I will start you off with one http://tinyurl.com/oyafnkd but if you go here http://zenpencils.com/ and click on the drop-down menu on the top right-hand side of the page, you will have 175 inspiration Zen pencil comics to choose from. Enjoy!

Can't believe we are at May 24 weekend already. It is supposed to warm up again.
5:52 am
sukee
I have wine in for the long weekend :)
5:52 am
crosshair
That's right, I forgot. This Monday is an off day:)
5:53 am
crosshair
Wine is a total waste on me. i used to drink wine while waiting for the real booze to show up:)
5:53 am
sukee
I was thinking it would be next week.
5:54 am
sukee
I haven't had a drink for a while, not even at Christmas :) That gum is still bothering me a bit, the alcohol should help a bit. I am thinking it's not my tooth but that I probably got a raspberry seed under my gum.
5:54 am
crosshair
The calenders have shifted over the years, so May 2-4 is no longer actually on May 24th itself:)
5:55 am
sukee
I guess it's now the 3rd Monday in the month regardless.
5:55 am
sukee
How should we celebrate Queen Victoria? :D
5:56 am
crosshair
I also have not drank anything in at least 8 months:(
5:57 am
sukee
Al wine does now is make me sleepy and turn my legs to rubber :) But I do like the taste.
5:57 am
crosshair
She was a foul, vain woman while in power, so the best way to celebrate is to have a drink, plant our gardens and raise a glass to the old battle-axe.
5:59 am
crosshair
In coin collection, especiall in the early large canadian peiines from 1858 to 1901, Victoria's image on the coin had at least three different version because she lost her mind when the early attempts portrayed her double or triple chins:)
6:00 am
crosshair
Counting her chins is a way to identify coin run varieties;)
6:02 am
sukee
Hearing about BB King, hearing he died made me tear up this morning.
6:02 am
crosshair
I used to collect coins for years. Interestingly enough the 1858 and 1859 coins were shipped over from England's and the Heaton Mint, since we still did not have our own mint. Those two years had to last us for the next 17 years before we stamped our own:) History is a funny thing:)
6:03 am
crosshair
Before 1858, we had upper and lower canada tokens oand local trade tokens instead. Either that or barter in raw gold or silver.
6:04 am
sukee
Very interesting.
6:04 am
crosshair
it was. i own one or two tokens, but have since sold them
6:05 am
crosshair
And of course any world-wide gold coinage was bartered by weight, regardless of country origin.
6:06 am
crosshair
lol. I will stop boring the chog:)
6:10 am

8:24 am
Trifioso
hello friends
8:25 am
Trifioso
Molly, that is completely, and sadly, true - a man in Utah was fired - FIRED - from his job for teaching about homophones. They accused him of "promoting the gay agenda"
8:26 am
suefrad625
ARGGGGG
8:26 am
Trifioso
Newsweek reported on it in July of 2014
8:26 am
suefrad625
what happened to the freedom to teach?
8:27 am
suefrad625
I am subbing right now and when a student asks me to call him/her buy their transgender name, I DO.
8:29 am
Trifioso
absolutely. We have our first TG student this year, who has now earned the legal right to use the boys bathroom, locker room, etc. It's new ground, to be sure, but he is finding acceptance
8:31 am
suefrad625
I love Jesus and he loves me! He loves my gay sons and they love Him! What the heck is the problem????
8:31 am
MimiCat
Don't know if anyone remembers a show Marlo Thomas did MANY years ago but it was called "Free to Be You and Me." Guess we still haven't learned.
8:32 am
MollyL
Sadly, there are a lot of "Christians" who would tell you that Jesus doesn't love your gay son.
8:33 am
suefrad625
Then they are not reading the words, just making up from hate or condemnation of the old testaments.
8:33 am
Trifioso
I'm not even speaking of the gay issue - this guy was talking about HOMOPHONES - and got fired. Have people lost their minds completely?
8:34 am
suefrad625
Are you serious? like the words that sound the same but have two different meanings??? that word?
8:34 am
MollyL
Yes Trif, they have.
8:34 am
Trifioso
that's the one, sue.
8:34 am
suefrad625
They better get nailed to a cross for that!!!
8:35 am
suefrad625
sick bastards
8:35 am
MimiCat
It's too bad people aren't secure enough within themselves to allow others to lead the lives they want to lead. Who am I to judge someone else?
8:35 am
MollyL
I know of an elementary school who had to take down a bulletin board the kids did about the westward movement in American history because it said "Westward Ho!!"
8:35 am
Trifioso
amen mimi
8:36 am
Trifioso
hahahahaha molly!
8:36 am
MollyL
Nailed to a cross???
8:36 am
MimiCat
:)) And there sure were a lot of those in the old west, right? I probably would have been one!
8:38 am
suefrad625
oh my God...what are you going to do about Santa Claus?????? Kill Him he says HO HO HO to everyone
8:38 am
MimiCat
And comes into your house while you are sleeping...whoa.
8:39 am
Trifioso
sue, a friend of mine moved to a remote area of Indonesia for a while, for her husband's job. Though almost no one in the area was Christian, for some reason the stores and towns got all decked out for
"Christmas" but they really didn't get it - Santa on a cross was EVERYWHERE
8:39 am
suefrad625
are you naughty or nice
8:39 am
Trifioso
and several stores had displays featuring Jesus driving the sleigh. Her photos are HILARIOUS
8:39 am
MimiCat
Some people just need to get real lives of their own and maybe they won't have time to criticize others.
8:40 am
suefrad625
dont worry trif, i am sure we will do that here since the kids here know about as much about Christmas as they do
8:40 am
MimiCat
Funny, Trif. What a HOot!
8:41 am
Trifioso
This year for prom the High School set up a red carpet area that led to the buses driving the kids to the event. Due to time constraints, the last group of kids didn't get to walk the carpet. Big deal. Some mothers were CRYING, complaining to the principal, besides themselves. I couldn't EVEN
8:41 am
MollyL
Santa on a cross is kind of dark
8:42 am
MollyL
I think proms have gotten so over the top.
8:42 am
Trifioso
I want one more than I can fully articulate, molly
8:42 am
suefrad625
I like the Jesus driving the sleigh, i think i will get one of those. At least it is the real meaning of Christmas.
8:43 am
MimiCat
I like that idea, too, sue.
8:43 am
suefrad625
well you know it could not have possibly been the kids fault for getting there late. It is never the kids fault. Heavens for bits
8:44 am
Trifioso
it was the first year they tried it, next year they will do a better job timing the walking. No harm, no foul. For goodness sake, kids DIE every day.....get some perspective moms!
8:45 am
MimiCat
Is it just me or is this a tough little grid?
8:45 am
MollyL
Ah yes, Jesus driving a sleigh. THAT is the true meaning of Christmas.
8:45 am
suefrad625
I am subbing and all of the directions for the teachers are about individual work....let me ask you all, how many of you have EVER worked at a job that you are supposed to rely on just your own knowledge? How can we still be teaching this way instead of cooperative learning?
8:46 am
Trifioso
I cant' budge the a in the top row - count please?
8:46 am
suefrad625
i got an44 girls na4
8:47 am
Trifioso
thanks sue. And I have had similar frustrations with sub plans - they are either written down to the minute, or not written at all, and either way the teacher chews your butt. It's a no win
8:49 am
MimiCat
Gotta get to work. Expecting lots of rain here in Phoenix today---YAY!! Have a "good Friday" everyone!
8:50 am

8:51 am

I work at home so I can just enjoy it!
8:54 am

2nd column g?
8:54 am
MLFAN17
hello all
8:54 am
suefrad625
my kids lie to the teacher and tell them i was a miserable bitch, so the teacher brings me back. I only sub HS now. I make a hall pass that they take at will, one at a time, and dont ask. I tell them if they cant find the way back, to go to the nurse because they have something wrong with them and that is not my job. I tell them to eat and drink because physically they can NOT learn is the state of dehydration or hunger, but I am not their mother so they better clean up after themselves. I always start my class by telling them i have one rule in my life "that i respect you. What you do with it, how you honor it, is up to you each. There are consequences to your actions. But know that i am just a sub so i dont care what happens to you tomorrow. That is between your parents and the school if you get in trouble...i just sub another class tomorrow. Today i will be the last to leave in a fire and the first to the door if there is danger, but make no mistake, i will not disrespect you as i ask you to leave, and you WILL leave." In 4 years of subbing my way, i have never had an issue. They deserve respect before they respect me.
8:54 am
MLFAN17
how about the I on he 2nd column instead?
8:56 am
suefrad625
dont have 2nd column a yet

well, I'm sooo disappointed . . . tickets went on sale this morning at 10:00 for Neil deGrasse Tyson at TN Performing Arts Ctr Nov. 18 -- at exactly 10:00 I started trying to buy tix on their website -- you're not going to believe this but according to their website all seats were already sold out -- at least for Wednesday -- so I tried calling their tix phone no. and the recording said "wait time will be over 60 minutes" -- I give up
10:23 am
Uneaixoise
only 2 performances and the friends going with me can't go on the 19th --- of course, it's probably sold out as well
10:31 am
josephjames
what does he... do?
10:31 am
josephjames
i mean he's a scientist, does he just lecture?
10:31 am
josephjames
is it a comedy routine?
10:31 am
Uneaixoise
he's a world-famous scientist -- speaker, writer, has TV show
10:32 am
josephjames
i know i just wonder what he woudl DO for a live performance
10:32 am
Uneaixoise
he's brilliant and clever and just a downright genius!
10:32 am
josephjames
what would this particular performance consist of
10:33 am
Uneaixoise
I assume he'd speak on a variety of topics -- am a HUGE fan
10:33 am
josephjames
that is all i wondered
10:33 am
MollyL
I wasn't sure why a lecture by this guy would be so popular.
10:34 am
Uneaixoise
wow, just tried to get into their website to see how they described his performance -- high volume has crashed it -- good grief
10:34 am
josephjames
so many academics are boring public speakers that when they find a good one they really latch on to him
10:36 am
Uneaixoise
i could watch/listen to him read the phonebook -- he's a fantastic speaker . . . sigh
10:37 am
Uneaixoise
he's written at least 10 books -- this may be in part to promote his newest publication . . .
10:40 am
Uneaixoise
ok here's what his Austin publicity says re this tour: an evening of engaging conversation on science, exploration and the world as we know it.
10:40 am
sukee
Lucky you Une, I would love to see NDT live.
10:41 am

He is an astrophysicist, hosted the show Cosmos, is the director of the Hayden Planetarium. I follow him on Facebook.
10:55 am

Let's hope she does :)

11:02 am

He sounds like the UUSue of the real live world
11:03 am

what are the stats for the y, and the lone i please?
11:03 am

11:03 am
Uneaixoise
so far there have only been 3 episodes
11:04 am
MollyL
The lone I is an adverb, cold
11:04 am

11:04 am
MollyL
That whole cockles thing has always confused me
11:05 am

Oh he is such a rock star! Whenever he's been on Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert's shows, he's been the perfet combination of witty and edifying.

11:06 am
Uneaixoise
I totally agree, doren!!!
11:06 am

I'd love to see him live. When I was volunteering for the Jazz at the Planetarium series many many years ago, I noticed this charismatic guy with a bunch of other men, several Friday nights. Had no idea who he was then, but just knew he was someone important.
11:06 am
harpjane

11:06 am
MollyL
Ooo, another fan girl checks in. This Science Guy has quite a following.
11:06 am

11:07 am
harpjane

11:08 am

wouldn't dream of comparing him to Bill Nye ("the Science Guy"). My grandkids loved watching him on the recreated Cosmos. Hah, Une. not surprised. Hey Une, going to Wolf Hall part I on Sunday. Did you watch the PBS series?
11:08 am
Uneaixoise
omg!!! how fabulous, doren!!!!
11:09 am

I have been here about an hour and I think I have found one more word :)
11:09 am

11:09 am

Une, I didn't know you're in Nashville too!!
11:09 am
Dorens
I had thought I'd been to enough theater this year, but then TDF offered $39 tickets, so.....
11:09 am
Uneaixoise
Bill Nye's a very cool science guy as well!!
11:09 am
sukee
I'm too busy watching baseball these days.
11:09 am
Uneaixoise
$39?! are you kidding?!
11:10 am

11:10 am
sukee
Thank you redshoes :)
11:10 am

I had missed that one.
11:10 am

no idea where the seats are though. that's what TDF does.
So, Mark Rylance is in the PBS version and he is just genius!!
11:10 am
redshoes
I do what I can. It was my first word. Ha.
11:11 am
Dorens
thanks reds.
11:11 am
Uneaixoise
it's not a very big theatre though, right?
11:12 am
Uneaixoise
Tony Awards tribute to Tommy Tune this year should be GREAT!
11:12 am
Dorens
wintergarden... don't think it's one of the smaller ones. I've been so lucky in other areas of my life... I decided I'll take my chances. If they're not great seats, I'll still enjoy
11:12 am
sukee
Cool, the Tony Awards are my favorite awards show.
11:12 am
Uneaixoise
back when i was going on theatre tours with my mom every year, we saw several shows he starred in :-)
11:12 am
Uneaixoise
oh, ok, yeah Wintergarden's big
11:13 am
Uneaixoise
isn't that where Phantom played for years?
11:13 am
sukee
I like the fact the awards let you see parts of plays.
11:13 am
Uneaixoise
me too, sukee!
11:13 am
Dorens
Yes.. He's an amazing talent. My very good friend has a condo in South Beach and I've been there with her often. Yoga on the beach at 7 AM.. Tommy is there every time we've been. Front and center. and a very sweet guy.
11:13 am
Uneaixoise
how fun!!!!
11:14 am

I just discovered that a glass of wine is great for a nagging toothache. It's been getting better every day but this is better than aspirin :)

And, hey! Who doesn't like wine?
3:02 pm
MollyL
Earlier it was reported that wine is a total waste. I think some people enjoy it as their drink of choice. It beats Vodka straight out of the bottle.

Hi crossy. Left a note yesterday --- last check all clear, so I don't have to go back for a YEAR. Hurrah!
5:41 pm
crosshair
Personally, I never said it was a waste, rather, I said that wine was wasted on me. I said this because it does not matter if it is a 5 dollar bottle of wine made last week, or a ten thousand dollar bottle that has been aging in some rich guys cellar for 50 years, it all tastes the same to me--grape juice.
5:41 pm
crosshair
Yaa for ch1212!!!

Now, a 20 year old bottle of single malt, aye, that is a thing of beauty:)

hi everyone
5:48 pm

crossy if wine tastes like grape juice you are not drinking the right kind of wine! A fine wine is just like a fine single malt and should be tasted in the same manner -- small estate wineries produce the best

We are fortunate in that we have a Canadian Mist distillery right here in town. Every once in a while they uncask a rare wonder out of their storage facilities to share with the locals.

We are lucky in that there are different tipples for different folks, cybernan:)

single malt rye, crossy?
5:51 pm
crosshair
yup. Not something I am heavily into, but it is a nice change over swilling vodka.

Recently our Canadian Mist uncasked a 40 year old and blended it with two others, a 20 year old, and a ten, and named it after our home town. they produced a very small batch. was very nice.
