Less fires here in Calif than in years! They have been doing controlled burns to get things under control. It's working, but too little too late. My homeowner's policy non-renewed me because I have 2 oaks that are over 200 years old, but they're 16 feet apart, and the company wanted them 18 feet apart. So stupid!

Yes, having the roof over our heads is important! I just got my new tax bill - our county is falling apart, so it went up about $400 a year, but I'm not complaining because things need fixing around here.

I'm sure my taxes aren't bad compared to where I used to live in So Calif. Little towns do have to raise things, and this was the year for that here because the infrastructure is just failing.

yeah, not much here for the taxes to support. The grade school closed down about ten years back and now the kids get bussed about 15 miles to school. Tiny town library and the post office in the same building, and one bar. They haven't really fixed the dips in my stretch of road (one block to my dead end) in the whole 30+ years we've been here.

now they're threatening to fine me because my son has a collection of old tires piled up - wasn't a good idea on his part, but can't really get rid of them these days.

That's sad the school closed down. We are paying for the community college about 35 miles away which was supposed to build a campus here. Never happened. Our water rates just increased by about 40 % and I just found that they haven't even fixed a leak in the road I reported a year ago! But life goes on.

Yeah, the hubs. They took care of us. Mine worked for the county for over 20 years, so he knew so many people! I'm missing him, but anniversaries do that to me. I'll be better in a few days.
At least I passed my driver's test on Tues! They ask so many statistics I was afraid I might fail it, but I got the license renewed. After you hit 70 here you have to keep getting tested.

a historic era has passed here - I can go to the bar downtown and more people don't know my dear departed hubby than do any more. He used to be locally renowned, hah. It's been almost 7 years, hard to believe.

I think it should be within a doctor's rights to refuse treatment for a disease where vaccination has been offered and refused. Maybe that would bring them to their senses. Do they not realize that they probably put far more dangerous ingredients in their mouths every day when it comes to health safety?

Our practice refused to enroll patients if the parents refused the vaccines required for school. FLu, CoV, and HPV are optional.
