If by that you mean about a 25-year streak of bad luck, then yes. :) I did take a hot shower. Hunter (apparently unhurt, but thrown against the back of my seat) was taken from the scene by a friend and spent the rest of the day at the daycare and didn't get home until late. So I tihnk we will just see how we are in the morning. You have a great day!

(Perspective: The morning began by my being late to work because you couldn't get across town from the massive pileup caused by a guy with a stolen car - one died there, plus there was gunplay in the chase that follows. It's not so much sleeping, it's dreaming. I'm prone to nightmares I can't tell from reality, so I tend to average about 3-4 hours nightly...don't know if you'd call that insomnia or psychotic...

Melatonin is what I use to help me sleep (in addition to trazodone)... melatonin can actually be found in the natural herbs/vits section of any grocery store. Works wonders!!!

And as we're already on the subject of bad dreams and nasty things ... my mother-in-law died last weekend and her funeral is on friday. fine. but now Ive just found out my best best best friend / sister has an emergency operation on Friday and she'll be on her own going into hospital / waking up, cos her mother is also in hospital (a different hospital!). Which one should I go to? Funeral or hospital care? *sigh*

Boots Pharmacy also has a product called "Calms" that I have used for myself, as well as a very small dose to help my cat when travelling overseas... not as good as melatonin, but not bad.

I'm sure I've tried 'Calms'. I had a bad experience with an over-the-counter sleeping tablet once. I didn't take it with water, and my tongue swelled up and I couldn't breathe. So I thought, right if this is it, I'm having a cigarette! And that took the swelling away. Scary moment. :(

The people that load the planes are AF airmen, so they aren't as bad as regular civvie baggage loaders. I actually got very used to the MAC flights when I was over there... flew to Siciliy and Italy about every other month for shopping/eating. But you are right about the kids... I think they needed heavy sedation! Not even our stash of on-board liquor helped us cope!

I flew with my three before I had the twins, they were all under 6. People walked by us when the flight landed and commented on how well behaved they were, that they didn't even know I had children with me, and then glanced at the screamers in the front of the plane. Atalante, I've learned which foods to which I'm allergic, and that has made all the difference. I still have emergency partial obstructions, but I know that if I can get to the emergency room, the pain meds will stop the escalation. Then I go home to recuperate.

Oh Atl!!! I pray for her! It's awful! I have been lucky... I have moderate/severe Crohn's but have not had to have (knock wood) surgery. When I have a flare up, I used to take prednisone, but am now prednisone resistant; luckily haven't had a flare-up (knock wood again!) in over a year so the imuran (thank God I don't want more kids!) and the Pentasa (17 of the pills a day!!) must be working.

mab and jen - I feel for you both! Its funny, my friend's actual classic Crohn's isn't *too* bad, but the side-effects she has that involve her immune system are just scary. In the last 2 or 3 years, she's had her bladder removed, had her jaw reconstructed twice, had a hysterectomy and just recently had a double mastectomy, all due to immune system issues related to the Crohn's. Now you can see why I want to be there with her!!!

I was pregnant with Eycsis when I was 16, some of the stuff she told me had me in tears when I went into labor.

I haven't had too many side effects from the Crohn's except retina swelling (which made contacts impossible for about 5 years) and thinning hair. The thing that kills me about GI's is that 3/4s of the time their "necessary" surgeries are not necessary! Nothing cures Crohn's and the only thing you should do the GI surgeries for is if you have stomas, blockages, etc. removing part of a bad gut ain't gonna cure it.

Sorry... I rant a lot about Crohn's! :)

It is a mysterious auto-immune thing - one's body just turns on itself. Thus the other problems. I have arthritis (which I treat with yoga) and a few other relatively minor surprises. No cure. Cut and it just comes back. Damned annoying.

I think Crohns is genetic too. I knew a girl who had it and was being treated for it after it flared up. She had a twin who had no symptoms, but she had to go for check ups and treatment too. If I remember rightly, she had it too.

Jen - I do feel for you - my son is in the RAF & was safe & cold in the Falklands for 4 months last year. He had 2 x 5 yr olds & a 2 yr old who missed him terribly. It was a very long 4 months- we did a lot of time filling!

He's working on some huge project with the Navy (his former employer), but I have no idea what (story of my life, since he used to be intelligence) and he's gone till the end of June... hence my going home to my parents house for a month, periodic bouts of depression (missing of the hubby), and frustration with my son (who has never had to deal with Daddy being away).
