There are several holdups. There are those who [claim they] won't get it until the FCC approves it for non-emergency uses. Some say it's against their religion. (Wonder what religions are against it.) Some think it's a liberal hoax. Then you have my mother...I don't know what her deal is...she was a nurse for 50 years and keeps finding excuses to not get it...every time someone has a bad reaction to it, still gets COVID after getting it, etc.

i think the main holdup for a lot of low-key worriers about the vaccine is that everything is invisible. getting covid is invisible, and not an immediate consequence of anything. maybe you just won't even get it. our instincts are not well suited for this kind of danger. but a shot is an actual thing that you DO, that you know you did, that you have to go out of your way to do. so that seems (but isn't) riskier.
