hello, all. I got a call yesterday from my mother, who will have her 78th birthday on August 8, one day after my parents' 58th anniversary. A few weeks ago, my mom was having some unexplained internal bleeding, and she had some testing done. She had a colonoscopy, and it was found she has colon cancer. Surgery will be tomorrow morning. Prayers are welcome.

I think a lot of it is because the replacement replaces the joint entirely, the surgery I had tries to reattach and heal the cartilidge, so it actually takes longer to heal, even though it seems like a simpler procedure.

Molly, she was diagnosed with heart failure in March; then (I think) got depressed and stopped eating. She's lost 30 pounds since then (at age 86). Her condo had a fire last month; so she's been here since. I'm force feeding her; but she can't maintain her oxygen levels and sleeps all day. Home Hospice was started today.

I am fine but my DH (I hope that means Dear Heart) got some kind of inflammation in his wrist that was becoming very red, swollen and painful so we needed to see the doc. Then the water pump died and the overflow tank exploded. Only my husband would pack a spare water pump and we cut up yogurt containers to "weld" the plastic tank together with our camp stove and a screwdriver. It was good all around

I have heard that hip replacements are easier to recover from than knee replacements; I certainly hope so!! I have heard that you really need to do what the physical therapists tell you (true for knees too) - you need to get the range of motion but not stressi t too much
