as an educator, these tests SUCK - we give up six school days to administer tests that do NOTHING to help the students. at all.

I try to do my part to educate people that the tests shouldn't be deal breakers. I've sat with enough educators that have explained how the testing is scored. But when people are moving to a new area, they go to test scores and school rankings to make their choice online, before they even see me!

the new district I am in is just as challenging as my last, but in reverse ways. Many families in my last district were dirt poor, and really struggled to provide the school supplies, clothes, and just...FOOD their kids needed. This district is highly affluent, and the kids are completely stressed out, because their parents are not happy with high performing kids - they lean on them mercilessly to be the BEST kid, with the HIGHEST grade, with the MOST extracurriculars, going to the BEST college. These kids are exhausted from trying to live up to the demands of the parents, who really just want to impress their friends.
