Penquis lives in Maine as well. I love living here, couldn't imagine living anywhere else. When we drive south we marvel at the amount of traffic and how people who live on the I-95 corridor do it. We have a season pass to Acadia and spend time there before and after the crowds come and go.

As penquis says, Baxter State Park is well worth a visit as well. You need to be much more self sufficient there and to make reservations early. The number of people allowed in the park at any one time is limited.
