ty molly. go to caringbridge.org/visit/zakkai to see updates. he is doing ok for now. we are still waiting for the definitive diagnosis as now it seems the tumor may be benign. but still must do major risky surgery to remove it and his vertabrae have been "eroded" and this is the terrible part now. to put in rods etc in to the spine of a 16 month old means additional surgeries as he grows. not a happy time for sure. we are all stressed and praying and praying. please keep praying for our zakkai! we hope he will survive the surgery and survive this terrible mess. the tumor is so large in his tiny chest.....it is larger than a plum we are told and has tenticles going all over his chest. it is very intertwined in vertebrae and nevers and muscles of the back. we are all heartbroken for him.

we are pretty sure it is benign and this alone is a huge miracle after the first pathologist called it not only cancer but the worst or the worst or the worst...........with no cure or hope. then boston childrens said not cancer. now being read by pathologists at NIH, CHOP in philly, hopkins and sloan kettering. we are holding up. my daughter has 3 other kids and is pregnant with number 5. her dream was to have a large family like she grew up in. so we are praying a lot.
