I feel for the critters. I have read of fireworks that are all display and no audio... some cities (in Europ??) have mandated them over the loud options. (Maybe it will catch on here? I would hate to see fireworks banned outright.. but even I dont do well with random shrieks and booms....to sat nothing of the critters that are scared. Some yahoo let off a handfull at 3AM last night - I let out a stringh of invectives that likely made it all the way down to my landlord's place... I was cursing a blue streak :/

during our early years in this house, the local town cop tried and tried to find something he could take exception to with us. One 4th - it was the 3rd, actually - Hubs was setting off a few bottle rockets to entertain the kids, and here he came. "It's not the fourth yet!" Sigh.

I am glad most police here are still nice and helpful. I still remember one though... fining me for walking (!) through a red light, in pouring rain, with me carrying two extremely heavy bags of groceries and not a car or any other vehicle in sight. I made them remind me of paying the ticket until I knew it had cost them more than it netted them, lol.

that is very nice. I so hate fireworks. Well, not looking at it, from a big distance, that is okay. But the noise is hell for someone with ptsd. December here is more or less a loss for me... cannot function much. Wish they would make it law that only licensed ppl can light it, and not everyone with a bit of cash. Like kids. So many accidents, and so much noise everywhere... not worth it!

I have noticed a large increase in fireworks being shot off all through the year now... any family celebration including bitrhdays... maybe they are too cheap? I think they are very expensice, but....
and yes, we do hasve a run at New Year now as well.. this is relatively new - the last decade.... It seems we cant go two weeks at any time of year without someone setting them off... BUT I did just find our that most fireworks are now banned in New York State, so they come here to buy and set them off.. being a border community, many aUS peole have small places here...

When Michael and I first got together as a couple, his job had just made him cut his hair. He only asked me to cut it when they told him he needed a cut. I didn't know how to cut hair! So a friend showed me and picked out a couple of different scissors I could use. I was so glad when he could finally let it grow again!
But, now it is up to him. I don't care one way or the other, but I'm not a barber. He can find one if he decides short is more comfortable...after years of bitching about haircuts!

Like yesterday - we were meeting up, and I brought towels, sunscreen, waters for all....and they all had their own, of course...because they are adults. Oh deeha.. well.. For the last 6 years I have had tremendous stress ( babblers will note i have not been around a great deal) and that finally was lifted in february. As i began to recoup, i started to boat and my brain got foggy. Iput that to exhaustion. but then a few weeks ago i felt like I woke up 2 sizes bigger. Add in itchy ears ( deep itch) craving for sweets in the a.m. dark circles, IBS, the foggy brain as i said.

oh boy judi. Honestly, with the pre and probiotics,vit c,callogen, and lemon water... i didnt find it too bad. the first 2 days you drink the horrid broth... and you HURT bc as the fungus dies off it releases toxins. you feel like you have the flu, but it a good freakin hurts bc you KNOW you are on the right track... it is bc of the overgrowth die off.. and then way more energy... and feel "good"

No. I had a really rough June, flew out to MT for a wedding & back again (with hubby)the first weekend, my best online friend (that I've known for 18 years or sao, another RN) died the next weekend, then my brother-in-law died in a rafting accident the 3rd weekend; and the family reunion I've been planning was the 4th weekend. (135 people said they were coming; we know there were somewhere between 110 & 120 that came.)

THe reunion was a huge success. My cousin had chosen to go back to our great grandparents (on my Mother's side); they had 5 children and we couldn't find any descendants from 1 of those families. We tried contacting the ones we could find; but they never responded.

In some ways, it's getting harder to track peole down...not just things like name changes from marriages but so many no longer have land lines, so looking in a telephone book to cold call isn't as likely to yield results. I think you did very well - you did track down a lot of them... you had quite a turnout!

Nef- mine certainly did. That's why I hope if we get them all covered through Christmas they will be good until at least spring. During the year I take donations like that to the Title I schools and the counselors ditribute it to the kids they know need it most. Many of them don't have socks or underwear.

The reunion was fun; but it was a lot of work. If I had to do it over; I'd write on the invites that no one should leave until we took group pictures. I forgot to do that until a bunch of people left; the group photos we have show anywhere from 84 - 88 people.

The grandson I spoke of & I had a 'discussion' at the library. He was turning hormonal. I saw "A Wrinkle in Time' on display & said, 'Oh Jeffy, you'll love this.' Took one look, said nah. We came to a compromise that I would take out other books for him plus Wrinkle & he only had to read it for 5 minutes. So he thought he was being clever & tried to get it out of the way first, when we got home - you all know where this is going - an hour later, he's still reading. Periodically, I would remind him his 5 minutes were up LOL.

I've been an election judge for a long time, so I have many connections to help register people. I do that. What's been tremendous is that as of, hmmmm, 4 (?) years ago, they've allowed high school seniors to serve as election judges right along with us. It's a great way to get out the young vote & that's what's going to make a difference. I'm 100% behind those kids from Florida.
