i am going to watch my darling on her first modelling assignment.

hi again. Just came back in and had to read back in chog to see what you guys were talking about. My Mom died when I was 8 (she was 32); DH's Mom died 38 years ago when she was 52. That's one of the reasons his Aunty is so special to us: she's the closest thing our kids have to a Grandma

I don't care how old you are; the loss of a mother is bad at any age. It always leaves a hole in your heart . A nurse friend of mine's mother died at 104 years old and my friend was in her mid-80's. She totally agreed with me; saying that losing her dad wasn't near as bad as when her mother died

The truth is, as much as my grandma fought it, it allowed her extra time. Because I'm sure she would not have been able to live safely on her on any longer. And, from the outside looking in, worrying about her safety constantly was having a negative impact on mom's life..Grandma, had she been healthy, NEVER would have wanted to be a burdern or interfere with mom having a full life

OK, this has been a REALLY sucky week (and it's only Tuesday!) One of my colleagues, a retired philosophy professor, died over the weekend (he's all of 4 years older than I am); another colleague's son is dying of cancer and will be coming home for the last time at the end of the week (he's about the same age as my son); another colleague's father just died (after a long illness); and the daughter of one of the secretaries just died very suddenly. None of these affect me directly, but they do add up.

a unknown public school teacher taught me to read. i cannot really see her face in my mind,but just her hands,her body shape and hear her voice.the essence of her.i remember the patience,sounding out the words,going back over a line of text again and again,all with the same patience.then one day it just clicked,almost like i have trying to use an out of focus camera and she leaned over and gave the zoom lens the perfect adjustment.hehe was no stopping me then.i had my nose in a book non stop from the time i was 7 till..well till now as i still have my nose in books.i rember the first time i went to the centre of the earth on the end of jules vernes pen,the time i did not even sleep for 2 days as i was flung into outer space with issac azimov to keep me company.sailing on a raft in the deep south with mr clemmons. i do not know this teacher but she gave me the world:) yaa for sue and all our other teachers in babble;)

my son is already asking me when i am going to get rid of my 3 cases of "dead tree" books as he says i can get them all for my reader and those ugly things are all taped together,some have elastic keeping the chapters in place,many are missing covers,are underlined in ink,pencil,highlighter,bookend bound in electrical tape.he does not know that they have been my friends in hard times,gifts from people long gone,there is one in there and he does not know it.it has an inscription to me from him when he was still in utero and 2 months away " to my daddy from baby".they may be dead tree books but many are close friends as well
