still lots of summer to go here yet,liz,but to be honest we prefer spring and fall weather here.september and october are bright sunny days with a hint of a cool breeze blowing off the bay and all the maple trees begin putting on their fall colour shows.sweater or light jacket in the morning,just t-shirt by mid-day nice cool sleeping temperatures and all our apples become ready to harvest and you can smell them in the air

we grew up with wood heat and a wood kitchen stove and a free standing stove in livingroom.all the bedroom and bathroom doors had mesh or slotted transoms above them to move heat to all areas of the house.anyways,as we grew older,we took turns with early morning wood stove duties in winter.it would be your job to get up first,unbank the embers in the kitchen and living room stove,add a log of hard wood and put water into the side boiler to heat up.i tell you the first one up had to not only deal with a toilet seat as cold and frosty as a witches heart,but often a scrim of ice on the toilet bowl water.there was not such thing as constipation when you sat on a seat like tht;0
