just from what the lawyer says, molly. although it is early yet so who knows? what I would like is for the charges to be dropped against him (and ideally brought against her although I care less about that). But if the DA wants to try the case, and he risks going to jail if he loses (because the arresting officers will almost certainly make statements that support what they did), but offers an option where he could plead guilty to a lesser charge, serve no jail time, and have his record cleared after 2-3 years of supervision - that would be a tough choice.

Unfortunately, it isn't that easy. Our law school is considering a joint degree program with a Canadian law school to allow graduates to practice both in the US and Canada. But it's been complicated trying to work out the accreditation issues. And Canadian law schools are fewer and smaller than their American counterparts, so they aren't enthusiastic about agreeing to American lawyers practicing in Canada

In the US, the police can lie about the evidence and make up stuff.
