Hugs, just before my dad joined the foreign service and we moved to Holland (which still reigns among my fondest memories), we had been in Marin County (just north of SF over the Golden Gate Bridge) for four years... the longest time I'd spent living anywhere. At that time in my life, it became a kind of anchor for me, I guess, and I went back to Marin to go to college.

After that, it seemed only natural to make the move into San Francisco, which I had already fallen in love with... and I've been here ever since!
