the Jackpine lake fire is in the mountains about 25 km away from us and is small (13 hectares). The Bear Creek fire is a lot closer (about 10 km) and is of more concern. It started during the storm last night and has resulted in some evacuations (wondered what all the sirens were aobut) but no houses lost so far. Now that it is daylight they will be able to hit it with the water bombers and get things under control. We also had some rain this am, so no worries yet.

Me too. But I have been told I cannot donate. I was near death when they didn't know what was wrong with me and finally a resident at Stanford who had been in the Peace Corps said that he thought I had typhoid. They never thought to test for it before.

Hi all. I can't give blood either because I contracted some fom of jandice (hepatitis) when I was about 8. Add to that having such naturally low blood pressure (so much so that people taking my blood pressure and talking tome ask if I'm a corpse... my Dad was the same) giving blood is a no-no. Shame, cos' my blood group is quite rare, o nly 6% of the UK population.
