He'll find it, I have no doubt. Unfortunately, it's a sellers market (at least here) at the moment, if he finds something he feels good about, he (I'm guessing he has common sense, lol) should be prepared to make an offer. Property here is being sold the day it goes on the market (actually, they get multiple offers), but most of the people who want to live "in town" would have to build in the Gulf because what little land that hasn't been developed is being bought up by contractors for sub-divisions or apartment complexes... Sorry, rambling. Know a lot of people who have been in that boat in the last couple of years, myself included...

Yes, seller's market here as well. And in CA where he came from. They sold their house for 20 K over asking price. But first things first. He needs to find a job, which I know he will for sure..Then find a place to rent.. he won't be ready to buy for a while. But that's cool/ Right now he's living with his sister in Brooklyn.. fortunately she has a roomy house

My son and his boys lived with us for almost 3 years before he found a house he was able to get. Location (3 miles from us so I can get the kids from school if need be... well, could, we've gone back to the office, lol). And it's in the same school district.

I had purchased my house on a little over 2 acres on a dead end rural road then a few years ago the rest of the original parcel came up for sale. Someone had made an offer on it that day but we kept calling the realtor and told him not to forget us if something fell through... he called a few months later and asked if we were still interested, YES! Turns out the wife found out she was pregnant and they couldn't afford to buy the land and build with a baby on the way, so now we have almost 10 acres.
