what coppers do is a very clever play on words. But try this for definition
Meat, such as duck, that has been salted and then cooked and preserved in its own fat.
A condiment made by cooking seasoned fruit or vegetables, usually to a jamlike consistency
4:01 am
mellowmasher
Can anyone tell me what the 7 swear words starts with please
4:02 am
Christine
Sara - you found 166 words in 10 minutes? Wow, girl!!
So far, 39 words for 456 points - I have three starting with Z, three containing Z. I have the 7 for 48, but can't yet find the 7 for 40.
Back to my book - see y'all later.
4:23 am

1) Mellowmasher -- only 9 more what??
2) Runningforhome had 87 words after only 9 minutes??
3) What IS this 7 for 40? Any clues, anyone???
Life is soooo hard; all I really want to do is spend a couple of hours away from the grid...
4:43 am
mellowmasher
I thought runningforhome said there was 87 words today?
4:44 am

Oh - but Sara has 166??
I really want to quit, for a while, but that 7/40 is driving me dotty...

I have 2 7's. One for 48 and one for 40. mellowmasher says there's another for 48 AND one for 52? I was already pleased with the two I found.
5:46 am
ConXshun
aha - 7 for 52 is connected with 7 for 40. now for the other 7/48
6:35 am
Christine
Can't stay away too long... any clues for the 7s? I have only the one pertaining to police procedure.
6:40 am
ConXshun

6:45 am

ConXshun - thanks for the clue - I had the four letter word, already, and tried to expand it in a direction it couldn't go.... now, to try for the 7/40.
Thanks again.

All those Es and Rs - all in the wrong place, and, for the most part, nusable.

NUSABLE?? I dunno.
Had another look at the grid... the two Rs in the lower left corner, and the V seem to be unusable.
8:11 am
jlm_mi
I think granadan may be confusing two 7s. ;) There is one that is what cops do, and another that fits the meat/condiment definitions. But they're not the same word, though both for 48 points.

claws - it probably won't help you find what you're looking for, but some info:
The solver I used showed 85 words with 3x7, 8x6, 25x5, 49x4. I checked the 7s after finding them all (4), however, and it does not have the duck/meat word. I'm guessing it also does not have it in singular form. So, if you are missing any words it's probably 1x4 and 1x5.
11:54 am
mellowmasher
I have 6xE if thats any help

Christine - haha, I wish I had 166, no I found all those yesterday! I'm only at like 30 today....I'm trying to figure out the cop clue that granadan gave me. thank you by the way for that clue.
*sigh* this puzzle is harder.
11:55 am
jlm_mi
im sara - Check out my 8:11 post
11:56 am
im sara
oh and p.s - what's a solver? there's something that cn actually give you the amount of words...? or am I being quite dumb?
11:57 am
jlm_mi
Yes, it solves the puzzle. It gives the entire word list, so in order to not make the game boring, you have to not look at the list, just the word counts. It does not use the same dictionary as babble, though, so it is not always 100% correct.
12:01 pm
im sara
thank you jlm_mi!
I found the duck meat word, but didn't get 40 points for it.
wow, i'm doing this without a solver. and it's super hard.
where do you get a solver?
12:02 pm
jlm_mi
The duck meat word for 40 points has 7 letters. . .
I don't think you want to use a solver to solve the puzzle do you? It's no fun at all to type in a list of words someone else came up with. I, and others, have used them to get a total word count and/or number of words of each length. Generally, that information gets posted here by one or more people during the day. But, if you want to play around with a solver, you can google or yahoo search for them.
12:05 pm
im sara
no no, I just want a word count too, that's all.
as for the word, I only got 6 letters, and I don't know how to get seven...unless it can be plural.
12:08 pm
im sara
k made it plural and got 48...soooo I dunno where the 40 is coming from. I have 7 letters.
12:08 pm
stevedallas
sometimes you just feel like an idiot. Been staring at that z trying to make more than one word for hours and finally it hit me in the face!
12:09 pm
jlm_mi
You're right, it's 7/48 just like the cop word. There is another 8 for 40.
12:09 pm
jlm_mi
Make that a 7 for 40, not an 8.
12:11 pm
runningforhome
What does the meat/condiment/duck word start with? I'm totally stumped.
12:12 pm
stevedallas
i personnaly like the word "econosize" thats what they sell at costco and sams club
12:12 pm
stevedallas
or the plural econosizes a nice 10 letter word
12:24 pm
im sara
jlm_mi I'm still stuck. Is it 7 for 40, or 8 for 40? I'm so confused. I just found the word, got 33, and then made it plural and got 48.
runningforhome - it starts with a "C"
12:25 pm
jlm_mi
7/40. I retracted the 8/40 - it was a typo.
You've gotten one 7/48, is that right? It's the plural of the duck word. There are other clues throughout the log to help you find another 7/48, a 7/40 and a 7/52. There are no 8 letter words in this puzzle.
12:26 pm
stevedallas
ok whats the sixth "e"?
12:26 pm
runningforhome
Hah, I already had it. That's what I get for not looking up the definitions.
12:27 pm
jlm_mi
Depends on what you've already got. ;) But I'm looking for it too. I have 3x4, 1x6, 1x7 starting with E.
12:29 pm
stevedallas
ditto
12:29 pm
im sara
okay so the duck word isn't a 40 then?
wow lol, this is intense.
there's a 40, 48 and 52 though? I have my work cut out for me. I still don't know the cop one though.
12:30 pm

12:39 pm
im sara
Well I have one 6/36 and if they all start with the same letter, then good luck to me getting the other two 36's. I can't find anymore with that letter

12:42 pm

I finally got the duck clue!!
12:43 pm

The 6/36 I was missing just jumped out at me! Yay! But still missing 1 6 if anyone knows the points for it.
12:49 pm
im sara
anyone have any clues whatsoever...I'm still really really stuck. I don't have the cop one yet, or the other two 6/36's
12:51 pm
stevedallas
ok jlm does your last 27 start with the same letter as your last 18?
12:54 pm
jlm_mi
im sara - some general tips:
Have you compared the number of words you have starting with each letter to the lists people have posted below? it's a great way to figure out where to concentrate your efforts.
Also, you know the number of points in the 7 letter cop word (48). Since a 7 letter word has the letter values x 4, the 7 letters must add up to 12 points. That means it must contain a 4-pointer and a 3-pointer. There is only 1 3-pointer in the grid, and although there are 3 4-pointers, one of them is pretty much unusable. That should get you thinking in the right areas. Also, there was a hint earlier that this word is a prefix on top of a 5-letter word, so a little more help there.
The same math steps should help you in finding the 36 point 6s. There aren't very many options there for the larger letter values.
12:55 pm
jlm_mi
Yes. The 18 is a fabric.
12:57 pm
im sara
thank very much.
I knew I should had done better in math
12:59 pm
stevedallas
got that 18 was wondering about your last 27 thats got me stymied
1:01 pm
jlm_mi
Aah - I see. That 27 is a plural of a 5 for 16. No idea what it means. The dictionary definitions don't help. But, it does look very similar to another common word, just missing the last letter in this grid.
1:01 pm
stevedallas
never mind got it thanks anyway
1:03 pm
stevedallas

1:18 pm

sara - I have the same. There are most likely only 2 A words, so you've found them all.
Found a 6th E, and it's the stupidest word! It's 4 letters for 7 points and is the combination of the two starting letters of two different words. It's more like an abbreviation, sort of like sci-fi for science fiction.
1:21 pm
jmbdobie
I got the e word too!
I also got the last word (I hope)...
It is a 5 letter c word that is very silimar to a singular form of a 4 letter c word you already have.
