Strangely my Dad's just had a hip replacement. Mind you he's 75! No, to be fair, I think mine's just a touch of rheumatics - if we have a damp summer I always get rheumatic pain but this is worse than usual but like I said it's easing a bit, so by the weekend I should be back to doing cartwheels and gymnastics lol

on a different tangent here, it is funny to watch the class i am in now; the teacher gave two weeks notice for a deadline on all old assignments to be handed in. The date was yesterday and no old stuff would be marked after that date. That will leave two weeks for all new stuff till the end of the class. they got into some sugarfree gum - turns out the xylitol in it is a deadly poison for dogs

we got them to the emergency vet hospital less than 2 hours later, and they both had low blood sugar although not dangerously low, thank goodness

so they spent the night and day there, got IV glucose until their sugar levels came back up, got all kinds of other things checked, seem ok now although we will still have to have them tested for liver damage in another day or two, as that doesn't always show up right away

yes, my son came home and found shredded gum wrappers but no gum - he thought it just might clog them up but when he started looking into it, he found out about the xylitol

they weren't acting very symptomatic - in fact they seemed fine - but that is good, as if they catch it early they can get their blood sugar back up and avoid a lot of bad results

Sue...it seems like you and I have similar cats. Mine have left a path of destruction in m apt. But these are the most affectionate cats I've ever had, so I endure....I recite this mantra on a regular basis "It's the living creatures that matter, not the inanimate objects" and I keep repeating that until I believe it.
