I make "killer" baked beans. One little secret is to gently boil the beans with a little baking soda (after soaking all night of course ) it sweetens them and takes away the sharp taste of some beans.

It's good. We have a very very low key Christmas. Some people think we are sad creatures! We do put up a tree, and have a traditional lunch, but we don't give or receive presents and it takes all the pressure off. We make it a little bit special but not so I am up till 2am with preparations - been there, done that. We are just happy to be here in our lovely home with enough food and enough warmth and each other.

the first part of the day was just lovely. fun morning with the kids, lovely family meal at my moms house, and then the kids had to leave to go see their dad, and now I am home alone, which is nice, as it is quiet, but who wants this much quiet on christmas?
