I have researched it via a Guardian newspaper article. In 1968 a Dr Kwok wrote an article saying that he suffered from strange cramps in the back of his neck after eating at a Chinese restaurant. MSGs had been in major use since 1942 and nobody had complained until 1968. In 1980 75 countries did a major study and all came to the conclusion there was no proof of anything. In 2002 the theory was put forward that it was down to psychosis or "you suffer what you are TOLD to suffer" - i.e the placebo effect. And to this day there is NO evidence that MSGs are harmful to you.
