I wish now that I had took the time to learn better needle skills from my mom and grandma but wasent interested then. I wanted to be outside with the horses. I did do knitting in 4-H one year.

yes, I love knitting and crocheting and all. My grandmother used to make lace... not by tatting though... I don't know the word in english. She did it on a board with little wooden pegs, and pins to keep it in place.

Sorry if I am repeating this story - when Mum retired they moved down to a largish island where they had a holiday home. Mums first achievement was to get together a lot of women on the Island to embroider and quilt a BiCentennial (or was it a Centennial?) quilt of local flora and fauna for the islands original school and now it sits in the Community Hall. It certainly cemented a lot of friendships and hundreds a local people attended her funeral in that Hall and 'under' the quilt. Very moving and special
