I got proper training too, its great. Once i get everything sorted i hope to do the wellbeing program on Friday which is all about health and fitness. You have to commit to 12months to volunteer at the visitors program which i cant guarentee

No, they are feral. This si the third generation. Tehy are the subject of an intensive study, but because the nest is on public land it is hard to protect. People have been getting away with this for years. I just got involved in protecting the nesty, but I only have so muct time.

They aren't protected by anyone official. It's just an avian biologist and a vet, and now me, alonmg with a few locals. We can't camp out on the public ground and we can't watch ALL the time. This year there are cameras, though, and soon they will microchip any babies in there.

The nest location is a Big Secret, but unfortunately they are pretty close to a public park and even though stunning numbers of people do manage not to notice the 5-foot-long screaming scarlet birds flying just overhead, they really are fairly hard to miss.
