Anyone found a Qu word yet?
8:46 am
Rebecca
No - I ran through the whole enable dictioanry and the only one that comes close is qurush and we cant make that
8:49 am
mvuijlst
I has high hopes for Quran, but alas...
8:56 am
Rebecca
i agree that should be a word as should satan and saturn
8:57 am
discodave
Satan and Staurn are both proper names, kids - that's why they're not valid. It's in the rules at the top right.
8:59 am
Rebecca
i know discodave but it would mean the difference between 70 words and 72 words - lol
9:02 am
mvuijlst
I'm at 76 words but still nothing longer than 5... it's driving me up the walls!
9:04 am

Rebecca
i take it from that exclamation you found that nice big scoring 9 letter word ?
9:28 am
mvuijlst
Yes! AndI would've found another nine and evne a ten letter words if the dictionary behind this was a good one :)

Boo!!
9:34 am
Rebecca
yes the dictionary leaves a little to be desired - they should have used a more international one
9:36 am
discodave
It's the same dictionary as is used for Scrabble. That's the point - it's a cross between Scrabble and Boggle.
9:38 am
Rebecca
discodave I am well aware of this but there are valid words that can be found in the scrabble dictionary that aren't allowed here
9:40 am
discodave
Fair enough. I'd have known that if I was using one, but I don't really see the point. Each to their own, though.
9:44 am
lawyer-1
Big deal....I get a 9-letter word and net 54 lousy points!
9:49 am
Rebecca
mvuijlst can i ask how many 4 and 5 letter words you have - pretty please ?
9:51 am
mvuijlst
Sure. 23 fives and 60 fours.
9:53 am
Rebecca
how many of these words are obscure?
9:56 am
mvuijlst
I didn't know the meaning of five of them, but they were plausible English, and were apparently accepted :)
9:56 am
Rebecca
thanks mvuijlst btw, i thought i was doing great with my score but you are doing heaps better than me :)
9:58 am
mvuijlst
Well, I'm afraid I've run out of steam. I'm off for a couple of hours.

Soooo, Saturn is proper and therefore out, but biblical names are not? That's so lame. As a devout follower of the Greco-Roman pantheon I am totally offended by this preferential treatment.

I'm new to this... found you through a link on another blog. So, how do we play? Must the letters abut, to make a word?? Are diagonals allowed???

Well the last two days have been 10 minute attacks at the puzzle while I'm waiting for family and friends to arrive so I haven't been able to do a proper attempt. Hopefully this coming week will be back to normal and I can start making tolerable scores again. Good luck everyone and have a good "rest of the weekend" wherever you are.

I've not had much of a chance to play the last couple days either. And christine... the numbers are: words found/average word length/ score. Hope that helps =)
7:52 pm
Rebecca
ok I give up - i know someone who has this score : 126 / 4.80 / 1348 - so i think I might retire as i'm never going to find another 45 words
8:13 pm
Christine
And yet another question... if I sign off, can I return to the same list, before midnight? or will I lose the words I finally found, and need to start again?
9:01 pm
babs
yes, your list will stay as long as you log back in with the same log on
