun
8:25 am
lola100
ro6/18- to turn around on an axis : )
8:25 am
lola100
Hi une! : )
8:26 am
periwinkle
thanks everyone, found the ro6 and then the co8 before I saw your additional clues
8:26 am
granadan
Une is that Jonboy?
8:27 am
Uneaixoise
hey, lola! And, yes, in all his black and white glory with a sprig of grass between his teeth!
8:28 am
Miyavi_fan
Hey Une ^_^ Who's Jonboy...somebody I should know about? *raises eyebrows*
8:29 am
lola100
*lola feels old*
8:29 am
MissyMe
He's one of the Waltons...old TV show
"Goodnight, Jon Boy..."
8:29 am
Uneaixoise
hey, miyavi! today's theme is the old tv show, the waltons--John Boy (Richard Thomas) was a key character :-)
8:30 am
Miyavi_fan
oooh...looks like I'm slightly out of touch with the theme, then :/
8:31 am
Uneaixoise
he was typecast for a long time but now has had some considerable success on the Broadway stage in some solid dramas
8:31 am
MissyMe
Miya lol only slightly... :)
8:32 am
Jen
Morning everyone!
8:32 am
FMitch
LOL Lola - you feel old!!! I am quite a few years older than you, darn now I feel old ....
8:32 am
granadan
miy dont worry - it was 1972 - before even my time! But i did think jonboy looked a bit tasty in "IT" when he was older....
8:32 am
Jen
Sorry guys, I don't do The Waltons. :)
8:33 am
MissyMe
Anyone else think ca7/40 is a funny word? I'm trying to think when it would be appropriate to use it in a sentence...
8:33 am
Miyavi_fan
lol Missy! :)
Granadan, Stephen King's IT? I've read the book...trying to work up the courage to watch the film :/
8:34 am
MissyMe
I changed my Grim Fandango icon for this Walton one despite the fact I never watched the show when it was on
8:34 am
DarleenMB
Missy ... how's about, my that was a ca7/40 cake!
8:35 am
FMitch
MissyMe - Anne of Green Gables hair was more ca7/40 colured than mine?
8:35 am
MissyMe
Darleen Good enough lol! :D
8:35 am
granadan
miy - have you read the shining? The film was crap. It was great, Pet semetary gives me nightmares....
8:36 am
MissyMe
FMitch...that one is bordering on poetry :)
8:36 am
DarleenMB
I LOVE stephen king novels. All the framing shows through but it's his characters I really like best. When I got to the end of IT (the book) I cried because I had to say goodbye to the characters.
8:37 am
granadan
Oh yeah - Im nearly at the end of "Needful Things" and Im going to miss it.
8:37 am
Miyavi_fan
yup, I've read the Shining :) must get over my morbid fear of evilly possessed hotels lol :D
8:37 am
DarleenMB
yes, another good one! Have you read the Tower series/
8:38 am
Miyavi_fan
I quite enjoyed Carrie, though it was far too short! It really intrigued me...the film was disappointing though
8:38 am
MissyMe
Granadan Which version are you referring too, there was a Shining T.V. miniseries and The Shining movie? I'm currently waiting for the second to last Dark Tower Book so I can set them all in the row and start reading from beginning of the series to the end. Should take me about a year lol
8:38 am
DarleenMB
Miy, if you ever get to the state, go to Estes Park, Colorado. The Shining was "set" in the Stanley Hotel. Both the book and the movie.
8:38 am
granadan
the film of green mile was brilliant - true almost to the word to the book. tower series?
8:39 am
DarleenMB
I read the first Tower story about 20+ years ago in the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. I was HOOKED and thrilled when he began churning out novels. I have the last 2 and am dragging my feet about reading them cause they weigh a ton.
8:40 am
DarleenMB
Yeah, the Dark Tower series, the Gunslinger? Based on the Song of Roland and weirder than anything King has ever done.
8:41 am
MissyMe
The Dark Tower series...the story of Roland the Gunslinger's quest to find and fix the Dark Tower
8:41 am
Uneaixoise
did you ever read misery or gerald's game? those were two of his best
8:41 am
Miyavi_fan
Darleen...er, think I'll pass on that :) Might just be the thing that pushes me over the edge ^_^; Stephen King is one of my favourite authors though. He and several others inspired me to want to be an author myself
8:41 am
Miyavi_fan
Argh, Misery had me cringing in my chair! "hobbling"...*shudders*
8:41 am
granadan
Oh wow check out
http://www.stanleyhotel.c om/
the picture of it in the snow is AWESOME!
8:42 am
DarleenMB
Yes to Misery. Couldn't get past the first chapter in Gerald's game.
8:42 am
granadan
I loved misery... another one that i COULDNT put down. and then wished I hadnt finished.
8:42 am
Uneaixoise
so you're not really "hard core"?! :-)
8:42 am
Jen
Estes Park is the cutest town!! Growing up, we used to go there every summer.
8:43 am
granadan
But his greatest EVER book? Have you reaD "tHE sTAND"?
8:43 am
DarleenMB
Well now why didn't I think of that? The Stanley is very old and a landmark in Estes Park. It's a real beauty, isn't it?
8:43 am
MissyMe
Darleen I ordered the Song of Susannah and The Dark Tower but only the last book came. The Song one apparently got lost in the mail so I had to reorder it from my book club I'm sitting here looking at the Dark Tower book antsy to start reading it
8:44 am
Miyavi_fan
Une, if you were talking to me, then...hard core?! moi?!
8:44 am
DarleenMB
I'm lost, Granadan, sorry. But I've read The Stand and it was my all time favorite until I read IT. The Dark Tower series is off all on its own.
8:44 am
MissyMe
Granadan I've ready that one about 7 times...
M-O-O-N... that spells obsessed!
8:45 am
Bubbles
afternoon/morning all
8:45 am
Uneaixoise
miyavi, was actually referring to Darleen saying she couldn't get past the first chapter of gerald's game :-)
8:45 am
MissyMe
Morning bubbles :)
8:45 am
granadan
i WOULD LOVE TO DO THE CASTING FOR A FILM OF THAT. lARRY WOULD HAVE TO BE kIEFER SUTHERLAND (YOUNGER). tHE WALKING DUDE WOULD HAVE TO BE THAT CHAP WHO SANG IN \sPANDAU BALLET... HE HAS THE EYES AND GRIN.
8:46 am
granadan
Flaming caps lock
8:46 am
DarleenMB
LOL, Man I thought you were getting really excited there for a moment!
8:46 am
Miyavi_fan
Okay, cool...I thought it didn't make much sense, but nobody else seemed to be responding ^_^
hey, I'm just arrogant :D
8:46 am
MissyMe
granadan The T.V. miniseries, The Stand, was wonderful...I identified with the actors with their characters immediately
8:47 am
granadan
I dodnt know it had been done!
*frantically starts tapping google*
8:48 am
Uneaixoise
haven't seen you around much lately, miyavi . . . were you on vacation? or just logging on late at night?
8:48 am
DarleenMB
Speaking of The Stand, SK actually lived in Colorado for a while way back when. Visiting Estes Park and the Stanley is where he got the idea for the setting for The Stand. just fyi.
8:48 am
MissyMe
Rent it if you can...Stephen King is a hit or a miss when he puts his books to film but this one is a winner. Randal Flagg is scary....everyone just fits their character so well...
8:49 am
trishtrash
MissyMe... I thought they could have done a better job with Harold Lauder & Frannie... the others were mostly spot on, though.
8:49 am
Bubbles
hi missy, how are you?
Not sure if i should start this puzzle or do what i'm paid to do!!!
8:50 am
Miyavi_fan
Une, I've been skiving a little ^_^
Hey Eva! How are you? :)
8:50 am
MissyMe
Trish...I thought the actor that played him was great. He started out wimpy and whiney and developed very well throughout the series. :)
8:51 am
MissyMe
Fine today Bubbles, and you? This puzzle is full of words with odd suffixes but was fun to do.
8:51 am
evanonut
peachy dandy miyave - just checking in.
* crosses self at thought of miyavi sky diving *
8:52 am
evanonut
* tries to eat oatmeal - can't do it - runs to kitche for a waffle *
8:52 am
trishtrash
Heh, each to their own :) I read him as burning with angst and frustration and intellect... he seemed wimpy in mind as well as in spirit on the show. Lack of spirit was my problem with Frannie, as well.
8:52 am
Bubbles
good thanks, think i'll give it a go
8:52 am
Uneaixoise
miyavi, had to look that one up in the English-to-American dictionary!
8:53 am
Miyavi_fan
sky diving?! is this something I should know about? lol :3
incidentally, I will sky dive...if there's a crowd of j-rockers waiting for me at the bottom ;)
8:53 am
Miyavi_fan
oops! Sorry Une :) What's the American equivalent?
8:54 am
Uneaixoise
"playing hooky" is supposedly the American equivalent--but don't stop--love learning all these Britishisms!
8:54 am
MissyMe
Trish...I'm with you on Frannie. But the read I read Harold in the book he was extremely intelligent but self-conscious, low self-esteme...I thought the actor pulled the combination off well, and slowly became menacing as he gained confidence in himself
8:55 am
MissyMe
Okay Bubbles...I'm here if you need any clues :)
8:56 am
Miyavi_fan
Right ho! I'll November that next time I come up the apples and pears to go on my box. Though trying to understand some Yankee speak can drive a Brit sixes and sevens!
*beams smugly*
8:56 am
Bubbles
thanks, might have to take you up on that seeing as bobsta's no longer around for me to nick his words!!!!
8:56 am
Uneaixoise
understood every word based on lots of old Brit movies on TV!

Gah, I'm going brain dead here. Had to do some searching... speaking of horror writers ... anyone read Robert McCammon's Swan Song? If you liked The Stand you'll like this one.

Missy, I wish I had felt the same thing, since that's what happened so well in the book. I just didn't buy his 'evolution' as it were.
If they filmed the Dark Tower, who would you want to play Flagg? (since I assume the actor from the Stand would be a little old for it)
8:59 am

Nope - Ive been reading quotes from the series - and a lot of it isnt in the book (and yes, Ive got the unabridged version). I hate it when they start adding to dialogues for effect.

miya, when I worked au pair in Paris with a Brit friend from Gloucestershire, I learned LOTS of new words and phrases . . . I vividly remember how shocked she was that I didn't know what she meant by "taking the mickey (or p***) out of someone"!

The one British phrase that just threw me when I first heard it is the expression Brits use when they telephone someone, they "knock them up"...this phrase has a VERY different meaning across the pond.

9:10 am

Snape has that slyness, about him that I see in Randall Flagg. Secret thoughts play all over his face when he gives his lines, especially when he smiles.

I'm good, mya! Had a nice holiday, etc. We've had great snow so I'm skiing a lot, now that the Christmas Music Vortex is done with me!
9:32 am
ToeSockMonkey
Missy - what programs is that?
9:33 am
lola100
*gasps* Missy! You wouldn't cheat.... would you?? : O
9:33 am
MissyMe
Miya...those words sound like lyrics, is that what they are?
9:33 am
Miyavi_fan
Wow, Harp, sounds great! I love to ski, but by some bizarre twist of fate I just never get to do it locally :D
9:34 am
MissyMe
Toe...the one he made that translates the puzzle into the first two letters of each word, the points for each and other stats...
Is it cheating to use it?
9:34 am
lola100
Missy, it also spits out all the words! : )
9:35 am
Sushi
Miya - you'll be happy to know I can pullup translation.com faster than I can find babble-words. I have been decoding your French as you type it. Mine Canadien francais is underused.
9:35 am

Missy, I think they were :) Can't remember the name of the song, though. Most likely "I love you baby"
Just a wild guess
9:35 am
harpjane
skiing changes your whole outlook on those cold dark wet days known as winter.
9:36 am
MissyMe
lola ACK! I wouldn't want that! Maybe he could modify the program to just give us what he usually posts in General topic on BA
9:36 am
Miyavi_fan
Lol Sushi! I wish I'd thought of that when an internet friend was talking to me in Spanish...
9:36 am
ToeSockMonkey
missy - sounds awesome! Not sure if it would be cheating. i mean we give clues on here all the time so I think it's ok
9:36 am
Miyavi_fan
Indeed it does, Harp...winter is my favourite season anyway, though :) Possibly because my birthday is in it, and coming up :)
9:37 am
MissyMe
Toe...lola just said the program also spits out all the words! If he could modify it so it doesn't and sell it to us he wouldn't have to worry about posting it on BA any more. :)
9:38 am

Obviously, an international holiday and day of celebration :D

9:41 am

9:45 am

MissyMe
Toe, they do seem to fit well but what do I know. I don't know either of them personally and only get info second-hand from the paparazzi
9:52 am
DarleenMB
TSM that makes two of us. I do not care for JA, never have. Not that I KNOW her or anything just don't think much of her acting abilities. But Brad seems to just glow with his new family. He reportedly said a couple of years ago he wanted a big family, 6 or 7 kids. And he's 40. Jen is 36. Do it now or don't. So now he's with Angelina who loves kids and plans on adopting one from every continent.
9:52 am
Babbler
Toes, I was thinking, shall we have a Brad and Angelina day? Where all the guys are Brad and all the girls are the gorgeous Angelina? What do you think?

10:02 am
DarleenMB
Yes Babbler, he is, but a genius of a nutter.
10:02 am
Miyavi_fan
lol Darleen! Later :)
10:02 am
Babbler
see you later, Darleen! have fun! : )
10:03 am
MissyMe
Darleen lol have fun! work those buns...work those buns!!!
10:03 am
Miyavi_fan
wah, Babs, I missed your post on your niece! That's so cute!!
10:03 am
Babbler
agreed, Darleen, both a genius and a nutter! : )
10:04 am
harpjane
This is a deceptively hard grid. Yes?
10:04 am
Babbler
oh Miya, she's gorgeous!!! If I could show you right now, I would. :D
10:04 am
MissyMe
indeed Harp...the suffixes are what threw me
10:05 am
harpjane
Oh. There are suffixes? That might help! I can't even get the four letter words today....
10:06 am
Miyavi_fan
awww, I love baby/toddler smiles! I could do with one right now...I've just found out the drummer of one of my favourite bands has broken his neck...
10:06 am
MissyMe
plenty of "er's" around...and the ol' prefix standby "re"s
10:06 am
Babbler
Lola, I missed your post about a hot toddy! *makes a super-dupe hot toddy, leans over and puts it on Lola's desk*
yes sirreee..... it's good to be home! :D
10:06 am
MissyMe
Miya! that's horrible! How'd it happen?
10:07 am
ToeSockMonkey
Although Angelina is a little out there with her views om relationships, love, and passion... Kinda creepy if you haven't heard of it!
10:07 am
lola100
Oooh, thanks babs! *lola sips the best hot toddy she has ever tasted in a lady-like fashion*
10:08 am
Babbler
omg, Miya, that's horrible. what happened?
10:08 am
ToeSockMonkey
M_Fan! *tickles*
10:08 am
lola100
Angelina Jolie is a 'little' out there??
10:08 am
Babbler
what do you mean, Toes?
10:08 am
MissyMe
Toe, I haven't. I get so much of my news second hand about the stars. I just enjoy them for the parts they play and don't worry too much about their personal lives.
10:09 am
Miyavi_fan
According to what I just read, he actually managed to do it by drumming too hard...watching a video of his band playing live, I can believe it...:/
10:09 am
Babbler
Miya, so he was head-banging too hard? Oh dear. Will he get better? What are they saying?
10:10 am
MissyMe
Man, Miya, talk about Xtreme Rock! Is it serious to the point of being permanent?
10:10 am
ToeSockMonkey
Well in case you were curious, Angelina had a 10 year romance with another woman, even while she was married. Not only was she with another woman, she got into self mutilation with the woman. ICK!
10:10 am
ToeSockMonkey
The only part that wigs me out is the cutting :( not cool
10:11 am
Babbler
is that true, Toes? For real?
10:11 am
MissyMe
Ouch Toe! That's so sad... Self-mutilation is a sign of low self-esteme. I hope she's grown strong enough to get over it
10:11 am
Jen
Between Angelina's wackiness, Madonna's weirdness... wonder what they are going to tell their kids when they get older!!
10:12 am
ToeSockMonkey
She called it quits with the woman a year after adopting her son Madox. So her and Brad must me happy together.... now :)
10:12 am
Miyavi_fan
*reading frantically* I'm translating from Japanese as fast as I can...it's an awful thing to have happened though, the band have split up now but had a lot of lineup trouble...the guitarist died of accidental suicide in 1998, which lead to the suicide of a lot of fans :(
10:13 am
Babbler
Madonna's not telling her kids anything..... and by the sound of things, they don't want to know either! Lourdes just wants a 'normal' Mum......
10:13 am
MissyMe
lol Jen Madonna's always given me a good laugh. If she was a man and old she'd be considered eccentric.
10:13 am
ToeSockMonkey
I know what kind of life are these kids getting? Spoiled, and not enough attention? Learning that anything goes because of what mom or dad's name is?
10:13 am
MissyMe
Miya...I have never heard that expression before, accidental suicide?
10:14 am
Babbler
Miya - accidental suicide? hmmm. Sad to hear about the fans. dear dear.
10:14 am
ToeSockMonkey
M_Fan - that is so sad :( *eyes well up with tears* Lets save the world! Wonder twin powers activate! lol ;) Honestly it is heart breaking to hear. Makes you want to do more about things like that doesnt it? Help out...
10:14 am
Miyavi_fan
Uh huh...when you are stressed, tying something loosely around your neck is supposed to relax you. The guitarist tried it...while drunk :(
10:15 am
ToeSockMonkey
Babbler, I am sorry I haven't done this yet ((((babbler)))) :D
10:15 am
Babbler
Toes, not sure that applies to Madonna's kids? She's coming across as a fairly strict mother.
10:15 am
Miyavi_fan
Toes, that's exactly how I feel! I'm sitting here working my way through a huge wad of kleenex :(
10:15 am
Babbler
Miya, that's a big load of twaddle.
10:15 am
Babbler
(((( Toes!! )))) :D
10:15 am
ToeSockMonkey
Babbler - True but she makes me think of that "mommy dearest" movie.... *shivers* She looks like a good mom though
10:16 am
MissyMe
Miya...that IS sad :( I feel sorry for the parents who have had to deal with the death of their children for such a frivilous thing...(not meaning the death of the guitarist was frivilous but what a thing to kill yourself over!)
10:16 am
Miyavi_fan
What, about the something around neck relaxing you...thing? Lots of fans think it was a murder, though. Hide had no reason to kill himself
10:16 am
Babbler
do you know, I've never seen 'Mommy Dearest'! I must borrow it and have a look one day.
10:16 am
Jen
It's like former Playboy playmates... Grandma? What did you do when you were younger? Well, dear, I posed nude in unatural positions for the men of the world to ogle!
10:17 am
ToeSockMonkey
*comforts M_Fan with a big hug* Oh honey it's alright! You can do so so much just by telling others. It's amazing what a few words can do to help!
10:17 am
Babbler
lol Jen!!! (I know I shouldn't laugh..... but that's funny!)
10:17 am
MissyMe
Jen...lol I've actually thought about how they would word that to their grandchildren!
10:18 am
Miyavi_fan
I agree, Missy...he has such a sad story, though. As a baby, he was actually abandoned...at school he was bullied because of it. I think that's why, years later, there's still a museum established by the government of Japan as a tribute to him...it's like he always battled against the odds
10:18 am
harpjane
So, what would the Waltons think about Aneglina and Madonna?
10:19 am
lola100
Yeah, but that doesn't have any bearing on whether you are a good mom or not. I think we all did some wild things when we were younger that we would rather our kids never heard about : )
10:19 am
Miyavi_fan
Awww, thanks Toes :) *biiiig hugs* If my tears start soaking through your clothes, just give me a poke and I'll stop :)
10:19 am
Haz1558
They would have better things to think about!
10:20 am
Babbler
Miya, what's this guy's name?
10:20 am
MissyMe
Faye Dunaway practically ruined her career playing Crawford in that movie. Other actors became incensed with her portrayal of the Hollywood icon and she had trouble finding work
10:20 am
Babbler
Missy..... aaaah, so that's what happened to Faye! I always wondered why she wasn't around so much.
10:21 am
MissyMe
harp good question. They would probably invite them both in for some apple pie and a hug
10:21 am
Miyavi_fan
Babs, it's Hideto Matsumoto...he was always called Hide though. The band's name was X Japan, though he also had a successful solo career.
10:22 am
MissyMe
Babbler...their reaction to Ms Dunaway puzzles me because the movie was based on a book written by Crawford's daughter. The actress was only playing a part...very strange
10:24 am
Babbler
Miya, in Wikipedia, it says they closed Hide's museum last Sept.....
10:24 am
Babbler
Missy, I remember the controversy around the film. The papers were full of rows and disputes from various parties.
10:25 am
MissyMe
I think the real problem was the believeability of Christina Dunaway's account of her mother...most took her story of abuse with a grain of salt
10:25 am
Miyavi_fan
yup, it went down in September. I know loads of fans signed a petition to stop it, but they closed it even so. Very sad
10:30 am
Miyavi_fan
*points to icon* refresh, and that's Hide *sniffles*
10:30 am
MissyMe
Miya...it sure seems like he's had a tough life. I feel sorry for him having to go through the abandonment and now facing this injury.
10:32 am
ToeSockMonkey
Sorry getting busy with patients here
I will be back in a bit :)
10:33 am
Miyavi_fan
*nods* he was a DUDE though. He was expelled from school for rebellious behaviour when he got sick of the other kids for picking on him and lost his temper just a teeeny bit. But he had the last laugh, I guess :)
10:33 am
MissyMe
k Toe cya soon :)
ACK Miya...I mean the other guy....not Hide...poor Hide is dead...I got it straight now
10:35 am
Babbler
Miya - just reading the rest of the wikipedia site - I have heard of people using a towel to pull their heads to relieve pain in neck/shoulders. One of my friends used to do it,but she put the towel under the base of her head and got someone to pull, so there was no danger of asphyxiation. Weird Hide should try to do this will so drunk......
10:35 am
Miyavi_fan
lol! Confusing, I know :) But at least the drummer is still alive. And famous enough to have met the pres of America. *smug*
wow...now I'm actually being smug on someone elses behalf :D
10:35 am
MissyMe
Some people purposely choke themselves by hanging to enhance sexual pleasure...a few deaths have occurred from this practice
10:36 am
Babbler
MIssy, I was thinking of Michael Hutchence too.
10:36 am
Miyavi_fan
Well, he was a weird person Babs :) Worse still, after his death report came out, several fans were hospitalized for attempting suicide
10:37 am
Miyavi_fan
o_O they what?!
10:37 am
Babbler
in wikipedia, it says two fans actually succeeded in committing suicide, the others survived, thank goodness.
10:37 am
lola100
Can someone please help me out with the fa5/18 and fa6/30?? : )
10:38 am
Haz1558
fa 5/18 - a type of drama in which all kinds of silliness happens
10:38 am
Anj
*glides into log* Of course babe : )
fa5/6 - both do do with unintentional comedy, especially in a situation where it's out of place
10:38 am
Miyavi_fan
*nods* brainy Babs! :) The saddest thing for me was watching the rest of the band play one of their old ballads, Forever Love, at Hide's funeral.
10:39 am
MissyMe
Miya, by choking during organsm it's supposed to increase the intensity
Yes, Michael Hutchence is a good example, Babbs
10:39 am
Jen
lola, it's a false show, or a type of light play... then add a consonant
10:39 am
Haz1558
The fa 6 is one who perpetrates the fa 5
10:39 am
lola100
Aaargh! Thanks babe! (((x))) : )
10:39 am
Babbler
((Anj!!)) how you doing, Our Kid? xx :D
10:40 am
Miyavi_fan
Hey Anj! What a good time you chose to come in lol :)
Missy...O.O
10:40 am
lola100
Thanks haz and jen too : )
10:41 am
Anj
Hi All : ) Not bad thanks. I'm being grazed upon in the foothills, there's a rave in one of my valleys, it's raining at one end and sunny at the other, but everything's aok : )
10:41 am
MissyMe
Miya...I know 0-o...there's some real nimrods out there doing weird things to themselves!
10:42 am
MissyMe
Hello Anj :)
10:42 am
Miyavi_fan
lol! I could have lived a full and happy life without knowing that, I think :D
10:42 am
Babbler
FMitch, are you here? Thanks for your mail. I have amended the list accordingly.
All - mrpresident requested the theme for 26th be Australia Day. I've moved Marbles to a later date. :D
10:43 am
MissyMe
The only reason I know about it is because I've read the police reports of the people found dead that way...very sad...pathetic, even...
10:44 am
Miyavi_fan
Ja...strange, sad and, um, quite twisted
10:44 am
Anj
Missy, for a while that was our MPs' favourite way of getting out of office...
10:46 am
MissyMe
Bab Jacula gave us a nice list for January's themes...I've just changed the 26th to show Australia Day
Anj!!! For real?
10:46 am
lola100
Er...to6/18? Please?? : )
10:46 am
Stef

10:48 am
lola100
Hi stef : )
10:49 am
Octarine
what's todays theme?
10:49 am
Anj
Missy, over a period of years we had a few scandals. One guy was found with a plastic bag over his head, an orange in his mouth, and a cord about his tackle : /
It's never intentional, just sad really...
10:49 am
Haz1558
to6 - type of matador
10:49 am
MissyMe
lola to6/18
the third to4/4 + what you do to push a boat along like the song, ***, ***, *** your boat, gently down the stream...just drop the last consonant
10:50 am
Miyavi_fan
tackle?
10:51 am
lola100
Thanks haz and missy : )
10:51 am
MissyMe
Anj, so sad to think that a small thrill is worth someone's life. :(
10:51 am
Jera
Greetings and salivatin's, all! I have 5 left & I need serious help with them all... here's my shopping list!!

10:52 am
Haz1558
Second cr 5/18 is a Scottish farmhouse
10:52 am
Anj

10:52 am
Miyavi_fan
*thinks*
*falls off chair*

10:53 am
Haz1558

10:53 am
Anj

10:53 am
Babbler
Anj, was that the same guy who was also wearing ladies lingerie?
10:54 am
Haz1558
ty4/6 - switch round two letters in the car one
10:54 am
Jera
tyvm, Haz... 3 left!!
10:54 am
MissyMe
ey 4/ 6's
ey + ending sounds like the word "jazz" but with a vowel and a consanant that ssssounds like a "z" at times
second ey sounds like when you get your anger up, your ire...spelled differently
10:54 am
Haz1558
ey - add vowel and pluralise
10:55 am
Anj
Babbler, might have been. My memory is struggling, although I do remember some rather tasteless jokes that came out about it at the time...
10:55 am
Jera
Ugh... I need the fish for some of these... I'll have to turn in my kilt for not seeing the cr5...
10:55 am
Babbler
I found it all distasteful, Anj. I saw the main headlines and stuff, but I didn't delve too deeply. All too disturbing!
10:56 am
Jera
I have the ey4 where you add the first vowel & pluralise... is there another, Haz?
10:56 am
Haz1558
Jera, which to 4 do you need?
10:56 am
Haz1558
There's ey as in Jane Ey**
10:57 am
Anj
de8/45 anyone??
10:57 am
MissyMe
sounds like "ire"
10:57 am
Jera
Got it, finally... was chasing my tail in that corner...
10:57 am
Haz1558
One who de5/12s
10:58 am
lola100
babe, someone who de5/12's...but double the last consonant first : )
10:58 am
Jera
Whoo-hoo... now I just need the to4... I've had the worst trouble with 4 letter words in this puzzle!!
10:58 am
Anj
Ta Haz, got that after I asked...as usual lol! Weird how I never noodle the obvious stuff... : /
10:58 am
MissyMe
Anj de8/45
Someone who commits the act of de5/12 above...use the double consonant you can see in the grid to start off the prefix
10:58 am
Babbler
Anj, Lola, have you two got your own valley theme going on? ; )
10:59 am
Fingers5
i need some hints!
10:59 am
Anj
Thank you all : ) You're the S.A.L.T. of the earth lol : D
10:59 am

11:02 am
Babbler

11:02 am
Haz1558
oc5 - add first three letters of what you do to a book
oc6 - give it a latin plural ending
11:02 am
Jera

11:03 am
Miyavi_fan

11:03 am
Anj

Then give it a latin plural : )
11:03 am
Babbler

11:03 am
lola100
Haz, you are a saint! Thank you : )

11:04 am

11:05 am
Jera

Jera
Good luck, Babbler... unless you're bidding against me!!
11:06 am
Jen
Jera, do you have the Jewish religious book (w/o the last consonant)
11:06 am
MissyMe
Do you have the to4/4 one that has to do with building up pressure in a tool by twisting it....you build up it's to***...this word ends with a "c" instead of the usual "que"
11:07 am
MissyMe
Bye Babbler...cya and good luck! :)
11:07 am
Jera
THAT'S IT!!!!!
*happy dance of done-ness*
11:07 am

11:08 am
Angelsong
jera were you able to get the quicknote extension for firefox?
11:09 am
Jera
Good clue, Jen... I had been trying to spell that, but could not see where it was in the puzzle... I should learn to just input the silly words I have a feeling are there.... the worst that will happen is an OOPS!
Sheesh. tyvm, Jen & all others who brave the daunting task of helping me...
11:10 am
Jen

11:14 am
Jera
brb... gotta check on my auctions... Babbler might have outbid me...
11:14 am
Jen
Fingers, here's another one... co4/9, the thing stuffed in a wine bottle. Then you can get 2 co6's by adding a suffix for a person who does that, and also past tense.
11:14 am
Anj
or6/24 anyone?? : )
11:15 am
Jen
Anj, add a vowel to the or5 before it; if you don't have that one either, the def. is:A sheath formed at the node of a stem by the fusion of two stipules, as in the rhubarb plant
11:15 am
MissyMe
Fingers here's another clue:
co8/45
what the center of the earth is called, it's co**, (drop the "e" at the end of the word), + "o" + the first ta4/4
11:16 am
Angelsong
I'm losing it fast with this grid. Did okay at first, but now......
11:16 am
Jen
Oops! Anj, sorry 'bout that, I was doing oc, not or! or6 is: A mechanical model of the solar system.
11:17 am
MissyMe
Angel just monkey type "er" prefixes often and you'll get a good many of them
11:17 am
MissyMe
I mean suffixes...not prefixes...duh
11:17 am
bunnyvicious
Afternoon, how is everyone?

7:13 pm
Babbler
hi all! :)
I just had an idea for a theme - The Tarot. Would that be ok, or is it too scary?
7:13 pm
cybernan
That's right -- add the suffix that makes it mean one who prevents (don't forget to double the final consonant!)
7:13 pm
Judi
Oh, duh. The 2nd R threw me. Got it now.
7:18 pm
cybernan
Don't know anything about it, Babbler. I think the themes are beginning to be a bit much -- the icons wind up looking so much alike when the theme too specific making it more difficult to pick out the person you are looking for in the log (including myself!). Maybe we should just save the theme idea for special occasions.
7:25 pm
ExWren
Thank you cybernan, I just get used to an icon and they all change again.

10:10 pm
EasternBlue
Don't think so...course I haven't hit the 'wall' yet!! BJ's list is a lifesaver at this point!!
10:12 pm
GreyWoulf
And I'm still here, c-nan -- so it should be safe
(unless EB needs the 4 c's I haven't found yet) ;)
10:12 pm
cybernan
I'll stick around for a bit -- playing another game on the side.
10:14 pm
EasternBlue
Woulfie - I'm almost finished with the c's...
thanks c-nan!! so far so good.... : )
10:16 pm
GreyWoulf
does the co8 build off the 4/9 like the 6's do?
10:17 pm
EasternBlue
woulfie - no....
20 mins. of monkey typing for me!!
10:17 pm
GreyWoulf
Thanks -- at least now I won't waste time on that path :)
10:17 pm
cybernan
no it doesn't...
co 8: co + spin around (as a turntable)
10:18 pm
marigold
co8 - To rotate in conjunction with another body
this is the best i can do. GW
10:18 pm
GreyWoulf
Thanks c-nan :) one to go!
10:18 pm
EasternBlue
but here's a clue for you...
when a king or queen is crowned, they go through the 'Co_______tion.....
if they are that person, they would be the co_________
then drop the "N" and replace with a T
convoluted, but maybe it'll help!!
10:19 pm
EasternBlue
OR....
look at the better clues below...
at this hour - I don't think as well...I was doing the phonetics on it differently!!
10:20 pm
GreyWoulf
Hi marigold! --- how are you tonight?
EB -- LOL :)
10:22 pm
marigold
Hi GW - i am doing very well. How about you?

10:30 pm
GreyWoulf
I don't think I've played that one yet
10:31 pm
GreyWoulf
So --EB -- how are you doing? Looks like you are the only one left to finish --- no pressure ;)

10:37 pm
doxy1lover

10:38 pm
GreyWoulf
Sounds like a great day, doxy :)
10:39 pm
mab
I'm not well. Moreover, it's so cold in my apartment that even though I'm wearing four tops and a fleece jacket (with hood), a scarf, two pairs of leggings and five pairs of socks, I'm still cold and want to be under the covers. Oh woe.
10:39 pm
doxy1lover
a lot better than today. Was real busy at work.
10:40 pm
doxy1lover
so sorry to hear that mab. Drink something hot, that might help a little.
10:41 pm
mab

10:42 pm

If anyone is still out there, may I have clue for RE 8/50?
Hello? hello hello hello.......
11:16 pm
mrpresident
re + re624
11:16 pm
GreyWoulf
re8/50 -- re+ re6/24
11:17 pm
mab
Thanks, pres.
11:17 pm
GreyWoulf
Hi mrp -- how's your side of the world today?
11:19 pm
mrpresident
Hi mab, hi grey!! Pretty wet and wild weather we are having....
how is everything on your side!?
11:20 pm
mab
C C C COLD!!!
11:21 pm
GreyWoulf
WAY too cold for mab -- uncomfortably chilly for me, mrp
11:22 pm
mrpresident
I have to say the chill factor is zero here! ie, doesn't exist!!
At work... toilets are broke and we have an ant farm growing out the back room! Hate it when that happens!!
11:22 pm
GreyWoulf
mab -- when I read our post re: what you are wearing Kirsten suggested that you consider electric socks if it is at all feasible for you -- multiple layers of socks can actually restrict the blood flow which will contribute to feeling cold
11:23 pm
mrpresident
...or.... get the cat to sit on your feet
11:25 pm
EasternBlue
Thought I could stay up for the flip...eyes keep drooping in sleepiness....will catch you all tomorrow(hopefully!)!!
Swee t dreams...stay warm...
Nightie Nite all!!
11:26 pm
mrpresident
yeah, have to go home for the flip... this computer sux!
nite eastern!
11:26 pm
mab
You guys are sweet, GW. That's a good idea. None of my socks are tight, however. They are mostly huge man socks - if I pulled them up tight the heels would almost make it to my knees. My feet look like fluffy shoe boxes.
11:26 pm
GreyWoulf
EB -- been there, sold the rights, got shafted on the royalties :D --- have a good night's sleep and see you tomorrow! (*Hug*)
11:27 pm
mab
Night Eastern! Bye mrpres!
11:27 pm
EasternBlue
mab - sheepskin slippers...definitely warm & cozy!!
11:28 pm
harpjane
last word, or 6? anyone?
11:29 pm
GreyWoulf
mab -- We are glad to hear that you are not being restricted, though we both agree that you would probably find walking around easier in the electric ones :)
11:30 pm
GreyWoulf
or6 - "A mechanical model of the solar system."
11:33 pm
harpjane
Done! Thank you all!
11:33 pm
mab
Wow, that's some word. Glad I googled.
Thank you so much for the excellent suggestion. I'll have to take it under financial advisement however (cat tx, car falling apart, blah, blah).
11:34 pm
GreyWoulf
Yay for harp!!!
mab -- that is why I phrased it as 'if feasible' --- I understand completely about having to be frugal
11:40 pm
GreyWoulf
mab -- need any clues?
11:40 pm
mab
GW: I'm sure with the baby on the way you know about the scrimp factor. Thanks for the clues too. Think I'll just stop there and do something else for a little while.
11:43 pm
GreyWoulf
Sounds fair, mab -- will look for you at the flip -- since it is so quiet I will go take care of my normal night time rituals -- (*Hug*)
11:47 pm

11:53 pm
GreyWoulf
mrp -- I wish I lived that close to my job :)
11:54 pm

That's cool -- what kind of business?
