I think they are all just way sensitive because of the kids we work with. on my side, I think if I can get a kid to stop grumping and do their work, rules can be bent a little.

example: I have one boy who really struggles with the rules of phonics, so we do a lot of imaging words with him, etc. He did NOT want to work at all. I started with the word "boost" and had him switch up letters until it spelled "boobs" and at that point he was laughing his head off, and saying "give me another one!" and totally engaged in the exercise, and it was so fun. and totally against the rules.
