ugh, shoulders are beyond painful... have taken endone. thom's place was a hit today. i made caesar salad with a twist. put avocado in with the cos, made my own caesar salad dressing. topped with shaved parmesan. toasted baguettes with grated parmesan. baked salmon fillets, anchovies, and king prawns.

We had a frost a couple of days ago - our "first planting day" is in early May. I usually start early, but this year is being weird.

totally different. Here, ground space is at a premium. Houses, towns, villages, everything is very close together. Houses and gardens are small, compared to what you are used to. But we have lovely landscapes and interesting architecture too, as Rose can confirm.

Liz, if you are reading along with us: the bread adventure is going really well! I found another way of kneading which seems to work better for me and the temps/humidity here. And another bread mold for in the oven, which works wonders in creating a lovely crust. Now, every bread I make is perfect!

I love having all the fresh fruit and fortuneately there are orchards all around us. We also have had fruit trees and grapes in our yard, the down side being they have to be pruned every year and sprayed for borers and coddling moth on a regular basis.
