Brian has a knee injury and he has been fobbed off with 'nothing can be done' but his doctor has referred him to a different hospital as she thinks that's ridiculous! He has a real phobia about hospitals and it takes all my energy to actually get him there

I went to Australia in 1992 for the 1st time for 3 months, We were based in Melbourne and visited all over the place except for Western Australia. I have been twice more since then, and Brian & daughter have spent 3 holidays in the outback - not for me!! Don't think we can do it again because of the long flight.

The key, Eva, is to not have feeding included with the bedtime routine, and he must fall asleep in his crib on his own with a security object, e.g. stuffed animal. that is his buddy all day.

we generally start the bedtime process around 8:00 (maybe a little earlier or later, if he is extra tired or extra awake)
daddy takes him upstairs + gives him a neb treatment while he takes a bottle, then gets him changed + into his sleep sack. usually hes pretty good about sleeping after that, but sometimes we hafta go back in a few times to pop the paci back in his mouth.

he still awakens several times a night...sometimes he put shimself back to sleep, but he usually needs at least one new diaper + 1-2 bottles throughout the night

Generally babies sleep 10-12 hours overnight, with no need to feed, at age 6 months. Try to move that bedtime bottle earlier, not part of bedtime, and to not feed him during the night.
