pini, I talked to my faculty adviser yesterday, explained how the preponderance of task-based assignments are getting in the way of tackling the really critical issues of "how students learn" and "how to plan curricula" and she agreed I am doing the right thing to pick a focus and let the other tasks slide. She will support my staying in the program as well as try to get things to a manageable level for all the students.

my friends had a similar situation, the mother supported a daughter, but then she passed away unexpectedly (pancreatic cancer) and the daugh had to figure out "what to do" - she had not worked before and when she tried, en5 up claiming "disability" "unable to cope with work in any situation"..turned her son over to his dad and now lives with her dad...she still doesn't work, but has a very supportive bf with whom they have a daugh and are raising her son as well... my friend's dad says it's his penance for being a terrible father to them earlier in life to now have to help care for two more generations
