Hi everyone. Just wondering how this omicron variant of Covid is affecting people in the US. Here in Ireland, pubs, restaurants & all hospitality must shut down by 20.00 hrs. The numbers of people getting infected is sky-rocketing, as they are in the UK. What’s happening over there? Is omicron a huge problem?

hi soodle - it's increasing at an alarming rate in the US, and starting to do the same here in Canada. Some provinces (in Canada) are ramping up restrictions again, but here, in Alberta, our moronic premier has decided to ease them. It'll be mayhem in a few weeks.

seems omicron evades the vaccines quite a bit but boosters help. Hopefully this protects some of the most vulnerable who have had access to boosters already (in Europe, here in the US all can get boostered 6 months after the first dose)

my daughter is a clinical educator in a hospital - for the last year and a half, she's been regularly called into work in the ICU and ED because of staffing shortages. worries me, since she still has to do her job, take care of her children, work on her phD - she's going to burn out, too
