we're reeling here in calgary because a little boy fell at school in a washroom and his hall pass lanyard got stuck in a door - he was found unconscious (who knows how long he was without oxygen) and is now on life support. and then this. parents send their children to school - 'have a good day, sweetheart' - and then things like this happen. heartbreaking.

yes, he should start chemo next week (we missed the call from the cancer center today as we were at the vet's with the dog, will call first thing Monday)

I live about 45 mins. from Sandy Hook or Newtown and parents here were taking their kids out of school. I, like you Doren, don't cry easily, but went they announced that 20 little ones had died that did it for me. They also said that the mother wasn't a teacher, but an aide. And that the killer was "moody" - maybe he disliked the fact that his Mom was taking care of other kids. Who knows. I just hope when he died he felt the pain of the 100 bullets he blasted into each and every person.

They praised the teachers for what they did to keep the kids safe. I went through the 50's where we all crawled under desks in case of war. They have here metal detectors at the schools for guns and knives, some of the worse schools have armed police at the school, and a lot of the schools here lock the doors at 9:00. That's why they can't figure out how the guy got in.
