Did you get the CA 6,24, JenM?
2:27 pm
ch1212
hurshy, now I want to share this with you. It's an excerpt from a book I'm writing. I think you'll enjoy:
But something catastrophic happened around 70,000 years ago that wiped out nearly all humans. One theory posits a giant super volcano in Indonesia erupted. Whatever caused our near-extinction only 1,000 to 30,000 of the hardiest, strongest individuals survived. It was like pushing the reset button on the human race. Those few people lived throughout the African continent until some migrated to other parts of the world, and then adapted to the various climates and conditions by (for example) developing lighter shades of skin. Thus, every person on Earth today is a descendant of that tiny group who survived 70,000 years ago. This explains why most animal DNA has thousands more variations than human DNA. We descended from a tiny gene pool only a millisecond-ago in geologic time.
What were we doing those first 65,000 years until recorded history began 5,000 years ago? Who knows? We apparently evolve very, very slowly.
