I have read that summer is not going to let go until October sometime
6:43 am
crosshair
Here, it is like flipping a switch usually. Amazing Fall through September and part of October, then a few frosts to give us warming, and finally, it is an even bet on whether the kids will be wearing costumes or snow gear on the 31st. After that you get a few flurries that do not stay because the ground is still too warm, then once into November, all bets are off.

Some said Pence should talk Trup into withdrawing and then run himself. Who would vote for Pence, he's just as bad as Trump, but with velvet gloves
10:27 am
EvaNadine
the saddest part of all of it to me is that his supporters dont realize how truly dangerous he is.
i, quite literally, have good friends who are planning an exit strategy to leave this country if he is elected because they simply dont feel like their lies or livelihoods are safe if they stay here under his regime. simply for being who they are.
10:28 am

hard to believe anyone could be as clueless as trump appears to be --- makes one wonder if he isn't doing a study in social anthropology to see how much it would take to disgust the average redneck
maybe he is doing a study in social anthropology to see how much it would take to disgust the average redneck (I use that term, because everyone else was disgusted a long time ago). But then, again, I don't really think he is that bright.

Both candidates are people I would not vote for, but you have to take the lesser of two evils. The ONLY way to change things is at the ballot box.

Cybernan - you are right!

sorry knight, but it appears that you have bought into the Republican slam campaign. Have you ever considered that the government servers have been hacked more often (and still are) than Hillary's private server?
10:42 am

pointing out the mistakes of others does not justify the lies she told.

no thanks Knight, I am very thankful to be a Canadian and will not even holiday in the US anymore thanks to the gunhappy attitude down there. Also I am very happy with our universal health care system. Like most Canadians, my main concern is that everything that happens in US government will also eventually affect us.

due date is 9/26, but due to his size, i may end up with a c-section. i will find that out in a few weeks...
but in the meantime, my request to TW starting 9/1 was approved, so thats good news!

12:03 pm
lilliann
Glad to hear everything is going well Eva.I think if he's that big it would be better to have a c-section:) A friend of mine had a boy over twelve and a halve pounds naturally....OUCH is all i can say! :)
12:04 pm
MLFAN17
CO 5/14?
12:04 pm

yikes lilli, i have not given birth but that makes me cringe

12:07 pm

I don't have co5 yet Mlf
12:07 pm
MLFAN17
Lillian co 5/14 and co 5/16:)
12:08 pm
lilliann
She had 4 boys, all over 11 pounds plus and i don't think she had one c-section
12:08 pm
lilliann
I don't have the co5/14 you asked for Mlf but i do have the otherone
12:09 pm
EvaNadine
my appt in a few weeks includes an internal exam to determine (in the doctors words) "whether or not the train has a chance of fitting through the tunnel"
as for me, im generally feeling pretty good.
tired + heavy...occasional ankle/feet swelling...occasional acid reflux...some pain in the expected areas (inner leg joints, mostly, and sometimes lower back)
but nothing unbearable and all totally worth it. :)
12:09 pm
MLFAN17
are they bigger then they should be now for whatever their ages are?
12:09 pm
EvaNadine
CO 5/14 is just like the 5/16 with a different last letter.
12:09 pm
MLFAN17
Lillian I have the other one as well:)
12:10 pm
MLFAN17
got it ty
12:11 pm
lilliann
Yes, as you near the end it does get quite uncomfortable but well worth it as you say.I had a great pregnancy until the end when i had pre-eclampsia which is why she was born early but she was born healthy and is now nearly 17
12:13 pm
lilliann
I haven't seen them for years Mlf.they are now in their 20's.they live in another part of the country from me now.
12:15 pm
EvaNadine
so far, my biggest "issue" is that i failed the 1-hour glucose test. while i passed the 3-hour test, they did discover that i have trouble processing simple sugars...so im supposed to be altering my diet accordingly...but its HARD!
12:15 pm
EvaNadine
that, unfortunately, is part of what's contributing to a big boy. heh
12:16 pm
lilliann
years ago here, c-sections were only carried out if problems during birth but now you can actually ask for one here.I'm glad i could have her naturally.
12:20 pm
EvaNadine
im not sure if i could have just requested one outright, but the doctor was clear that if there was no chance of baby fitting out naturally, she wasnt gonna put me in a position to push for hours on end + end up having one anyway...
12:21 pm
lilliann
So, is it just to do with your pregnancy Eva, or were you diabetic before? My ex- sil got diabetes when she was pregnant with her 3rd i think and is still diabetic, but she could have been diabetic before she was pregnant and didn't know it, but i do know of others that have had gestational diabetes and then been fine after
12:22 pm
EvaNadine
honestly, im not sure.
i do NOT have diabetes or any sort (before or now).
but i think its quite possible that my body may have already had this trouble with simple sugars + i just had no way of knowing until now...
12:23 pm
EvaNadine
what i DO know is that its virtually impossible to NOT eat ice cream during the summer. ;)
12:24 pm
therealblah
ooh i've been craving a root beer float lately...and i don't usually drink soda...
12:25 pm
EvaNadine
ooh, i LOVE root beer floats
12:26 pm
therealblah
sorry i shouldn't have trained your mind in that direction then ;)
12:26 pm
lilliann
Well, he's healthy, so that's the main thing! Do you have any particular cravings Eva? I never ate ice cream but i did have a couple of jam doughnuts.I've never had much of a sweet tooth. My craving was semi skimmed milk. I used to drink 4 6 litre bottles a day
12:27 pm
EvaNadine
im already eating ice cream now, so it doesnt much matter...heh
i cant WAIT until i can have a little something alcoholic, though. im not normally much of a drinker, but i could totally got for something!
12:28 pm
EvaNadine
baby has definitely kicked my sweet tooth into overdrive, so thats been tough. ive also been drinking a LOT of milk...and randomly had peanut butter for dinner last night. literally, just spoonfuls of PB straight out of the jar. LOL
12:28 pm
lilliann
I think when you can't have something, you want it all the more.As soon as the bairn was born i had a peanut butter sandwich :)
12:28 pm
EvaNadine
but for the most part, not really all that many cravings...
12:28 pm
EvaNadine
could you not have PB?
12:29 pm
lilliann
no, we weren't allowed peanuts
12:30 pm
EvaNadine
i sent hubby out the other night for a specific brand of ice cream. its higher in protein + lower in sugar (and calories!) than most, so at least its not SO BAD when i eat it.
(which is what im eating now!)
12:30 pm
therealblah
i wonder if that is related to how many kids have peanut allergies now? (i.e. lack of exposure)
12:30 pm
lilliann
saying that i had peanuts and alcohol a few Saturdays in a row before i knew i was pregnant and she was fine so i didn't think it would harm her but i stopped eating them anyway and drinking obviously and i was glad to have liver aswell after she was born as i like liver, oh and prawns
12:31 pm
therealblah
i would miss sushi
12:32 pm
EvaNadine
the only things my doctor put completely off-limits to me are brie cheese (cant be pasteurized) and raw-fish sushi.
so im allowed other soft cheese (so long as theyre pasteurized, which almost all are) and cooked or vegetarian sushi (which at least satisfies the craving, though i cant wait for the REAL stuff again!)
12:33 pm
MollyL
<---Had an 11 pound baby, no c-section
12:33 pm
lilliann
It could well be Blah, the same with germs.I used to pick chewing gum up off the street and eat it and i was never ill.We have to have some germs in us so we can build up an immunity. It's too germ free now which is probably why kids get ill all the time.
12:33 pm
Atalante
what about raw fish sashimi :D
12:34 pm
EvaNadine
i didnt specifically ask about THAT, ata. ;)
12:34 pm
therealblah
i think the rawness is the problem ata :)
12:36 pm
EvaNadine
my doctor DID point out that japanese women eat sushi all the time + their kids turn out just fine.
but i think its also that over there, they are used to that food + know to handle/store the fish in such a way as not to contaminate it. its not quite so ingrained in our culture, so its more likely to be no bueno.
12:36 pm
lilliann
i was told, nuts, prawns, pate(which i love) raw fish, alcohol and definitely not liver.and all meat had to be cooked properly...but that was nearly 17 years ago so things change. My husband also made me a pate sandwich to go with my peanut butter one after the bairn was born...i was in heaven! :D
12:37 pm
Atalante
well learly you just needed to move to japan
12:38 pm
EvaNadine
all my doctor said about meat was that steaks should be cooked well-done (yeah, RIGHT) and that lunchmeat should be fresh or cooked through. so i can HAVE lunchmeat, but i want to be mindful of where it came from + how it was stored.
12:38 pm
EvaNadine
i have to admit that, while i havent had a LOT of steak, i have had some (as well as burgers) and i have NOT been asking for them well-done. i just cant do it!
12:39 pm
hego
Don't blame you Eva.
12:39 pm
lilliann
I must admit, if i have a steak it has to be medium
12:40 pm
EvaNadine
i prefer medium-rare, but i usually TRY to remember to ask for it medium...yknow, CLOSER to well-done.
12:41 pm
hego
There you go!
12:42 pm
therealblah
i'm pretty sure my mom smoked during all her pregnancies...they didn't know any better back then
12:43 pm
therealblah
and i turned out fine...i think...relatively speaking :D
12:44 pm
EvaNadine
i know preggo ladies are allowed the occasional glass of wine...im not much of a wine gal, but id take it over nothing.
alas, hubby is a little paranoid + wont let me!
(time to sneak out for a night with the gals!)
12:45 pm
hego
In France ladies are permitted a glass a day.
12:45 pm
EvaNadine
in the meantime, whenever we ARE out + someone orders an adult beverage, i ask if i can just SMELL it. most of my friends laugh + hand their glasses over. ;)

... I know that Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a great tragedy which seems to be avoidable ... ... but with No.2 my wife drank far more than is recommended and was using a migraine medication, Imitrex, which was new at the time ... ... but perhaps by good fortune No.2 is fine and too smart for her own or my own good ... ... I'll guess that these is a lot of individual variation ... ... so if you want an alcoholic drink ... take it ... but I'd suggest slowly, with food and perhaps watered down and not often
12:55 pm

The idea is to give the little one every chance.
12:55 pm
EvaNadine
agreed, which is why i have conceded.
12:55 pm
EvaNadine
but i would LOVE just a little sip. ;)
12:55 pm

I wasn't bothered about alcohol but i must admit i did smoke but i did cut down to 5 a day and with not drinking every Saturday night i didn't smoke at all but saying that i was getting everyone elses' smoke so i didn't need too and the bairn was fine.

Also fine thanks. Enjoying our whale watching season.

Sounds great. would love to see some!
7:04 pm
Lizlin
They are awesome. We have a season ticket and go out pretty much every week at this time of year. Even if they're not very active, which they weren't yesterday, it's still so amazing to see them.
7:05 pm
zoozzoom
Especially when they blow through their airhole!
7:06 pm
Lizlin
Yes but the best here is when they breach or when they mug the boat, which means they swim right next to the boat. They're so huge.
7:06 pm
Lizlin
We have a very long season here because we're right in the middle of their migration route, so we get them swimming north and south.
7:06 pm
zoozzoom
I bet that is scary yet great at the same time!
7:07 pm
Lizlin
Not scary just breath-taking! I guess if we were on a rowing boat that could be scary.
7:07 pm
zoozzoom
I did a very stupid thing today yet people would find it funny.
7:08 pm
Lizlin
What did you do?
7:09 pm
zoozzoom
I was cutting my hair with the clippers and the plastic bit that cuts the hair at a grade came off and before i could stop I shaved a bold patch right up the side of my head!! And now I look like a right idiot.
7:09 pm
zoozzoom
Okay you can stop laughing now!!
7:09 pm
Lizlin
Yikes! You could always match the other side! Or just wear a cap all summer! I hope your hair grows quickly.
7:10 pm
Lizlin
And OK - I've stopped laughing :)
7:10 pm
zoozzoom
I was going to put a cross of plasters on it to make it look like I had been injured so it would not look silly lol
7:11 pm
Lizlin
But that'll hurt when your hair starts growing and you pull the plasters off!
7:12 pm
rururocks
