I have learned through the years to always have a bunch of boxes of extra tree lights on hand when putting up the tree. It never fails that one, or all the strands you have won't light.

before I put my lights away, I "wind" them up, then plug in again to make sure that strand works... If not, I'll tape a note to check bulbs next use... I can't even tell you how many bundles of lights I have in the attic with notes attached, lol. As inexpensive as they have become, easier to just trash and buy new, one would think I'd come to my senses and trash those that don't work... I just don't like sending stuff like that to the dump... we're running out of space in that arena without adding toss/replace items...
