Actually the hounds have on-off switches. Once they have some exercise they just lay around.

Many years ago I found a stray coonhound puppy wandering the neighborhood and kept it until I could find a home for it and I do remember that charateristic (sp?) of the dog

They were bred to hunt bear and mountain lions actually and their job was to tree the animals until the humans showed up. They have loud bays :-)
