Now last night she was â„… a rt. lower quad "side ache" and I asked about BMs, bowel sounds, fever, tenderness, appetite, etc. She rated the pains as "at times" a 4-5/10. I told her to go in (she lives in Missoula, MT) but doubt if she did. What would you guys do?

I fought to get my 13yr old into an endocrinologist because of his weight. everyone told me that he would hit his growth spurt soon and to wait. My family is riddled with diabetes and I insisted we go. He was found to have skin tags under his arm, which is a sign that he has the gene and would have been in trouble very soon if he diet and exercise was not drastically changed. I knew this to be true, but everyone else said I was being to protective. I mother knows! Now, if his father or anyone else doesn't follow the plan, he does not go there until they do.

When I was a County Health nurse in the early '70's "Up North" I had a little tape recorder that I could dictate my nursing notes on and the secretary would then transcribe them. But if I left the recorder out in the car and it was 40 below zero, the batteries were slow and the tapes would be recorded at a slower rate than normal. When she went to transcribe them, they sounded like the chipmunks!
