12:00 am
sprite
morning all!
12:00 am
cybernan
Hello again
12:01 am
mrpresident
Hello all! looks like a C grid!
12:01 am
cybernan
We've had heavy wet snow all day here -- power lines coming down, etc. If I disappear, it's because we've lost power again.
12:04 am
sprite
Poor cybernan... :(
You need a laptop, so a powerdown will not affect your babbling :)
12:04 am
GreyWoulf
Hi sprite! It figures--- you are here bright and early and I have to go rub Kirsten's back -- I'll be back in about 10-15 mins -- (*HUG*)
12:04 am
harpjane
146 words, it says
12:05 am
chic
*sigh* still had 9 to go... oh well, on to the next one...
12:05 am
sprite
*big hug back*
The rubbing is more important than any babbling can ever be, Woulf. Enjoy ;)
12:17 am
cybernan
Don't I wish though, Sprite
12:18 am
sprite
And M7/36.
All very common words :)
I only have a laptop, no real pc.
12:18 am
cybernan
First run through yielded only 56 words -- this is going to be tough!
12:19 am
sprite
Hit 70 just a few moments ago. I agree!
12:19 am
mrpresident
I have to tell you all... this is the best chat place I have ever visited... everyone is great!!
Last night, Jac was in full form... she made me laugh so hard I was crying!!... I love coming here for babble and blah blah...
12:20 am
GreyWoulf
I'm back!
C-nan -- I went and tried Cubis 2 -- it's fun, the time limit on each board is long enough to not feel restrictive
12:20 am
sprite
mrP, you are totally, completely and utterly right :D
12:21 am
GreyWoulf
mrp -- when I googled I came up with bouncy baby -- is that yours?
12:21 am
mrpresident
grey... that is mine!! Like it??
12:21 am
Hugabugs
Good day to everyone!
12:21 am
sprite
Woulf, when you said 'bouncing baby' I thought... ;)
But still counting down, I presume.
12:22 am
sprite
Hugs, hi!
12:22 am
GreyWoulf
mrp -- looks nice -- only took a quick peek though -- will definitely take a closer look when I have more time! :)
12:22 am
sprite
N7/36 - 8/50
12:23 am
mrpresident
oh Sprite! the babble song competition was hysterical!!
12:23 am
sprite
What song was decided upon in the end?
12:23 am
sprite
Another C7/40
12:23 am
GreyWoulf
(*HUGS*) for Hugs :D
(I love saying that! ;) )
That's right, sprite -- all is well and according to plan, so far :)
12:24 am
GreyWoulf
What song competition?
12:25 am
mrpresident
I think that the archives is getting the
'babble babble' (my one!!) sung to 'rebel rebel'
I am too embarassed to repeat it!
12:25 am
sprite
The babble parody song competition.
Good to hear all is going well! Wish Kirsten good luck for the last stretch :)
12:26 am
GreyWoulf
Thanks sprite, I will -- she is soooo looking forward to having energy again, that it makes the anticipation all the worse :)
12:26 am
mrpresident
Jacula wants to hold a babble parody song competition so I think she is doing something on bab anon... look out for it... should be a scream!! :)
12:27 am
sprite
*quoting mrP in the babble competition*
babble babble, your grid is a mess
babble babble, you have no regrets
babble babble, your words are so sad
hot dog babble, that fart word is bad!!
12:28 am
GreyWoulf
Babble filks -- what will we come up with next?!
12:28 am
mrpresident
oh Sprite!! ROFLMAO!!
12:28 am
sprite
Woulf, I know the feeling. My thoughts go with her (and you), with my best wishes.
12:29 am
Hugabugs
Hi Sprite and GW *hugs*
So far I can't see any of those 7's or 8's....
*stares intently at grid*
12:29 am
GreyWoulf
I only have the M7 so far myself :)
12:37 am
sprite
The N-biggies are not nice, a kind of tumor(s).
I have rhyming C7 and R7.
And a C7 that was a popular way to pass your time in the middle ages, with the blessing of the church.
The other C7 is the same, except for the last letter.
12:37 am
CJ162003
ok i'm doing very bad on this grid
12:40 am
GreyWoulf
Thanks sprite -- I had just found the rhyming R and C -- but not the other C's -- still need to noodle the N's :)
12:40 am
sprite
No fish so far, but I found an interesting E4/8- 5/18 : fresh-water tortoise(s).
12:41 am
sprite
Woulf: for the Ns think of getting on one's nerves ;)
12:42 am
Hugabugs
Got the N's with that one Sprite... thx
12:43 am
sprite
CJ: just keep on looking, the words will jump out of the grid to you when you least expect them to ;)
12:44 am
CJ162003
ty sprite- i printed out the grid trying to find words
12:45 am
Hugabugs
Oh... got the M7 now... :o)
12:46 am
sprite
Actually, I am surprised, in every grid, that after getting completely stuck at some point, somehow some hidden corner of the grid opens up and supply me with another load of words. Teaches me to never despair, just to go on trying until I succeed, and not just with babble ;)
12:46 am
cybernan
Did you notice that in almost every other puzzle medical prefixes are accepted as words -- but not in this one!
12:47 am
sprite
cybernan, the ways of the enable dictionary are completely obscure to me :D
12:47 am
GreyWoulf
The grid also helps to remind me that it is OK to ask others for help -- even with the simple stuff :)
12:48 am
CJ162003
printing the grid is helping some
12:49 am
sprite
So true, Woulf! We tend to be so hard on ourselves, only allowing ourselves to ask for help when the problems are running out of hand, if even then. And all is so much better if we reach out earlier. Especially with the simple stuff, that sometimes is too obvious to be noticed.
12:49 am
cybernan
thanks, Sprite -- got the n's
12:49 am
GreyWoulf
Who would've thought that such a simple game could have such deep meaning attributed to it?
12:51 am
sprite
WTG nan!
Woulf, I think every game has that potential, if you give it a chance. Perhaps this babble site helps bring out that potential, because of the openness of the chatters about how they experience the playing. Could be that being not competitive has something to do with that, I think.
12:52 am
CJ162003
i found the r7 and c7 that rhyme
12:54 am
sprite
Great going, CJ! The church-approved C7 has to do with forcing others to accept the christian belief system, at knife's point if need be.
12:55 am
CJ162003
ty sprite- its like the light bulb just lit up
12:55 am
sprite
I always love that feeling :)
12:57 am
CJ162003
now maybe i'll find the n's
12:58 am
mrpresident
three double faults in a row!!! Hewitt deserves to lose!
1:02 am
mrpresident
... and he dug himself out!!
1:03 am
sprite
I just cannot count MY double faults.
I have been 'oopsed' about a million times already. Today.
1:04 am
GreyWoulf
Finallly! I have the N's as well :)
The other thing I have learned from the grid ---- How to decipher a text that has been through at least two spin cycles! ;D
1:04 am
cybernan
Finally -- the c's too!
1:08 am
cybernan
I keep wanting to type in carbs!
1:09 am
CJ162003
i want to keep typing nurse
1:09 am
mrpresident
I keep wanting to eat carbs!!
1:10 am
Blaze
Hail and hello... to all.... my interveiw was great and I got the position.... I start late in February as a Facilitato/Presenter..... a fantastic day...
1:11 am
CJ162003
wtg Blaze
1:11 am
GreyWoulf
Huzzah for you, Blaze!!!!!!!
1:12 am
Blaze
thank you thank you all
1:12 am
cybernan
You had to bring that up Pres -- now you've got me thinking about chocolate! and pie! and sticky toffee pudding!
1:12 am
mrpresident
congrats Blaze!!
1:12 am
cybernan
Great news! -- Congratulations, Blaze.
1:13 am
mrpresident
mmm.... pie, and chips, and rice pudding, and pasta marinara....
1:14 am
CJ162003
now you have me wanting pasta and pizza
1:14 am
mrpresident
... yeah... in the same bowl!!
1:15 am
Hugabugs
Well done Blaze, congrats! :o)
1:15 am
CJ162003
its too bad i'm stuck at work
1:19 am
cybernan
oh yes -- chips -- big salty ones!
1:19 am
Blaze
I am very excited about this new venture.....I will be presenting information on Families raising Child relatives my favorite subject....
1:21 am
Babbler
congratulations, Blaze!
hi all : )
1:21 am
sprite
Blaze, congratulations! Well done and good luck! (((Blaze)))
1:21 am
CJ162003
hi babbler
1:22 am
mrpresident
... chips with heaps of vinegar!
1:22 am
GreyWoulf
(((***Babbler***)))
Haven't seen you in awhile! Missed you! ;)
1:23 am
sprite
Hi Babbler! Enjoy the grid, this is a nice one. Well... perhaps except for the Cs, some of them were pretty obscure to me.
It's 146 words / 4.65 average length / 1673 points today. Good hunting to all of you and thanks again for the great company :)
1:23 am
Babbler
Hi GW!! I've missed you too! I logged on the other day and just missed you by minutes! (((hugs))) how are things?
1:24 am
mrpresident
bab... can we have aussie theme day for 26th Jan please!!
1:24 am
Babbler
congrats, Sprite! and hi! :D
1:24 am
Babbler
mrpresident.... you haven't checked my handbag today, have you? ; )
1:25 am
Babbler
(Fmitch told me) :D
1:25 am
mrpresident
doing it now (anticipation!!)
1:25 am
GreyWoulf
Babbler -- Pretty good, though gettin down to the wire -- Baby is due on Feb 3 :)
Mama tried to start an impromptu Baby Shower icon display earlier, but not enough people were around for it to go too far
1:25 am
mrpresident
oh you good sport! what a champ!! Thanks matey!!
1:26 am
Babbler
I knew it was imminent, GW. We don't have baby showers in the UK. At what point do we do them, and what's involved?
1:26 am
Babbler
my pleasure, mrp ! :D
1:26 am
cybernan
CJ -- did you know that Costco as really thin crust pizzas called Margharitas (green box) that taste good and aren't too bad on the carbs?
1:27 am
sprite
Don't they usually take place AFTER the baby is born?
1:28 am
Hugabugs
GW - Feb 3rd is my oldest daughter's b-day. She was due on the 4th.
1:28 am
mrpresident
sprite... it is like a bridal shower... before the big day!
1:28 am
CJ162003
cybernan... ty for the pizza tip..... thankfully i'm a naturally thin person..in fact i'm trying to gain about 15 lbs
1:29 am
Hugabugs
mrp - Most of our baby showers here in Canada, at least in Manitoba, are held AFTER the baby is born.
1:29 am
Babbler
..... we don't have bridal showers either.... : / what happens then?
1:29 am
GreyWoulf
I think the timing is up to whoever wants to organise the shower -- I have seen them before to help the new parents stock up on needed supplies and accessories -- and I have seen them after to fill in the missing supplies -- also after you know the sex of the baby so you can get the right clothes ;)
1:30 am
Babbler
ahaaa, so showers are presents?
1:30 am
mrpresident
the bride gets really plastered... gets a stripper... gets a belly button ring.... and wakes up in the morning with one eyebrow shaved off!!
1:31 am
CJ162003
babbler... a shower of any type is like a party where you give gifts and play silly game, time to celebrate
1:31 am
Babbler
lol mrp!! we call them Hen Nights over here! :D:D:D
1:31 am
sprite
CJ: you can have mine :)
I have some lbs to spare :D
1:31 am
Hugabugs
We call those Stagettes here
1:32 am
GreyWoulf
Babbler -- a baby or bridal shower is an excuse to get together and throw a party with the theme being to celebrate the imminent event (birth or wedding) -- the idea is that the guest of honor will be 'shower'ed with gifts to wish luck and demonstrate love :)
1:32 am
Babbler
CJ, I picked up a few extra lbs over Christmas. Happy to share!! :D
1:32 am
CJ162003
lol sprite i will take them if i could
1:32 am
mrpresident
we have a combined hens night/ bridal shower... lots of fun and presents!!
1:32 am
GreyWoulf
Cj -- why the need to gain weight?
1:33 am
Babbler
well, if we have a baby shower for you on 1st Feb, would that be ok, GW?
1:34 am
sprite
Woulf, did I mention my daughter is born on Feb 3th?
1:34 am
CJ162003
i'm 5'7 and about 105 lbs.... but i've been like this for 7 years.. i just think i would look better and feel healthier maybe
1:34 am
GreyWoulf
Sounds good to me, Babbler!
We already know that it's a boy so let's have some fun!!!!
1:35 am
Hugabugs
Sprite - so is mine! :o)
1:35 am
Blaze
hugs you have mail
1:35 am
Babbler
If you're naturally slender, CJ, I wouldn't worry. : )
1:35 am
Blaze
Mine is Feb 23rd
1:36 am
GreyWoulf
sprite -- I think you may have, but I had forgotten -- so Sebastian will have some great company for his birthday celebration, with both daughters :)
1:36 am
mrpresident
my daughter is feb 24th
1:36 am
sprite
This is getting weird :D
If your son behaves, we will have 3 babble kids with the same birthday. What would be the odds in such a relatively small community??
1:37 am
GreyWoulf
* sprites and Hugs for those who got lost ;D
1:37 am
Babbler
GW - done. : )
1:38 am
Babbler
Sebastian?? What a fantastic name! Great choice! :D
1:38 am
cybernan
Ooh, CJ -- I have 15 pounds to spare!
1:38 am
Blaze
I have multiples of 15 pounds to spare....
1:38 am
CJ162003
cybernan send them my way
1:39 am
GreyWoulf
CJ -- have you actually consulted with a doctor before trying to add the weight? Babbler is right, natural tendency does play a big part :)
1:40 am
Blaze
cj if you have been at the same weight for 7 years then that must be your natural body weight... do you feel good are you active ???
1:41 am
cybernan
For 6 letter words, I have the following:
ce, cu, de, duX2, or, ra, ru, sc, un
Can any of you tell me what I'm missing?
1:41 am
CJ162003
my doctors encourage me gain weight i have never been heavier than 110 lbs, my father is a naturally thin person so i don't think that i will get to be 120 lbs unless i have a baby
1:43 am
GreyWoulf
My last word on the topic, CJ, before I look like I am preaching --- What ever you do, please be sure to be healthy about your food choices, ok? :)
We all care about you (*hug*)
1:43 am
Babbler
Doctors don't always get it right, CJ.
1:43 am
CJ162003
Blaze i love going to the gym and love running but i don't get to do it much anymore... i'm very busy with work and college... i want to play softball this year.. maybe it will happen
1:43 am
Babbler
me too, last word. : ) ((hugs))
1:44 am
mrpresident
CJ - I am 6 foot and 130 pounds... can't gain anything either!
But I have to try and try to stay healthy!
1:44 am
sprite
You are missing ca, another ce, co, do, ma.
1:45 am
CJ162003
GW before i graduated H/S i was going to join the military.. they would not take me because i couldn't gain the weight...
1:45 am
Babbler
CJ, mrpresident, what happens if you stop trying to gain weight?
1:45 am
cybernan
Not to worry CJ -- at your age I was 15 pounds underweight too -- then I hit 35 and it's been the battle of the bulge ever since!
1:46 am
mrpresident
at my age, and with two small children to chase, I get sick and lie down!!
1:46 am
cybernan
CJ -- when I graduated, I was 5'8 and weighed 107 pounds.
1:47 am
GreyWoulf
Then by all means, Good luck in your endeavour, CJ -- Hopefully you will be able to achieve both goals -- my former housemate was denied the ablility to serve though she wanted to and is very bitter these days as a result -- I will send positive mojo your way to help if you like :)
1:47 am
cybernan
Thanks, Sprite
1:48 am
Babbler
hmmm.... *makes mrp a peanut butter and jam sandwich*
; )
1:48 am
mrpresident
bab... in the same sandwich??
1:48 am
Babbler
*makes one for CJ too* : )
1:48 am
Blaze
I say thin or not.... just enjoy life and Live it to the fullest.....
1:49 am
CJ162003
babbler i have to eat at least 2 meals and 4 snacks a day... i have hypoglycemia .... so eating is a have to
1:49 am
Babbler

1:50 am
Babbler
CJ, that sounds about right. Anything less and you'd faint.
1:50 am
mrpresident
... I've been deprived!!! I am going to try one!!
1:50 am
CJ162003
bab.... blackcurrant jam???
1:51 am
Babbler
oh CJ! yes, blackcurrant. It's divine!! My favourite jam. (but I only have strawberry jam if I'm having a cream tea).
1:51 am
Babbler
lol mrp!! wave bye bye to 105lbs! lol! : )

1:52 am

2:53 am
Babbler

7:40 am
mrpresident
Jac... take the credit card and beat it into submission! Retail therapy is a blessing!
7:40 am
Jacula
MrPres - is it the one you put in BabAnon. You just beat me to it, if so. Someone e-mailed me that poem the other day.
7:40 am
Jera
I'm home with Gwyd today... he was up most of last night with coughing & fever... poor baby, it's really not fair...
7:40 am
mrpresident
jac, that's the one! I laughed so much...!
7:41 am
Jacula
Oh, by the way. Had a reply back from Dr_God about the parody song for Babble. He says he's no preference for what song we do, free choice. I'll put a thread in BabAnon for people to put their ideas and attempt in.
7:41 am
mrpresident
jac.... excellent!
7:42 am
Jacula
Jera - Hope Gwyd's better soon.x

7:53 am
mrpresident

7:54 am
Jen
NOt me, not yet at least. My knitting is a lot like my quilting... straight lines only! :)
7:54 am
Jacula
Mr.Pres - I should have a pattern for mittens somewhere. I'll post it to you via ez-boards message box if I find one.
7:55 am
mrpresident
Jen, I would pay sooooo much for a quilt!! Please quote me and I will give you my email! (everyone here is witness to this)
7:55 am
Jacula
Think I'm going to leave it at 86 words found for now. I'll be coming home in the dark if I don't go out soon. TTFN all.x
7:55 am
Jera
Oooh I love peacock/iridescent... the one Sprite has is more of a raspberry but sooooooooo soft!
7:56 am
ja314

7:56 am
mrpresident
thank you jac!! You are the best mum in the world!!
7:56 am
Jera
{{{Jen!}}} How are you today?
7:56 am
Jen

9:00 am
Atalante
I bet - its much nicer having a cool cover rather than a vastly expensive apple one! and TY - I will do!
9:02 am
Jen
Mia, do you knit those like you would knit a cap? I actually did manage to knit a cap for my son.
9:03 am
miametro
i knit hats on straight needles and then seam them, so yeah, same process for the cover :) they're really, really easy. just a rectangle, folded in half and seamed.
9:04 am
Jen
Okay, cool! That's how my Grandma taught me to knit the cap... on straight needles. I'm not ready for the knitting in the round!
9:06 am

mia - ad5 = ad + not your aunt but your ***

9:45 am
FMitch

9:51 am

Atalante: Can I please have a clue for the ca6/21
Thank you!!
9:55 am
Jen
Morning harpjane!
9:55 am
Bugzy
Hi Harpjane :)
Is the theme fairy tales today, I'm guessing?
9:56 am
Atalante
CA6/21 - it rhymes with the thing you store beer in!
9:56 am
lshult
ca6= A partially partitioned nook in or near the stacks in a library, used for private study.
9:56 am
harpjane
Fairy tales. Mine's the harp from Jack and the Beanstalk.
9:57 am
lshult
I'm stuck on ce6/24 (2nd one) & ar5/14?
9:57 am
Jen
Yup, fairy tales today. While I know The Princess Bride isn't a classic tale, I think it's a wonderful story! :)
10:00 am
Bugzy
Oh (%*$! I'm a librarian. I should have seen ca6/21!!
Jen- I love the Princess Bride. "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die" :)
Off to find a fairy tale - back in a few :)
10:00 am
Atalante
*sigh* I've got rid of Darthy - got a fairy tale pic too now :)
10:01 am
lshult
not a fan of Princes bride, but I did meet Mandy Ptempkin last year!!
10:01 am
Atalante
ca6/21 was the first word I saw - habits from PhD days are obviously too engrained!
10:03 am
Jen
It's one of my favorite movies and the book is even better! Especially when one pictures Cary Elwes! ;)
10:04 am
EvaNadine

10:05 am
EvaNadine

:X
10:11 am
Atalante
had a better icon idea. david bowie in tight trousers. very fairy tale-y :)
10:13 am
mab
Evanadine I love your icon! Too bad her feet are cropped out. Sleeping Beauty, I assume. I picked out some ballet sleeping beauties too.
Ishult, you met Mandy Ptempkin? He's so gorgeous. Sometimes I like him a lot, and sometimes I think 'schmaltz.' It depends on what he's doing I guess.
10:14 am
gramma
Oh my goodness! I am waaaaay beyond stuck. I walked away for awhile hoping my babble eyes would return; but, to no avail. This could be a long day:{
10:15 am
EvaNadine
her feet actually are in there, its just very hard to see with the icon being so small...
and its clara, from the nutcracker -- my favorite fairy tale of all time!
10:15 am
lshult
Evanadine - he was staying on my Kibbutz for a couple of dayd, taking part in a bike ride. The longest conversation I had with him was when I pointed out the way to the bathroom!!
10:16 am
lshult
the ne's anyone?
10:17 am
mab
Oh, of course, evana. I thought at first she was holding a mirror.
10:18 am
smaller
morning all! or afternoon or evening! pick your favorite

10:56 am
FMitch
Gin and tonic is a summer smell to me as that is the only time I drink it. Funny how smells/taste and music can be so evocative.

Way to many words left. Don't really feel like begging for so many clues. May be back later.
3:34 pm
MissyMe
peri...you're not alone. So many have said the same thing. It's difficult because of the extremely odd spellings
3:34 pm
hurshy
no, the themes are picked by whoever. babbler is in charge of them, because she's the president of the babbleonia social club. but if you have a request you just tell it to her and she'll put it on the schedule.
3:34 pm
periwinkle
MissyMe, I feel so much better now, thanks

Thanx Hurshy, now i know :D

3:36 pm

no RADS ?
its a word
http://dictionary.referen ce.com/search?q=rads
3:37 pm
MissyMe
obscurity...that happens on occasion, a real word gets left out of the solution for the puzzle. Very frustrating
3:38 pm
LUCKY
Missy I told you you were GREAT thanks for the theme list and making me feel better too just like peri I feel bad to ask so many times ... thanks again
Q: are we supposed to change icons to the theme of the day??
3:39 pm
MissyMe
It's not mandatory, Lucky, just a fun thing for everyone to enjoy the choices we make
3:40 pm
JeeWhiz
Obscurity, it let me use the word "rads."
3:42 pm
MissyMe
JW...just saw it on my list! Good thing you saw that. Obscurity...you either put it in and didn't see its on your list, or the list hasn't updated properly, (refresh the page to make it show up), or you may have mispelled it while typing it in
3:42 pm
LUCKY
Oke Missy I thought so already but now I know...
about the icons .....lets cross that "bridge" when we get there
3:44 pm
LUCKY
Missy and JW just for the record my RADS is validated too!

ok then, what about MEDS
3:48 pm
MissyMe
Hello Eva :)
Well, that painting is gorgeous, Lucky!
3:49 pm
EvaNadine
meds is a slang abbreviation for medicines...while the babble rules are shaky, they generally dont accept abbreviations or slang
3:49 pm
MissyMe
Meds is an abbreviation, I think that's the reason why it's not an acceptable word
3:49 pm

4:05 pm
MissyMe
thank you Babbler :)
4:06 pm
Babbler
what does everyone think of Full Evening Dress, for a theme?
4:06 pm
MissyMe
That's a good idea
4:07 pm
MissyMe
Maybe like the Black & White Balls that organizations host. :)
4:08 pm
hurshy
have we done hats yet?
4:08 pm
Babbler
hi hurshy : ) No! I don't think we have!! What does everyone think of Hats as a theme?
4:09 pm
hurshy
:) hi babbler :)
4:09 pm
hurshy
i like the evening dress one too.
4:09 pm
Babbler
MIssy, I like Black & White Ball as a theme. Is there a suitable date this year we can save it for?
4:10 pm
MissyMe
Be nice to save it for Easter to do "Easter Bonnet" theme :)
4:10 pm
Babbler
I mean a special occasion?
4:11 pm
MissyMe
that easter bonnet theme was for the hats. For the Black and White I think it would be great for spring
4:11 pm
smaller
Hurshy...
is that Q?
4:12 pm
MissyMe
hmmm, special occasion...how about election day?
4:12 pm
hurshy
smaller - if you haven't refreshed lately, then yes. he was my super villain from a few days ago.
4:12 pm
MissyMe
Election day won't work for everyone, though, we international...just remembered that lol
4:13 pm
hurshy
today's is picard as robin hood (courtesy of Q, of course ;)
4:13 pm
Babbler
oooh! when's election day? is that american elections? is it a biggie?
4:13 pm
hurshy
what day was "the thomas crown affair" released - it featured a notable black and white ball...
4:13 pm
hurshy
that's not hugely special but it's something
4:14 pm
MissyMe
it was released in 1968
4:14 pm
EvaNadine
we dont have another presidential election til 2008
4:14 pm
hurshy
i meant the new one with pierce brosnan :)
4:15 pm
MissyMe
How about the ball saved for Dr. God's birthday?
4:15 pm
hurshy
hey we should have a history theme day sometime. be educational and all.
4:15 pm
Babbler
Right, I see in my diary you have President's Day on Feb 20. What shall we do? I think we can ALL participate!! : )
4:15 pm
hurshy
didn't Dr_G's birthday just pass? or did we just honor him for fun?
4:16 pm
Babbler
Missy - fantastic idea!!! when's Dr God's birthday?
4:16 pm
hurshy
lol - pick your favorite president or prime minister on feb 20
4:16 pm
Babbler
we honoured him for fun (unless he had a birthday while I was away??)
4:16 pm
MissyMe
Hurshy I must not have been here when it did. I don't know the date
4:17 pm
snowyowl
Hello All - the back & white ball sounds great! Also the Easter bonnets. How about an Easter bonnet Parade? Easter sunday is 16th April here. Hows about the end of March for the ball? Clocks go forward somewhere near the end of March I think
4:17 pm
hurshy
we gotta find out his bday then
4:17 pm
Babbler
h snowy! :)
4:17 pm
MissyMe
Hello Snowy :)
4:18 pm
snowyowl
Hi Niamh!
4:18 pm
MissyMe
Hello Niamh :)
4:19 pm
Babbler
hi NIamh : )
I've asked Dr G when his birthday is.
4:19 pm
MissyMe
Niamh You are my favorite little elf. Dopey is so cute and sweet. :)
4:19 pm
Niamh
so we're having a ball for Dr. God but we need to know his birthday... am I all caught up on the chat?
4:20 pm
MissyMe
Niamh That's what's missing...finding the date.
4:20 pm
Niamh
oh thank you, I really like me (him) too!
4:20 pm
Babbler
Snowy, I was thinking for Easter, we could keep it general, which gives it a wider scope, eg for easter eggs, etc. Are maypoles associated with easter? (memory's getting hazy now!) Also, do we do Easter on the sunday? What shall we do for Good Friday and EAster Monday?
4:21 pm
ExWren
Somebody mentioned evening dress, so I am dressed ready for tomorrow!
4:21 pm
Niamh
good friday is all about food for me... can we be our favorite desserts?
4:22 pm
Babbler
hi Ex Wren : )
we were throwing ideas around for future themes. Tomorrow's is Bridges! : )
4:22 pm
Babbler
I thought Good Friday was about fish? Am I wrong?
4:23 pm
Babbler
omg!! FISH!!! Why haven't we thought of that before?????
4:23 pm
MissyMe
It really is hard to celebrate religious holidays because we're all so diverse, (and wonderfully so!), in our beliefs
4:23 pm
Niamh
I don't know, I've just always had a "good" friday... that includes lots of "good" food.
4:24 pm
hurshy
good friday could be fish for the christians but just plain haddocks of obviousness for everyone else though :)
4:24 pm
MissyMe
For Catholics Fridays used to be a day when you were restricted to only eating fish but a pope years ago stopped that practice
4:25 pm
snowyowl
We do Easter on the Sunday Babbler - Good Friday is for the day of the crucifixion so not a great cause for celebration! No meat eaten on Good Friday, therefore the fish. Sunday is the resurrection day - therefore the celebration!
4:27 pm
Babbler
ahaa, thanks Snowy, it all makes sense now. So Fish for Good Friday, fish for the christians, and other fish for others.
And on Easter Sunday, ooooh!! I know!! Let's have a parade!! (How will we do that?)
And Easter Monday, errr.... need help now..
4:27 pm
snowyowl
The Easter bonnet parade could be for everyone tho'! A party should be inclusive don't you think -that way we have the fun and bypass the religious. We are such a diverse lot it would be a pity to make anyone feel excluded
4:27 pm
Babbler
hear hear, snowy!! exactomundo!!! :D:D:D
4:28 pm
MissyMe
Have you done any astronomical themes, like planets, stars, icons of galaxies?
4:28 pm
snowyowl
Easter Monday could be favourite leisure activties - perversions excluded tho' lol
4:28 pm
Babbler
I think there's one scheduled, Missy.
4:28 pm
Schroeder
Hi everyone!!
4:29 pm
Babbler
Is Easter Monday about leisure, snowy? And when do we do maypoles and morris dancing??
4:29 pm
MissyMe
Hello Schroeder :)
4:29 pm
snowyowl
Hi Schroeder
4:29 pm
Niamh
hello Schroeder :)
4:29 pm
Babbler
hi Schroeder : )
4:29 pm
snowyowl
May Day is for Maypole dancing Babbler LOL MAY pole!
4:29 pm
hurshy
well, or easter could be sort of a mix - it could be religious for those who want, non-religious (bunnies, etc) for those who don't
4:30 pm
cybernan
Been reading the log -- maypoles are for May Day (May 1) -- think it's rooted way back in some pagan rites of one of the ancient tribes in England.
4:30 pm
MissyMe
Then a theme dedicated to a famous invention...any kind?
4:30 pm
Babbler
yay! I love maypole dancing! :D
4:30 pm
hurshy
and btw, i think the no-meat-but-fish on fridays rule was established to help out the fish industry, originally :)
4:30 pm
cybernan
Invention works for me -- missy -- diverse enough that there should be some variety.
4:30 pm
Babbler
that's what I was thinking too, hurshy, then everyone can play, regardless of religion or background. : )
4:30 pm
snowyowl
Oh Missy - thats a great one!
4:31 pm
hurshy
but we should still get a hat day in there somewhere
4:31 pm
Babbler
Missy, that's obvious - the computer!!! How else would we have met each other???
4:31 pm
MissyMe
cyber I'm already thinking about the littlest inventions in our lives that mean so much to us and are so useful
4:31 pm
cybernan
Agree with Hurshy's comments on Easter
4:31 pm
Babbler
absolutely, hurshy, a Hat day. (I wear a lot of hats, don't you fret!) ; )
4:32 pm
hurshy
just inventions would be more fun than specifically computers - then someone could do the cotton gin :)
4:32 pm
Babbler
good thinking, hurshy! :)
what's a cotton gin?
4:33 pm
cybernan
What about birthday symbols -- stones, flowers or zodiac - representing our birthdays?
4:34 pm
MissyMe
Babbler...yes the computer is primo...but I was thinking about things like saftey pins, paper clips, pens, pencils, airplanes, printing press...and, of course, the greatest invention of all time....DUCT TAPE!
4:34 pm
hurshy
lol, something that processes cotton, i don't think it's in use anymore, but eli whitney invented it and every american kid learns about it in school (it was also mentioned in a friends episode).
4:34 pm
Babbler
how many Mother's Days are we going to have this year? The UK date is different to the US/Aus date. (UK 26 March, US/Aus 14 May)
4:35 pm
Babbler
cyber, we've got star signs coming up, but not symbols. could schedule that in for a future date?
4:35 pm
hurshy
lol, that reminds me of a funny. my friend edward's mom is french, but his dad is american and they live in the states. on american mother's day he does nothing for her because "she's french!" but on french mother's day he does nothing because "she's not in france anymore!"
4:35 pm
Schroeder
Post its rank up there with Duct tape...
4:36 pm
Babbler
if we're doing Duct Tape, then we have to do WD40....
4:36 pm
cybernan
How about things we would like to give Dr. G for his birthday?
4:36 pm
MissyMe
Hurshy lol
If only I could be so clever in my excuses when I want to get out of something unpleasant!
4:36 pm
Babbler
"Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are:
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should,
use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape."
4:37 pm
hurshy
i hope we're still putting all these little inventions together - it would be hard to find a lot of WD40 icons!
4:37 pm
Babbler
ooh oooh!! we'll have to have a Tools Party!! LOL!!
4:38 pm
MissyMe
cybernan I love that idea! Or something fun like what we would give an alien to sum up earth for him in one picture
4:38 pm
hurshy
how about a time capsule day - what we would put in one to show people 100 years from now what we were like?
4:38 pm
snowyowl
My favourite inventions are the hot glue gun, the stapler & blu-tack.
4:38 pm
MissyMe
hurshy yup that's what I wanted to pick and choose what we think is a great invention
4:39 pm
Babbler
that's good cyber, I'll put that in when I find out when Dr God's birthday is.
I'd give an alien a pencil. Interesing, Missy!!
4:39 pm
Babbler
Time Capsule Day!! wow!!
I'd better get a pen and some paper, hadn't I?? busy busy!
4:40 pm
snowyowl
oh & double sided sticky tape! I should have been on Blue Peter
4:40 pm
Babbler
*hands Snowy an empty bottle of Fairy washing up liquid*
*oh, and some sticky back plastic*
4:40 pm
MissyMe
I'd like the Time capsule one too...and to reinforce Hurshy's other idea, the hat day would be fun too...where we have a choice of any hat
4:41 pm
hurshy
pirate day!
dessert day!
4:41 pm
MissyMe
snowy lol
4:41 pm
snowyowl
-------------Tracy Island coming up! LOL
4:41 pm
Babbler
Righto, I'm going to start adding these ideas to the list. If I mess up, please do let me know, and I'll correct it. : )
4:42 pm
Babbler
that's my girl, hurshy!! :D xxx Great ideas!!
4:42 pm
MissyMe
arrrrr matey, a pirate day will do ye fine!
4:42 pm
hurshy
singers we're embarrassed we've liked day!
4:42 pm
Babbler
LOL hurshy!!!
4:43 pm
snowyowl
Gosh ! Just noticed that all my favourite things stick something to something else! creepy Do you think it may be significant! LOL
4:43 pm
hurshy
owls don't stick to anything else :)
4:43 pm
MissyMe
Hurshy lol
4:44 pm
MissyMe
ohmyohmy Hairdos we are embarrassed we had!

hurshy

4:50 pm
MissyMe
Hurshy...that applies to just about every word in this puzzle, at least in my case it did lol
4:50 pm
Babbler
What do people do for Waitangi Day in New Zealand (Feb 6) ?
4:51 pm
MissyMe
Noah's ar* (change the "k" to the other k-sounding consonant), + opposite of "them"
4:51 pm
snowyowl
Babbler thats Anjs futurama day isn't it?
4:51 pm
Babbler
hurshy, Missy's clue from earlier: ar5/14 Noah's ar*, (not a k) + opposite of "them"
4:52 pm
kristin
hi all, any clues for the first ru4/5 and 5/12? And while your at it, the or6/24?
4:53 pm
Babbler
Snowy, as the future dates are some way off, I think it's ok to move things.
4:53 pm
Niamh
how far ahead are we planning babbler? (My birthday is in June)
4:54 pm
MissyMe
That holiday is celebrated on Feb 6th. Ummm...how about displaying political documents of all kinds because that's the day a treaty was signed
4:54 pm
Babbler
my pleasure, hurshy. It's nice to be able to help you for a change! : )
4:54 pm
snowyowl

4:55 pm
Babbler
I'm really enjoying being the list monitor, snowy! It's really good for my memory skills!
4:55 pm
hurshy
well if you like helping me, then i won't be shy about asking for help with the second ce6
4:56 pm
MissyMe
first ru4/5 and 5/12 it's like the expression, "You'll ru* the day you were born!" This is the person who actually does...he's a ru**...the 5/12 is the plural
or6/24 or + third du4/6
4:57 pm
Babbler
lol hurshy! yes, add opp of them to your ce4/5 just above it.
4:57 pm
Babbler
what date is your birthday, Niamh?
4:57 pm
MissyMe
Hurshy
ce6 ce4/5 + opposite of "them"
4:57 pm
mrpresident
hursh... my house is made of the ce5 (as it is wooden) and the ce6 is plural
4:58 pm
Babbler
hi again, mrp! :)
4:58 pm
mrpresident
oh, that ce6!
4:58 pm
Schroeder
Hi Renfield!!
4:58 pm
mrpresident
hi again bab ;)_
5:00 pm
Babbler
what about Hobart Regatta Day (S Tasmania) and
Launceston Cup (N Tasmania) ??
what happens on these days?
5:01 pm
kristin
Missy, got the or, but not getting the ru clue, got another clue?
5:01 pm
mrpresident
bab, there is not alot to do in Tasmania... ;)
5:01 pm
renfield
hi shro - how's your dad?
5:02 pm
MissyMe
Hobart Regatta Day The public holiday is the culmination of three days of races and other water activities held on the Derwent River. Yachts, motor boats and ferries all participate. Vantage points all around the river provide good viewing. I guess boats would be appropriate then
5:02 pm
Babbler
should I put them in as themes, mrp?
5:02 pm
Babbler
hurshy, it kind of rhymes with the lady in the Starship Enterprise....
5:02 pm
Niamh
kristin, the stuff you make with flower and water when you're trying to thicken the gravy... then make it a person then make it plural
5:03 pm
mrpresident
bab, not even I know what they are LOL! one is a yacht/rowing race and the other is a horse race??
I don't think they are 'theme' worthy myself
5:03 pm
hurshy
a perfect clue for me. i have her autograph, you know. :)
5:03 pm
kristin
thanks niamh and missyme!
5:04 pm
MissyMe
kristin
ru4/5 it rhymes with the first su4/5...just different first letters
the ru5/12 is the plural
5:04 pm
Babbler
ok, thanks mrp! I'm just running my Notable Dates in my diary with you all, please just say Yay or Nay, as appropriate. : )
5:04 pm
Schroeder
I got him home on Sunday, he is doing better today both physically and his attitude. He can be such a jewel sometimes.....:)
5:05 pm
Babbler
Impressive, hurshy!!! :D
5:05 pm
hurshy
ok so why isn't cuer a word - one who cues?
5:06 pm
drum77
Any help on the ne's?
5:07 pm
MissyMe
drum77
ne's brain tumor
latin for brain + Italian word for the city of Rome
5:08 pm
peester
Howdy from Kentucky. I'm in need of clue(s) for the one word I've got left: last co 5/14. I've got the plural of measured cord of wood and both english and latin plurals for the unconscious state (co 4/6).
5:08 pm
mrpresident
bab... can we have a 'our gorgeous children' day??
5:08 pm
hurshy
:O peester used a word
5:09 pm
LUCKY
Missyme are you still there? I was gone for a bit to refresh in order to change my icon but I could not get back online so it took awhile. Now I'm back I find my icon still has not changed Glad you like HENK HELMANTEL TOO so much he is my alltime favorite and he is a very nice humble man at that he is a true artist.
Will try refreshing again
5:09 pm
hurshy
but, peester, looks like you need the pl of the musical term
5:10 pm
MissyMe
peester
co 5/14 spelled like the 5/14 following it on the list but drop the consonant and add an "e"
5:11 pm
MissyMe
Still here Lucky...glad you're back :D
5:11 pm
MissyMe
You're welcome Drum :)
5:12 pm
peester
Thanx Hurshy... that was it. Sorry about the other word, meant to say PILE of wood... May I help anyone with some clues?
5:12 pm
renfield
shro - that's good news....dads are like that sometimes..8)
5:14 pm
Babbler
mrp, we had a day along those lines before Christmas. Having said that, why don't we have it again????
what does everyone think?
oh, mrp, there are some Aus/NZ dates I'm unsure of - all the different Labour Days WA, VIC, QLD, NZ, and ACT/SW/SA; and the three Queen's Birthdays. What shall I do?
5:15 pm
MissyMe
I say yay to another day of our children, (or grandchildren) :D
5:16 pm
Niamh
I missed the children day, I'd love another opportunity!
5:16 pm
MissyMe
for those who don't have kids they can put up their pets or a favorite relative or person
5:16 pm
mrpresident
labour days - nay - we just sit around a drink beer!!
Queens birthday - mmm... we should have that on the Queens ACTUAL birthday... I will hunt around for some good holidays that actually have meaning!! :)
5:17 pm
Niamh
or themselfs when they were little, that might be a fun theme in itself....
5:17 pm
MissyMe
I've always thought the Queen a very classy person. I was especially impressed with her work during WWII...very inspiring!
5:17 pm
mrpresident
thanks bab... 'gorgeous children' theme for sure!!
5:17 pm
Babbler
thanks, mrp. That would be brilliant!
good thinking, Missy and Niamh. I think that's what some people did last time.
5:18 pm
MissyMe
Niamh That is a perfect solution! What a great idea!
5:19 pm
Babbler
in for 21 Feb, mrp!! : )
5:20 pm
evanonut

5:21 pm
Babbler

5:21 pm
RobRob

5:22 pm
Babbler
you know Easter Weekend? What happens on the Saturday?
5:22 pm
MissyMe
Eva today's Babble word is:
crudcuncrurnnrrs
It means: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
5:23 pm
evanonut
oh, i like that word missy - are you frazzled
5:23 pm
hurshy
babbler - everything gets very quiet. according to tradition, jesus descended into hell to rescue people.
5:23 pm
snowyowl
We spend all day shopping & cooking ready for Easter Sunday Babbler & setting up Easter Egg hunts!
5:23 pm
MissyMe
RobRob
lol...that name is cracking me up...LuvMyPom *snicker*
5:24 pm
Babbler
what would be an appropriate theme for that day?
5:24 pm
evanonut
hurshy, i didn't know that, and i was raised catholic
* crosses self in recognition of ignorance *
5:24 pm
hurshy
um... maybe black?
5:25 pm
MissyMe
Eva I don't need to see another cu word for a long long time. This puzzle was maddening!
5:25 pm
RobRob
been waiting to tell LuvMyPom something but never see him/her here!
5:25 pm
Babbler
you mean black clothes? black dresses and suits?
5:25 pm
Babbler
mo5/16 operandi..... !!
5:26 pm
hurshy
i don't know, black anything, as long as it's sort of respectful.
5:26 pm
evanonut
hmmm, not starting this puzzle, but the first word i think of when i hear the letters 'cu' isn't a nice one.
5:26 pm
MissyMe
Rob I'm sorry...I haven't been around long enough to see the long term people who play off and on :(
5:26 pm
Niamh
ne 7 & 8 anyone?
5:26 pm
hurshy
lots of latin today.
5:26 pm
Babbler
Rob, I haven't seen Luvmypom for a while now.... but I've been on and off myself lately. : /
5:27 pm
MissyMe
Niamh those words mean a type of brain tumor
start off with the latin for "brain" which is a neu...and so forth and add the Italian spelling of the City Rome, (it has a different vowel at the end)
5:27 pm
evanonut
curiously me too babbler, and what would your excuse be?
5:27 pm
Babbler
hurshy, if we go for black clothes, I can guarantee it will lean towards party frocks. What else do you think we could do that would be appropriate?
5:28 pm
evanonut
sunrises
5:28 pm
RobRob
Thanks Missy : )
5:28 pm
Niamh
thank you missy, I saw that clue earlier... but I wasn't paying attention, sorry. Thank you again!
5:28 pm
Babbler
evan - you mean why I've been on and off? I was at home with my family till the weekend just gone. What about you?
5:29 pm

MissyMe

5:33 pm

Dachef
Evening ladies and germs! Started this thing this morning at the flip - 6 am here - a few minutes before I went to work. Just returned home after a killer day (its now almost midnight), only to find this grids a bit of a b*gger. Wish I hadnt started this morning!
5:53 pm
kristin
nite snowy
5:54 pm
kristin
i agree dachef, not a friendly puzzle today
5:54 pm
Anj

Evening All : )
5:55 pm
kristin
evening anj
5:56 pm
Niamh
well hello Dachef!
5:56 pm
Niamh
and hello anj!
5:56 pm
Niamh
love that book, and the whole series anj.... great choice!
5:58 pm
Anj
Niamh, haven't read any TB for years now. I must be 6 or 7 books out of date. He's written at least two more Shannara trilogies since I last dabbled... : /
5:58 pm
MissyMe
Dachef I'm only a fair Babbler but the experts around here have had trouble with this puzzle, tells me this is a real booger!
5:58 pm
Dachef
stuff this for a game of soldiers. Far too tired. When you keep putting in words with a w in them and wondering why it wont accept them for 5 minutes before realising there is no w in the grid, you know it just aint gonna happen.
5:59 pm
MissyMe
Hello Anj :)
5:59 pm
Niamh
I have one he wrote a few years back, The voyage of the Jerel Shannara, I think... still waiting for me to read it
5:59 pm
LUCKY
Hi all I am trying for ages to change my icon ..
I check the correct ending of the pics and refresh but still without luck does anyone have a clue to this problem?
6:00 pm
Niamh
I had to reread the kingdom of Landover series recently... they were calling me
6:00 pm
Dachef
got down to 40 words to go - cant even be bothered to reconcile my list with the babble anonymous site. Need sleep.
In the words of the immortal one, "smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for....."
6:01 pm
Niamh
lucky, I usually open the pic I want full screen, then copy the entire web addy (ctrl C) then when I get to the profile I erase the http:// that is already there and paste the whole thing in (ctrl V)
6:01 pm
MissyMe
Lucky what file name is your icon you're trying to upload?
6:02 pm
LUCKY
Missy the filenames are jepgs
6:02 pm
Anj
Whoops! Hi Kristin, MissyMe : )
Lol Dachef, been there, done that, didn't admit it at the time tho' ; )
6:05 pm
MissyMe
Lucky...you're right...that should work. But open it in Paint, copy it and then save the copy as a .gif or another file name to see if that works
6:06 pm
MissyMe
then after you upload, refresh while still on the edit page...see if it's there
6:06 pm
LUCKY
thanks Missy I'll do but mabe later because I now want to get on with the grid .... you will see my paintings I promise

6:08 pm
Anj
Well the random word generator has thrown a few curveballs today. I'm struggling to find 46 words in common usage in this grid : /
Maybe it's using the Disable Dictionary... : )
6:08 pm
LUCKY
Those DU'S are a chore! any clues recycling?
6:08 pm
snowyowl
just a thought Lucky - is the pic you are trying to use saved as a jpeg? - I think you have to use a pic that is a jpeg
6:09 pm
Anj
Lucky, 10 of them start with the same 3 letters...
6:09 pm
cybernan
Lucky -- which du's in particular?
6:11 pm
MissyMe
Lucky except for the first two du's...the rest are dur's all the way down...just add different endings
6:12 pm
cybernan
last 4 du's:
du 4/6: rhymes with sound a cat makes when contented
du 5/14: add vowel to above
du 6/24: pluralize the 5/14
du 5/14: pluralize the 4/6
6:14 pm
MissyMe
cu5/20 is like the two words above it but it has a funn"y" ending
6:16 pm
MissyMe
the happy, snappy, doubble consonannts in the puzzle are our friends throughout the grid
6:16 pm
LUCKY
Thanks snowyowl yes they are jpegs

For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.

And teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti."

the saddest line I know comes from a Siegfried Sassoon poem: "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori".
8:44 pm
Babbler
which means "It is a sweet and fitting thing to die for one's country". I think he wrote it around the 1st World War. So sad.

8:49 pm
Babbler

MissyMe

8:51 pm
LUCKY
Eva..
It should long have passed away... says my mind..
or never have happened at all
taking at same time each event
so small into consideration.
Alike a lawyer facing facts..
but still on the ball to make the best of it
Choosing her speech so keen
not to loose a friend plausible between
the audience present
Oh its my mind not or I would have won this case
keeping track and easy pace with acceptation.
As an Emperor infact but rules my soul on end too strict
My heart skipping few beats...
Not able to contradict!
Lucky
8:51 pm
MissyMe
I just bookmarked it and will read it later...thank you :)
8:52 pm
EvaNadine
lucky -- did you write that?
8:52 pm

8:54 pm
Babbler
wow Lucky! It's brilliant!
8:55 pm
MissyMe
Lucky I would say yes to that but for one reason, we can never tell how old some of the Babblers are who come here...it might get Dr. God into trouble with the parents...

Poetry is not a job, it's not something you can do all the time have the poetry be fresh and alive. Poetry is pure expression, alive and beautiful like nature...created as a surprise and...secret like a mother's womb...

Babbler
I like that, Missy! Yes, very secret! :D

9:18 pm
MissyMe
You'll think me outrageous, Lucky but when I write poetry it's for cleansing my heart and mind...ridding myself of daemons...when I'm finished writing, the exorcism is not quite complete...I have to tear up the poem and throw it away...it must be destroyed...after that act I feel better
9:18 pm
LUCKY
Anything else cooking?????
9:18 pm
MissyMe
thank you thank you :)
lol
9:19 pm

9:20 pm
LUCKY
MissyMe .. let me fill you in...
By all means
We DO NOT destroy poetry of any kind shape or form
We better eat our hats. LOL
9:20 pm
Babbler
come to think of it, everything I create is kind of like that. I rarely keep anything I make. Funny that. It's just that whatever it is is hugely invested with how I'm feeling. And I reckon once it's gone, it's gone.
9:21 pm
Babbler
*cross-eyed over thought of ice-cream and homemade hot fudge*
9:21 pm
MissyMe
lol Lucky
But poetry is therapy for me. If I were to leave it lying around it would haunt me. I'm of the same mind as Babbler...it's secret to me
9:22 pm
Babbler
lol Missy!! I write in a notebook..... and anytime I have visitors, I hide it!!! :D
9:23 pm

9:32 pm
Babbler

9:33 pm
Dianne
Hi Babbler - thanks for the good wishes - same to you.
Darn work has been getting in the way of babbling.
Trying to play today's grid but not having too much success :(
9:33 pm
MissyMe
Babbler...are they at least articulate? My guess is they're not and what really chases them off is the intelligence naturally welling up from this place. :) They didn't just meet their match...they met their master!
9:34 pm
Babbler
Dianne, Sprite said it was a nice grid, so I jumped in. I found it tough too! I found most of my words just monkey-typing. Some strange words today! :/
9:34 pm
Babbler
ahaaaa!! well put, Missy!!! I like that! :D
9:34 pm
Babbler
you're right, they're not usually articulate.
9:35 pm
Dianne
The Ur4/6 is vexing me - been worrying with this for ages - monkey typing hasn't helped at all.
9:35 pm
MissyMe
Dianne, this grid was made for monkey typing...once you get the first 3 words you can monkey type a good many more...and reuse middle parts of words to complete other words...
9:35 pm
LUCKY
MissyMe I would never want to be neither a lawyer nor a psych anymore since I was accepted to this artschool
My father was an artist so it must have been in my genes all along but my soul, heart and all the universe are combined in my painting would not want to do anything else for as long as I live and beyond....
9:36 pm
MissyMe

GreyWoulf
Dianne -- so you have the su4/6?
9:51 pm
MissyMe
ad 5/16 ad + abbrev. of the brother of your parent, (what he is to you)
ar 5/14 Noah's ar* (change the k to another vowel) + opposite of the word "them"
9:51 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Gald she is going c-section then. Feb. 5th, right? I'll be thinking about you all.
9:51 pm
MissyMe
I mean change the K to another consonant...sorry

kristinc
thx missy...real simple huh?
9:53 pm
MissyMe
I'm usually on the grid about 3-5 p.m. PST to chat
9:53 pm
Dianne
GW - I have the su4/6. I have the ur4/7 that has tas the last 3 letter of the su4/6 and then plural.
What I don't have is the word that comes after that -
the Ur4/6. This is making me crazy.
9:53 pm
GreyWoulf
Lucky -- the earliest I can usually log on is after 9:30 EST-- I work during the day and the baby's bedtime is 9 :)
9:54 pm
MissyMe
kristinc this puzzle was a doozy! so many odd spellings!
9:54 pm
JoJoFunLvg
GW: **HUGS** I'll be thinking about you guys on Feb. 3rd. Are you going to let us know how things went on the 4th.
9:54 pm
Babbler
I'm in and out all day, every day! :)
9:54 pm
GreyWoulf
Dianne -- the ur4/6 is the su4/6 with the s at the end without changing the order of the other 3
9:55 pm
kristinc
Missy...no kidding. I have 88 left to go and actually am not sure if I'll finish!
9:55 pm
LUCKY
Oke MissyMe and GW we'll meet again and Missy I will try hard to change icons

9:56 pm
MissyMe
(((Lucky))) Thank you for the wonderful chat this evening Sleep well!
9:57 pm
GreyWoulf
JoJo -- most likely you will hear from me that night -- the procedure is sometime in the morning, like 7 AMish -- I will probably get the baby to bed and then come here to destress
9:57 pm
LUCKY
Babbler you too sleep well I am leaving you with 17 words to go
9:57 pm
Dianne
MissyMe, GW and everyone else - I need to quite this game - It is the Ur4/7 that I don't have (I need to learn how to add). Sorry to have had you all helping me with the wrong word.

(*Hug*) -- sleep well, dream deep
9:59 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Woulfie: You will probably be so stressed out that you won't even think about babbling. But, if you aren't, I will probably be here.
9:59 pm
MissyMe
Ur4/7 this sounds like the word herbs...spell it according to the first two letters you have to shart with :)
10:00 pm
GreyWoulf
Dianne -- (*Big Hug*) -- it's quite alright, you aren't the first, and you won't be the last -- the 4/7 is the cu5/18 (plural of the edge of the street) minus the c
10:02 pm
Dianne
MissyMe and GW - thanks for the help. Thank goodness I finally got that. I appreciate all the time you took helping me :)
10:03 pm
GreyWoulf
Dianne -- you have helped me a time or two in the past as I recall --- just my way of balancing the books ;D
10:03 pm
MissyMe
Dianne...just another monkey word. I started off this grid by monkey typing when I saw the letters involved. I didn't bother looking for "real" words until I had moneky typed about 40 words! :)
10:04 pm
Dianne
MissyMe - this grid seems filled with "non-word" words.
10:05 pm
MissyMe
YVW Dianne :) You've helped me too
10:06 pm
MissyMe
Dianne Indeed...its the oddest collection of "what the heck does that word mean" words I've ever come across.
10:07 pm
GreyWoulf
You're telling me!
Help with the cr5/14?
10:07 pm
JoJoFunLvg
Glad I am not the only one having problems with the grid. I thought I may be loosing it!
10:09 pm
MissyMe
I don't want to sound like I'm complaining...I actually had fun finding the secret Martian code. Oh...according to the grid's secret grid, the Martians are anticipating the new season of Stargate SG1...they mentioned they really like comedy...
10:10 pm
GreyWoulf
ROFL, Missy! ;D
10:11 pm
MissyMe
GW cr5/14
first 3 letters of word above this word + cheer **, **, **, sis boom ba!
10:11 pm
Dianne
Gw - Cr5/14 - same first 3 letters as cr4/7 then first 2 letter of the word you yell when cheering for your team.
10:11 pm
GreyWoulf
And here I thought it actually said -- "Eat at Wnoeir's!"
10:11 pm
MissyMe
GW LMAO!!!!
10:12 pm
GreyWoulf
Thank you, Dianne -- must have missed monkeying that one :)

The 1st Cr4/6. I've got the one with the first four letters of the bread edge.
10:16 pm
MissyMe
Cr4/6 there's 3 cr4/5 words
~when you push something into something else, jam it in you cr** it in

10:22 pm
MissyMe
mark lol! It's a great site because you can configure the songs you want to hear...your preferences and not have to wade through every genre of music.
10:22 pm
Angelsong
GW, hardly. she has a son almost 2 years old and she's marrying the baby's father. About time, I'd say.

10:27 pm
Dianne

MissyMe - I took pictures of the confetti :) thanks.
10:28 pm
MissyMe
Dianne lol
10:28 pm
Tim
clues for the or6 and the two ca5/14........:~)
10:28 pm
GreyWoulf
mark -- I had noticed right after you left the other day, that there is a link in the Friends box that says 'Become a Friend' -- so I have a feeling that it is pretty simple ;)
10:29 pm
mikenz
so how many words can I get in an hour?
10:29 pm
MissyMe
Tim
or6 or + the third du4/6
10:29 pm
markbowers7
"The Friends of Babble are all blogs that have professed their love of Babble. If you want to become a Friend, just mention Babble in your blog, and I'll add you to the list." -- Dr_God....i don't know if my site counts as a blog
10:30 pm
GreyWoulf
Hi mike! -- depends on how fast you type and how many clues you want? ;D
10:30 pm
Dianne
Ca5/14 - you play bridge witha deck of these.
10:30 pm
Angelsong
GW, it is easy. you post about babble to your site or log, then e mail dr_god to let him know. that's it.
10:31 pm
MissyMe
two ca5/14
~ playing ca***
~first three letters of above word plus sound people making when meditating...
10:31 pm
GreyWoulf
Then I guess you will have to email Dr God after all, mark :)
10:31 pm
markbowers7
thx, Angel, i will have to modify my site to include that...that would be sweet.... :-)
10:31 pm
Angelsong
I did the Friends thing and let dr_god know, but no link to the left of this page for my blog yet.
10:32 pm
Dianne
2nd Ca5/15 - ca + word that follows CD___
10:32 pm
markbowers7
so Grey, have u checked out my new song at Soundclick yet? 10 minutes for free....
10:32 pm
Dianne
I meant CA5/14
10:33 pm
Tim
thanxs again got em........good clues...had the playing ca... didnt realize it.....:D
10:33 pm
GreyWoulf
Oh boy -- 25 words to go and they are all D's or M's!
10:33 pm
MissyMe
Tim lol I did that a few times with this grid...and yw :)
10:34 pm
GreyWoulf
not yet, mark -- but will do so now --- it's this darn obsessive personality of mine -- I get focussed on one thing and forget how to multitask ;D
10:35 pm
markbowers7
lol, Grey
10:37 pm
Tim
just 16 more to go........slowly finding out what they are ....having a hard time with the do's....have only one do/4 .....Help....Please...
10:39 pm
Dianne
All the Do's have the same first 3 letters.
10:40 pm
MissyMe
all of them start with the same first 3 letters...so the one you have already is a start
use the double consonant for the first two do words
drop one of the double consonants for the next word and make it plural
the next is the first three letters + "sa+
the next is add a "d" to the end of the above word
10:40 pm
GreyWoulf
mark -- I just got it started -- It's wonderful!
10:41 pm
markbowers7
thx, Grey...it didn't make the cut for the CD, because it was a one-shot deal...composed/arranged as i played it...i like the spontaneous stuff now and then
10:43 pm
Tim
SWEET got all of em again......thanx 11 more........
10:43 pm
GreyWoulf
mark -- In my opinion, the spontaneous is what defines the artist more accurately than the planned :)
10:46 pm
markbowers7
Grey, i am so quoting u on that! thx...
most of my songs have grown out of spontaneous wanderings, but that one was TOTALLY spontaneous
10:47 pm
GreyWoulf
Go ahead, mark -- you may quote me with my blessing ;)
10:47 pm
MissyMe
cool Tim :) go go go!
10:47 pm
Tim
having trouble with all of the mo 5s.........why ?
10:47 pm

10:49 pm
GreyWoulf
Hi Niamh! -- (*Hug*) -- I got your email, but haven't had the opp to answer yet, but I will by the weekend :)
10:49 pm
Niamh
very cool, I was wondering if you received it or not
10:50 pm
Tim
hello ::::harp
10:50 pm
Niamh
yes outerspace mark.... I had to have a little chat with my kin
10:50 pm
MissyMe
~ mo + anothe word for donkey...but drop one "s"
~this rhymes with the movie title Tora, Tora, Tora!
~ short little word...same first 3 letters as word above it + pluralize it
10:50 pm
GreyWoulf
harp -- looking at your icon just reminded me that I didn't actually need to find one special for today :D
10:51 pm
Tim
hello:::::Niamh
10:51 pm
markbowers7
<grin>...doesn't surprise me...next time say hi for me... ;)
10:51 pm
harpjane
Very good, GW, are you the big bad one?
10:51 pm
MissyMe
Harp was that harp in The Little Mermaid?
10:52 pm
harpjane
No, Jack in the Beanstalk!
10:52 pm
GreyWoulf
only if you want me to be, harp ;)
10:52 pm
MissyMe
It just looked like an underwater scene is the reason I asked :)
10:53 pm
GreyWoulf
Aaaahhhh!
My cat just decided to leave my lap and now I can stretch my legs for the first time in about a half hour :)
10:54 pm
harpjane
The dial up gods are being very cruel tonight. I don't think I could type in 79 words in an hour, even if I already knew what they were! Oh well, it's only a game.....
10:54 pm
MissyMe
GW you're like me...I will keep myself in an uncomfortable position if my friend/pet is comfortable
10:55 pm
GreyWoulf
Missy -- the worst is when I have Kristianna on one side and the cats on the other!
10:56 pm
MissyMe
GW...you find a little comfort in the fact they feel so drawn to you...good spirit in you obviously!
10:56 pm
Niamh
I have ferrets... they don't cuddle :(
10:57 pm
DarleenMB
what is it with cats and computers? Mine will only stay on my lap when I'm trying to do anything on the computer...
10:57 pm
MissyMe
Niamh My son wanted a ferret but we have laws in California making it illegal to own one. I understand they're curious to the point of distraction...and can be distructive if not kept busy...is that correct?
10:57 pm
Tim
thanx Missy ...but Imstill missying the mo 5/16 and one mo5/14......::::::::)
10:58 pm
MissyMe
Darleen...is it possible they are attracted to the static electricity and other forces a computer bleeds out?
10:58 pm
DarleenMB
nah, I think she knows it annoys me ;-)
10:58 pm
Niamh
they are very curious, but not so destructive... I would say it's like having a kitten ~ forever playful and active
10:58 pm
luvmypom
Mark - Just listened to your "Untitled" piece on Soundclick. I really liked it. Is that the one you were referring to?
10:59 pm
Dianne
Tim - I'm done and I don't have a mo5/16. Check again.
10:59 pm
GreyWoulf
Thanks, Missy -- I do :)
Darleen -- before I moved to PA, my one cat, Meeper, claimed my lap whenever I was in the computer room -- the other two had to content themselves with sitting in the doorway
10:59 pm
markbowers7
no Luv, the "new" song is The Medley...
11:00 pm
MissyMe
mo 5/16 mo*** operandi
mo5/14 (could you mean mo5/12?)
both are spelled the same except for the last letter...one ends in a vowel...the other a consonant, but both vowel and consonant are used to pluralize the word
11:00 pm
luvmypom
Got that one playing right now... verrry nice. :)
11:01 pm
Niamh
clue for the last ce 6/24 please?
11:01 pm
MissyMe
Niamh I find them fascinating creatures but I don't have the energy to keep up with them :)
11:02 pm
kristinc
ce 6:plural of the ce 5 (a type of tree)
11:02 pm
markbowers7
thx Luv...i wanted to put up some free tunes before the next CD
11:02 pm
Dianne
Tim - sorry - I do have the mo5/16 mo + 4th letter in alpha + you & me.
11:02 pm
Niamh
not the plural one... the other one
11:02 pm
GreyWoulf
mark -- this is definitely a great piece for using as background for a guided meditation
11:03 pm
kristinc
Naimh-sorry that was the first ce, let me work on the second!
11:03 pm
MissyMe
ce 6/24
this sounds like the dog star, sirius in a way...
take the word above this word + opposite word for "them"
11:03 pm
DarleenMB
GW, isn't it always the way? We have 2 cats and occasionally they will both consent to "share"me when I'm napping in the recliner...
11:03 pm
harpjane
ca 5/14? I have the one that's the plural. What the other one?
11:03 pm
luvmypom
Mark, I may just have to get your first one! :)
I should have stuck with piano lessons.... :( My claim to fame it playing the theme from "Love Story". lol
11:03 pm
Niamh
Missy, they are very fun and wonderful pets... but they do smell. I have to clean the cage at least twice a week
11:03 pm
markbowers7

11:04 pm
MissyMe

spatialbean
Missy, did I know you were in California?? I'm near Grass Valley.
11:08 pm
DarleenMB
GW ... hubby has a similar problem with ours. I toss and turn so much they leave me alone but, esp in the winter, our two pin him to the bed every nite. Now mind you, he's 6'2" and weighs close to 190 so those cats must be VERY heavy, LOL
11:09 pm
MissyMe
Hello neighbor :)
11:09 pm
spatialbean
Yeah my cat pins me.
11:09 pm
