Okay, gotcha. The balls of foil thing (great balls of foil!) must create a reservoir for the drippings. Good idea, it keeps the chicken from getting greasy. The beer butt thing is the best. Moist as can be.

champ -- the recipe i found has a part 2, that once youve carved your bird, you throw the rest of the carcass, the juices + the veggies from the first round all back in there with a cup or 2 of water + let it run for another coupla hours. the rest of the meat falls off the carcass + youve got instand chicken stock! (may want to strain the stock to remove grease)

i planned ahead for 2 weeks worth of meals. we also have some other random meat and frozen pizzas + stuff in the freezer for when we might need it. i shop for one weeks worth of perishables at a time, but otherwise try to buy most everything.
