Actually, we have such lovely insurance people who called (serendipitously) a neighbor-friend to be the contractor for securing the house and demo. Our friend came out personally that first day, something he rarely does, and stayed with us until we had seen the house was secure then shooed us off to the hotel and insisted we rest.

I will have a couple of guest rooms, but we are so close to being "empty nesters" that actually planning for kids who live there full-time isn't necessary. That opens up a lot of possibilities.

yes, that is my home, Nef -- the land more than the building! My plants are there, and the memories (bad as well as good, memories are what create the people we are), and though it's a longer drive for Tom than he would prefer many days it's not onerous.
