people think I am weird that I removed the padding on the upper part of the crutches and adjusted the height so the hand rest is high and the upper part doesn't reach my armpits... but I never had my hands go numb, and wasn't tempted to lean on the crutches. Other people couldn't believe how fast I moved!

oh, walkers! *sigh* they gave one to my older grandmother when she started having dizzy spells, but didn't monitor how she used it and she would push it way way out in front of her... so I would bring it closer to her and tell her to stand up. the 4 point canes can be a PIA at times, stid. the one side sticks out farther than the other and DH uses a cane on either side. So he can trip on that broad base too. If the cane-walker uses the cane on 1 side only, then it works ok
