one year i shared a greek easter, starting at midnight in their church. it was fantastic. an incredibly moving experience.

my best easter ever was a celebration over a week, preparing for easter and ending in the celebration. We danced (Sacred Dance), and did many things around the bible text of "God has no hands but ours" and the nature theme of the caterpillar and the butterfly. We also kept a flame burning in the night before the crucifixion, keeping watch, everybody for an hour.

it was in a center that lives in the Franciscan tradition. And the miraculous thing was, a homeless man came at the door during that night, asking for a bit of water. Our teacher asked him in, and washed his feet, and gave him water and food and a bed for the night. The man insisted on sharing a watch with us at the flame. And he told us about his life. In the morning he left and we all felt blessed having met him.
