parsec, you're assuming I sleep.

most of us need to at some point. most humans choose nighttime. statistically speaking, it was a good working assumption. =)
9:27 am
fnurt

I can never seem to spot the long words. So far I have just a 7 for 44 and no 8s at all.
9:34 am
lawyer-1

parsec, I am home recovering from major surgery. I sleep when it hits me, which blurs the distinction between day and night.

maybe "removing a Jack London novel" is a better way to phrase it. Now about them 8s...

Never can get the long ones......any clues for the 8's? Starting letters?

Suggestion to the Powers-That-Be: it would be great if along with every player's stats/word lists you could also show their time or how long they were logged on. I'm never a top scorer, but I usually only have time for 2 or so hours of play. Just wondering how my scores compare with others with a similar playing time.
12:40 pm
parsec

I'm still missing one, but the 8s i have are all Rs.
12:42 pm

Good suggestion, cz. I have 3 8's - 1-g & 2 r's.
12:42 pm

It wouldn't be accurate.I play on paper throughout the day then type all my words in right before I go to bed.

And I'm logged in all day, but only look at it occasionally, a few minutes at a time.
12:58 pm
cz

Well, might not be accurate for everyone...but if you knew that it was keeping track of the time you'd probably log off and log back on accordingly. I guess I'd like to be able to compare my scores because I know that many of the players that score higher than me spend a lot more time on the puzzle as well. It's obvious that you'd never be able to get complete accuracy (someone who writes down the puzzle on paper then logs on for a very short time or someone who forgets to log off and is on for 12 hours) but that's all in the spirit of the game.

I still don't get the Jack London clue...
1:21 pm

the JL book is about a dog. Or a wolf, i forget.
1:21 pm

Jack London was an author... part of the title of one of his most popular books will get you a 4 for 8 points, and its plural for 18.
1:24 pm
parsec

and the adjective for 33...
1:26 pm
faeanna

Yeah, I've got the 4/8 and 5/18 but fixit was referring to a 7/48..I don't get the clue for *that*.

there's a combo of 5 words that will get you a 6, 3x7, and an 8 -- start by thinking of a safe place

my earlier 'think of people putting up wallpaper' clue will get you a 7 word combo, including the root and various prefix/suffix attachments --

hi fixitfrmly. I got that one and was patting myself on the back :) Another clue to the biggee is stranger from another country
3:13 pm
anniem

thank you so much for the stranger clue. i got it! now, with the wallpaper, i think i got the base, but i'm missing all the extras. how do you get to an eight? i'm right thinking of a game with a stick figure, right?

ARRGGH!! I was just congratulating myself on getting to 14 As -- they are my nemesis. Don't find any more As! ;-D
My A vocab is limited to words like 'Ack!' and 'ark' but they are too small . . . ;)
3:50 pm
Daisy

I feel for you. The A's are terrible! My A-word vocabulary has increased tenfold since I started playing this game and I still miss tons of them!

There's a G-8?? Any clues for that one? I'm at a loss... :/
4:30 pm

the G8 builds on a G6--they're sewing words.
4:33 pm
jennyb

Great! I don't sew... ;-)
4:37 pm

um, think of wind, then add another syllable? the G6 is 21pts.
4:38 pm

Thank parsec, I got it!
4:39 pm

Aha! Got it! I know that word, it was right there the whole time. Thanks, parsec!

ur welcome.
and i know some people here have 19 As, but I have decided there are only 18. Stupid A words.
5:35 pm

No 8 letter words, but I've only been playing about an hour.
6:01 pm
marigold

Thanks for the clue Parsec got the G6 and the G8
7:20 pm
MerLi

When did he S 5/6 combo for 16/27 become a word? It's an acronym...sometimes I think this dictionary is just that...heh heh.
7:29 pm
jlm_mi

LOL - Never knew that was an acronym. I always thought it was just a word. LOVE what it stands for though! :-D
7:35 pm
jlm_mi

Oh, and it's actually a 5/6/7 combo. ;)
7:37 pm
periwinkle

What does the 8 for 60 start with, please?
7:39 pm
periwinkle

Wish I knew what the acronym was.
7:42 pm
trixiew

8 for 60 starts with r and its one of 5 words with the same root word
7:44 pm
periwinkle

Thanks trixiew. I will keep looking.
7:44 pm
MerLi

hey thanks - never would've tried that b/c the plural was already a stretch in my mind (situations?), the past tense is just plain silly (situationed?). :-]
8:31 pm
Christine

Periwinkle - the acronym is military in origin (I think), and suggests lack of surprise that everything's so screwed up.....
8:38 pm
Christine

Fixit - what a shame you can't use your A word (the one longer than three letters).... A6/33 plus whatever you get for
8:39 pm
Christine

Oooops, fixit - s/b 'plus whatever you get for three exclamation points"
8:45 pm
fit1

Christine, you are right that it is military in origin. I know what it stands for, and I've heard it toned down by those who don't like naughty words :)
8:56 pm
modina

i am still not getting this R8
9:05 pm
modina

ok....got it...i am a little slow
9:10 pm
onyx

i got an r 8 for 65 is there another?
9:23 pm
shutterbug

onyx, yes there is another 8 letter r word.
10:54 pm
Christine

fixit - I don't use that other word (remember, I'm perfect) so I'd say 'fouled up'
11:00 pm
Christine

Onyx and Modina - d'you still need clues for the two R8s?
i) think of escaping your country, for a safer place... with prefixes and suffixes - 5 words.
ii) think of wallpaper - again! With prefix and suffix - 3 words.
11:27 pm
boatierra

Is the R 8 for 65 dealing with the wallpaper? I got the one about escapeing...
11:28 pm
boatierra

Sorry, got confused there. I got that the R 8 for 65 deals with wallpaper, just how is what I have not figured out yet....
