jo145
Hello, this is my first time playing, how do you what other people have scored? Jo
8:41 am
Krista
Welcome to Babble! Click on "view yesterday's puzzle" or click on archives. Then click on a person's name to see what words they got. You can't see today's words until the puzzle is over. Have fun - you do realize this game is very addictive and will ruin your life, right???! (jsut kidding on the ruination part).
9:04 am
Wendrie
we may have a tent but there isn't any rent...
9:08 am
Minski
Greetings.
Has anyone used the Z yet for anything?
9:11 am
Minski
I have used the U in one 4 letter word for 8 points. Are there more uses for it?
9:14 am
parsec
I only have the one use of u, but I have two words with z in them.
9:14 am
kthdsn
I have a 7 letter word with a U in
9:14 am
stevedallas
at least 3 uses of Z
9:15 am
jlm_mi
There are 137 words, I have stats for 135 of them:
2x8
12x7
14x6
39x5
58x4
10xA
8xC
11xD
13xE
12xF
16xH
3xI
5xN
13xR
6xS
28xT
10xW
I have so far used the Z and the U each 3 times.
For 7s I have only 3 - 40,40,28. I have 8 6s: 27,24,33,33,27,36,18,18. Feel free to compare!
9:22 am
parsec
7s-- not so many yet, but I have a 52 (sometime after the 28, i bet)
6s--mine start 18,24.
9:24 am
parsec
heh, now my 6s start 21, 18,24...
9:26 am
parsec
...and there is another 7/40. =)
9:27 am
jlm_mi
The 6/27 comes before your 21/18/24. :)
9:28 am
stevedallas
and a 7 for 36
9:28 am
Boo
Hey, Buffalo Boo! Good to see you adding words! ;-)
9:29 am
kthdsn
this is my first game, what is considered a decent score, I have got 223 at the mo and my highest word score is 44 for a 7 letter word
9:31 am
Boo
Thanks, Rochester Boo. It's pretty funny to come down, punch in a word and see it already taken!
9:33 am
Boo
Yes, that's how we knew you were working on it!
9:34 am
Boo
I feel slightly schitzophrenic at the moment ;-)
9:34 am
jlm_mi
kthdsn - Decent is in the eye of the beholder. :) You can see the total word count that I posted below to see how close you are to it. And if you click through the archives you can see what some other people have scored on previous games. But it's really up to you whether you want to strive to get all the words (and have babble take over the greater part of your life) or just work on it for a while and whatever you get, you get. It can become an addiction quickly! :-D
9:42 am
kthdsn
I am stuck I have only found 20 words so far, this is well hard!
9:53 am
shortseer
A6 more dry
E6 moral values
E6 french cooking term
F6 make bigger
H6 the home
R6 deprive a worker of their tools
S6 sat (archaic)
T6 person with a particular religious stance
T6 relatiing to thesis
A7 short song
A7 person with a particular religious stance
C7 chemical
D7 a directive
H7 sped
i7 inter
R7 woolen cloth
W7 relating to a food plant
T8 dramatic
T8 number
T9 histrionics
@jlm I think your count for the 4's should be 68 (i already have 65)
Damn damn damn ... i'm missing 17 words, and i can't stay long.
The biggies ...
I'm missing 3x 6's and 4x 7's.
Any clues for the missing ones?
9:58 am
Krys10
There is a second H7 related to the first one.
10:00 am
kthdsn
I have two 7's both starting in H if that helps
10:00 am
jlm_mi
Yep, it should be 68x4. Thanks for all those clues!
10:02 am
parsec
shortseer, you're missing an a/6 and an e/6, both related to 5s.
10:03 am
jlm_mi
Oh, and you are missing:
A6-27 powerful evil spirit
A6-18 a painter or sculptor, etc.
A6-24 storage space in a home (plural)
F6-33 stuffed, especially with mushrooms
10:06 am
shortseer
Another H7 ...
thanks
so far it's not exactly rushing out at me ;)
And what about this 6 for 24 ?
what does it start with?
10:06 am
Krys10
Also a T7 chemical term relating to solution strength.
10:07 am
jlm_mi
You mean the 6/24 I mentioned? It's an A word. ;)
10:08 am
Krys10
If the other H7 isn't jumping out at you, you're in too much of a rush :)
10:08 am
jlm_mi
The H7s are the action that was done and the person who did it. ;)
10:11 am
kthdsn
thanks for the clues I'm less stuck now!
10:17 am
shortseer
Oops
My E6 cooking term ... that should have said F6 ...
it's the stuffed one
So now i've got 12x 6's ... still 2 missing
And 10x 7's (including the T7 chemical term that i haven't figured out)
... still 2 unaccounted
10:34 am
shortseer
To recap (and correct the list)
A6-27 powerful evil spirit
A6-18 a painter or sculptor, etc.
A6 more dry
A6-24 storage space in a home (plural)
E6 moral values
F6-33 stuffed, especially with mushrooms
F6 make bigger
H6 the home
R6 deprive a worker of their tools
S6 sat (archaic)
T6 person with a particular religious stance
T6 relatiing to thesis
A7 short song
A7 person with a particular religious stance
C7 chemical
D7 a directive
H7 sped
H7 speeder
i7 inter
R7 woolen cloth
T7 work out chemical concentration
W7 relating to a food plant
T8 dramatic
T8 number
T9 histrionics
and is it right that there's another
" e/6, related to 5s. "
???
can i have a clue?
10:35 am
Krys10
The T7 I actually thought was a medical term about adjusting dosage, until I looked it up.
10:36 am
Krys10
...and both of my E6's are plurals of E5's.
10:38 am
parsec
plus e6--proclamations
10:38 am
jlm_mi
I was just going to say that I don't know about the mysterious E6 when I realized I just saw it! It is related to (plural of) an E5, not a 5S. It is similar in meaning to your D7.
Also, the A6 drier comes before the A6 painter.
10:41 am
shortseer
many's the time i remember doing some t-------ing in chemistry classes ;)
E6 decree or proclamation (pl.)
I cannot believe all the plurals i missed in this grid! I had all the smaller related words!
10:41 am
Krys10
I have nine 6's and four clues for 6's I haven't found yet.. are we sure there are twelve?
10:42 am
Krys10
Oh no, fourteen, sorry misread.
10:49 am
jlm_mi
The final 6 letter word also begins with T and goes at the end of the list alphabetically. It is a chemical word. There is also a 5-letter D word that goes with this that would be a chemical with one fewer bond.
10:56 am
Kirsty1
Has the E7 figures in these discussions yet? At the risk of repeating, a clue is that it would be the chap who implements a particular (and obscure) political and social system. Not to be found in dictionary.com :o)
10:56 am
shortseer
well that was easy seeing i had the D word
thanks :D
10:57 am
Kirsty1
FigureD, darn it.
11:00 am
jlm_mi
Kirsty1 - I think shortseer's comment was directed to my clue for the T6. :)
The E7 has not been mentioned yet. I feel like I know what it has to be, but can't find anything that will work. Still looking, though. :-D
11:03 am
Kirsty1
Just frustrated at my typo - it looks like such an odd comment now because it is sitting in amongst your discussions on Ds!!
11:16 am
shortseer
still missing 10 words but i've got to go.
*sob*
if i'm really lucky i might make it back online just before the game closes.
keep the clues coming!
12:12 pm
jo145
This is my first time and the words are mostly 4's but I have a 7 = 52 are there any better scores to find? Jo
12:22 pm
jlm_mi
Jo - I you look at my post from 9:15am you can see a breakdown of the words by length and starting letter to give you an idea of what to shoot for. Throughout the chat log there are hints to many of the 6, 7, 8, and 9 letter words.
12:53 pm
jlm_mi
The last 7-letter word starts with D (comes before the other D7) and is a rug made in India.
1:41 pm
fnurt
But wait, then there are 12 D's, not 11.
1:49 pm
Treble99
I havent got any D7 words, any clues please
1:59 pm
jlm_mi
Treble - There are clues for both D7 words in the chat log.
fnurt - So, you have 11 D words but not that one? I have 11 including that one. But, there is still one mystery word that we don't know the length or starting letter for, so it could be a D.
2:24 pm
fnurt
My D's are 4x7, 5x3, 7x2.
2:29 pm
jlm_mi
OK, it appears I'm missing a D5. Off to the hunt!
2:39 pm
runningforhome
How many of the W words start with WH?
2:43 pm
parsec
so I'm back after an hour or two, and i notice you've found a mystery D...but I thought there were two mystery words today? did anyone find the other?
2:45 pm
jlm_mi
Yes, the other is the T9 that shortseer hinted at earlier.
2:46 pm
jlm_mi
The 2 D7s are both accounted for in the solver results, so the mystery word is either 4 or 5 letters, but not sure which at this point. I know I'm missing a 5, but that doesn't mean anything!
2:48 pm
jlm_mi
OMG, I'm laughing so hard at myself right now! I found the D5 I was missing, and I actually used this word as a hint to one of the longer A words in an earlier post. I can't believe I didn't see it!!!!
3:49 pm
Karin
I have 12 D word :
2x7 , 3x5 , 7x4 .
4:43 pm
periwinkle

How many words are in this puzzle?
4:51 pm

Never mind, I read all of the posts. Thanks jlm_mi.
4:58 pm
Krys10
I am stuck on the E7 and I7. Lil help?
5:04 pm
periwinkle

5:13 pm
periwinkle
May I have a clue for the 2nd T/8, please. :)
5:14 pm
periwinkle
Nevermind, I found the clue. But can't get the word I want to fit.
5:15 pm

6:35 pm
marigold

6:37 pm
periwinkle

6:38 pm
periwinkle
I have 10 of the 7 letter words. Can't get the others :(.
6:42 pm
Krys10
Which ones are you missing? I'm missing the i7 and the E7...
6:43 pm
periwinkle
Krys10, I am missing the same ones. Are there clues in the log?
6:47 pm
mommanine
anybody have any other clues for the T/6 "relating to thesis" word? I'm going round and round and can't find it
6:48 pm
periwinkle
mommanine, I just noodled around and got it. Keep trying :).
6:49 pm
mommanine
The i/7 was throwing me off because of the clue "inter". I was thinking "between", but you need to put the accent on the second syllable
6:54 pm
periwinkle
Does the I/7 begin with IN?
6:54 pm
periwinkle
marigold, do you have all of the 7 letter words?
6:58 pm
mommanine
yes, the i/7 starts with in
7:00 pm
marigold
i am missing the last wh word
7:00 pm
Krys10
These from earlier in the logs:
i7 inter
Has the E7 figured in these discussions yet? At the risk of repeating, a clue is that it would be the chap who implements a particular (and obscure) political and social system. Not to be found in dictionary.com :o)
7:02 pm
Krys10
oh! I just got the i. It's a 5-letter word with the prefix IN
7:02 pm
periwinkle
I know that inter means to bury but I can't find it. and the clue for the E7 does not help me at all.
7:03 pm
mommanine
well, where do you bury people?
7:05 pm
periwinkle
cemetery, ha ha
7:46 pm
youngster
Yay, I just got the 2 T8s without using any clues!
8:26 pm
periwinkle
Ihave 10 W words. Are there any more?
8:28 pm
periwinkle
I can only find 6 D words.
8:37 pm
marigold

8:40 pm
periwinkle

8:49 pm
marigold

9:21 pm

I still don't have the t-8's. Can someone point me to the hour the clues were given?
9:23 pm
marigold
the one of the t 8 is a number unlucky
9:26 pm
marigold
the other one has to do with acting on a stage.
9:29 pm
marigold
the time the clues where given was 10:34 am
9:31 pm
fit1
Bless you, my dear Marigold. You would think I would have gotten the stage one since I am directing a show myself. Your clues were perfect.
9:52 pm
shortseer
Yay!
Back in time to try to finish this off!
I'm missing 2x H 4/5's
I've got:
3x HE5
5x HE4
2x Hi4
1x HU4
1x H6
2x H7
Where do the final two fit in?
And can anyone give the second letter to the (to me) very obscure E7 political chappie?
Or give which E it starts with?
9:58 pm
fit1
102/1441=bed. Niters all

10:10 pm

10:12 pm

3x Te5
2x Th5
1x Ti5

10:46 pm

10:47 pm
shortseer

the 7th D4 word is yet another Di4
11:46 pm
shortseer
