hi mcurlschool, from ur previous comments I think u must have respironics dreamwear nasal mask - air tubes go up on both sides of face, right? More cumbersome than nasal pillows. u might ask to try ResMed P-10 nasal pillows. less intrusive.

yes, the sleep center is monitoring. My intial over night in home test shows 46.8 episodes and after 2 nights usage it was down to 3.2 BUT I was more tired than before starting using the machine. So tired that I could not think clearly and every time I sat still I would nod off. I didn't use it at all Friday night and I felt 100 times better on saturday. Still tired but far more clear headed and less tired.

Call the sleep center asap and tell them everything. It's their job to correct any issues with the equipment. And if you are not responding well to treatment, it's their job to sort that out too. Be insistent. Write down everything you want to tell them, and keep your notes. I know from experience that some people who work at sleep centers believe the only thing that matters is your AHI. Don't accept that. Ask to speak to a supervisor, a manager, another doctor, or whatever it takes.

May I also suggest you join the apnea board at apneaboard.com. It's free, run by volunteers, and is very supportive of cpap users. You can ask questions even if you are a total beginner and get amazingly helpful responses, often from several people.

Your encouragement means a lot. I have started keeping a journal and yes I went back to day 1 and noted how I felt. part of my issue is my fear of having anything on my face. It's kind of like claustrophoia but only when it involves things on my face. They don't seem to believe that it is an issue. "We'll just try another mask" I keep saying a different mask is not going to improve my claustrophobia feeling or fear of suffocating because my face has something on it. I will not give up!!
