I had a springer spaniel that had spondilytis. He was OK if he didn't bounce around too much, but springer's are notoriously hyperactive, so it was difficult to keep him under control. The vet quoted us Â£3,800 to operate on him, but said it would only last for about a year and he'd have to have it done again as the growth would come back. Vets certainly know how to squeeze, don't they?

Had to call them once about my neighbours dog and they refused to even come out!

Dying doesn't worry me. I had a near-death experience years ago and I can tell you it is amazingly wonderful on "the other side." I believe when we die the spirit leaves and goes on to continue its destiny. That body that's left behind was merely a vessel.
