thanks, sue -- I believe that is where he is headed. WE cannot afford to pay for college when he is clearly not engaged and willing to put the work in -- he knows this, and doesn't have the funds to pursue an education. I told him we won't even sign off on student loans for a year!

I think my son is finally starting to turn around - he just missed being on probation this spring but (at least according to him) is doing very well this summer. Having gf out of his life should help (a lot). But it is all very hard - he was complaining about being treated like a child, which he is not, but under the current circumstances it is hard for me not to be really overprotective
